Thank you kindly for the reply! o u o// I appreciate it~
I actually ended up pulling my app and not apping at all since I'm don't know how confident/comfortable I am in my art in order to instruct others. I think there's still a lot of areas that I could improve and a lot of big gaping spaces in my fundamentals (since I really don't have any experience outside a bit of recreational dabbling) that need to be addressed before I can guide people the "right way."

I really did want to do something on character design, but my human anatomy is still all over, so it would be a bit hypocritical of me to try to do something on it Q u Q. That and I don't really know what the "traditional" design approach is haha. We'd just be going through my silliness.

  • Specifics : I'm practicing couples, and a main problem I have with having more than one person in a painting at a time is trying to keep everyone's size relatively the same (or, relatively realistic in terms of foreground and background). Also, I'd like help on the anatomy and if there's any kind of awkwardness. And general suggestions, if any. I used stock as references from DA so if you think that'll help, I'll happily link them.

        I HAVE A QUESTION!

        • um...just wondering. Have any of you struggled with drawing a clean lineart? i'm having a hard time drawing out a clean line. Everytime i try, the line ends up becoming very sketchy. (both on paper and on tablet.) Is there anything i can do to...be able to draw a clean line? does this make sense? thank you!

Practice. Take a pen. Draw a line. Draw over that line eight times. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Best things that help me are:

•Loosen up. As you get better, your inhibitions limit you. Keep a sketchbook that is for your eyes only in which you give not a single, solitary damn about what anything in it looks like. Just draw. Let go of being good, or of being correct. Just DRAW without a visual goal set in your head; art block doesn't exist as long as you're not setting a mental standard!

•Read. Read books. Read National Geographic. Reading is one of the healthiest things you can do for your creative mind. Read History, if you don’t already. Delve into the strange, amazing world we live or read about ancient folklore of Aztec gods for a little while! Spend an hour or two on Wikipedia or in bed with your favourite mangas. With luck this new information/inspiration will give your creative side a little kick in the a**.

•Do spontaneous sketching. Start with a line, and just draw random stuff from it. Abstract shapes, chibis, blobs with faces, objects, animals, fingers, lamps ANYTHING! The more you remind yourself that art is fun, and not everything needs to be 'perfect' (because perfect doesn't exist), you'll learn to be a bit more lenient on your capabilities.

•EXPERIMENT. Use as many different mediums as possible since you're artblocking in an area you're brain might be a little sick of. Anything you are afraid to use, USE IT. Use your left hand. Draw without looking at your paper. Go nuts and don't forget it's okay to laugh at yourself~

•Last but not least, GO SOMEWHERE! Walk somewhere. Anywhere. Just choose a direction, walk outside your front door, and walk for 30 minutes in one direction you haven’t been before. If you have a car, take half a day and drive in one direction on the highway for two hours. The farther the better, but don't get lost~

Just go somewhere unfamiliar, or do something unfamiliar. Your brain is tired of the same things, it causes a creative funk. Good luck! Hope that helped a bit. :')
:') Also hello everyone I'm sorry I am dead 99.9% of the time. Weh.
