Welcome to Gaia! ::

There are those of us here who do not wish for the Pets forum to be some sort of animal-themed Chatter Box! So, we are doing a few things...
Quote:

1. Reporting misplaced threads
2.Making and participating in informational "appreciation" threads for various species in our expertise.
3.Directing those with serious questions to said threads

So, I noticed the Rat thread had a list of the other educated threads and thought THAT is a great idea. Cross-promotion! So here is a simple list of all threads so far that you can quote and stick on your thread. blaugh

Thank god. I don't really have an area of expertise. I mean I know a lot about dogs, but I'd just ramble on about to much. I could probably start a behaviour thread...

But for now, I'll just try to refrain from starting any threads like this: "OMGZ HAMSTERZ R FURRY!!"

Just participating in intelligent conversation helps. So does reporting out-and-out spam that doesn't even have to do with pets.

I wish there was a forum for training your pet. I'm having a hell of time training my pug.

I really appreciate this. Too many stupid "ooh my puppez r cute!" threads- we don't care if you love huskies or whatever, make meaningful conversation people can participate in.

DeeSpark, I like rambling. People who ramble almost always know a lot (and are passionate) about the subject they're rambling on.
What most interests you in the world of dogs, such as training, diet, etc?

Want to know a forum I go onto that gives great advice? A few of the members are actual dog trainers and have already helped lots of people out (including me in the past) with training and behaviour problems. It'd be better then asking in the Pets forum, because you'll mostly get stupid answers. You know how this place can be.... Just let me know if you want the name of it.

I would love to know the name. I'm having a real hard time with my pug.

Training is where my heart is. Except I'm still learning a lot, so it's probably better I don't start any threads. Just incase I tell people to do one thing, and then a couple weeks later realize it was the completely wrong advice...

http://www.dogforum.com/ And go to either the training or behavior section. Hope you can get the help you need.
I hope we can run across other people with the time and knowledge to make more threads. smile
I want to see one on Chinchillas, Guinea Pigs (Because they tend to be the animal most unintentionally abused or neglected due to not having enough knowledge of the pet) as well as various reptiles. smile

I would like that too. I know enough about chins not to mistreat mine, but probably not enough to write a care sheet. I am still learning on chinchillas.

same, just basic necessities and a little more for the little guys. Soaking up all the information I can along the way. smile I went into it blind, but glad I did when I did.

omg yes please, I call dibs on making a reptile support thread. <3
It's such a shame how many reptiles are unknowingly/accidentally neglected!
I don't say hi I say keys to the benz. Keys to the benz? Keys to the benz!
your jealous is showing

Wonderful! Though Herps have such varying needs there may need to be more than one... like I can see a thread for Russian Torts all on it's own (I might make one of those myself, since that is one reptile I DO know a lot about, where as I wouldn't dare make anything on snakes). But one on Reptiles in general is an awesome start, and certainly a challenge. When you get it done drop me a line and I will add it to this list.

Will do~
& I was actually thinking about that. I'll probably just do a snake thread.
Then someone (or I could later) could make a turtle/tortoise/terrapin thread.
& we'll probably need one for the lizards.
Those are the three pretty general reptile categories.
I don't think very many people own alligators/caimans/crocs.
although i did have a baby croc but that's not legal here so it never happened.
