Due to the redundancy of this guide given the fact that all of this information is more beautifully presented elsewhere, it is no longer being updated. Thank you to everyone who used this guide while it was active!

This guide only tracks type of skill (Confusion, Heal, Paralyze, Poison, Sleep, Status Heal, and Wither) and the top stats. If you'd like to compare the stats and skills side by side, I'm maintaining a Kindred Comparison Chart. Please let me know if any of the data is incorrect!

Kin Skill Type by Skill

Please see post 2 for a list of Kin Skill Type by Kin and post 3 for Current Stat MVPs. Note that I have grouped the evolutionary lines together - if you are looking for Machia, please look for Cria's evolutionary line. These are the skill types a pet will have gained by level 50.

CONFUSION Causes an opponent to randomly attack (either your kin or itself).

HEAL (New as of August 27, 2015) Allows kin to regain a measure of Life.

PARALYZE Stuns an opponent (paralyzed opponents cannot attack).

POISON Causes additional damage each turn.

SLEEP Puts an opponent to sleep (sleeping opponents cannot attack).

STATUS HEAL (New as of August 28, 2015) Heals the status effects Poison and Wither.

WITHER Every action an opponent takes cost additional magic.

If I had to tier my priorities, I would probably place them as such:

Offensive Kin
1) Promising stat allocation. (High Damage)
2) Powerful skills.
3) Able to apply Sleep/Paralysis.
4) Able to apply Psychosis.
5) Able to apply Poison.
6) Able to apply Wither.

Defensive Kin
1) Promising stat allocation. (High Health, Resist, Magic)
2) Able to apply Sleep/Paralysis.
3) Powerful skills.
4) Able to apply Psychosis.
5) Able to apply Poison.
6) Able to apply Wither.

Healing is very unique and a nice bonus to me, so I wouldn't put it on my priorities just yet.

I'm happy I could help at all! I haven't been playing the game for terribly long, but I think that -- after a while -- I've figured things out a bit and can decide by looking at a Kin's stats whether it's really for me or not.

I know I didn't factor it in, but a lot of the Kin in this game have artwork inspiring enough that the visual appeal alone is enough to make me want one. That's part of the reason why my favorites are the Night Myotistrike, Cabochomp, and Phantom Stagony. They're all in varying tiers and none of them are necessarily the best (Though the Myotistrike has very powerful attacks, and the Stagony is great, all-around player), but their artwork is just breathtaking. smile

Aesthetic is definitely a part of the appeal of the kin as well - if you don't like the artwork and animation, it will be hard to stick with a pet long enough to level it! :3

So far Ember does have Wither skills. My friend's is at 10, mine is still 1, but I'm going to start working on her today. If either of us come across any different skill types, I'll let you know~
