Skins in Basic Tones
Issue: It has come back to my attention that Gaia still lacks skins in colors that would make everyone feel included. The issue is that oftentimes, the creation of a skin that is usually seen everywhere as being one way is created in just that way even though it would be wise to try to appeal to the whole userbase.
For example: We have a vampire skin pale as pale can be. Understandable, considering that these figures are most often presented as being very light. However exceptions do exist and even more than that, this is obviously not the type of site to be limited by reality.
Vampire Skin
Yes, I know that vampires are typically played by white people. But have you guys looked at your own NPCs? (Also, there's a black vampire in Twilight; a book series and movie popular enough to warrant a hot topic forum on Gaia for a while) I don't think there is any further reason to withhold a vampire skin in colors other than "paler than the moon". (And there was never any reason in the first place)

Really? I mean- really? Of all the skin colors that this creature could have if it were to exist, why is it such a sure thing that it would have the appearance of a Caucasian person?
Solution:
Short Term: Please give us the skins we're asking for here whether they're actual skins or overlays.
Long Term: Please be more conscientious with future items.
And just to clear any bad feelings: I am not trying to make accusations of racism. Please don't get offended. I just want this to be seriously thought about. It would be nice if these kinds of matters were taken into consideration in the future. It would also be great if the matters presented here were solved as well. Why is it that the default skin tone is Caucasian and it's only to appease everyone else that more skin tones are added? Things like this should be the first thing on the artist's mind when they create items. For changes to happen, there have to be changes in mindset.
I do want to go ahead and say I see that there have been some changes made. I think that they're really starting to head in a better direction and I don't want to appear ungrateful. Anyone who wants to share positive experiences and site additions is certainly welcome to do so.

A few more thoughts on the vampire front:
- Zhivago. Gaia canonly has a vampire with dark skin in the storyline, so why not the userbase?
- In many cultures vampires were identified not as anemic and pale but as rosy from all the blood they drink.

It'd be nice to also have non-natural colors available too. And other Zombie/Glombie tones.

...maybe a skin overlay so you can choose to keep the tone you have but have it OVER the item.

It seemed like Gaia was taking a step in the direction of adding more diverse colors to the "doll" skins with the Pink Marionette, but that skin isn't in the basic tones, and it's so dark that you may as well use the black body dye. D:

I'd love to have more darker skins in general sad It feels like there's a bunch of white skins with little variation and not nearly the same amount of variation among the darker tones. It's unfortunate because the complexion I'm after is between 2 of the existing ones.
