"Give me five minutes and the right ingediants, and I'll have dinner ready to eat; yes it will be edible." Cale laughed. Possibly exaggerating on five minutes. "Hey Henry, could you toss the rag and help your mom set the table?" He asked, going to get more things from the fridge and pantry to make the rest of dinner.

"As long as it's edible." Henry replied seriously. Hopefully his mom hadn't put anything too odd in there before Cale managed to rescue it. Ah, well. It would probably be okay. Obediently he chucked the crispy dishrag into the garbage under the sink, after thoroughly soaking it in case it decided to spontaneously recombust. Then he opened cupboards and drawers, pulling out plates and cutlery and setting them up around the table, neatening them as he went. He used to stay with his grandmother over the summer holidays, and she'd have him set the table, so he was very particular about it. Old ladies were finicky that way. Fork on one side, knife and spoon on the other. Knife closest to the plate, blade pointing towards it. Cups on the right hand side of the plate, upside-down unless they were filled. Yep, he'd been well trained.

Cale chuckled and went to work. It took him about ten more minutes to finish dinner. It managed to look actually good despite Henry's mother's best attempts otherwise. And it tasted well enough. Thanks to Cale's better attempts. When the food was ready, he called in his boyfriend and family to help set the table.

With the table set, there wasn't much to do but wait until Cale finished dinner. Since they hadn't known how long it would take, Henry and his mother had started up a game of Go Fish. It probably hadn't been the best idea, given Henry's mother's tendency to cheat, pretending that she didn't have a card that she did have. Luckily her lies tended to show in the awkward smile that plastered across her face, so Henry nearly always caught her. Still, it was annoying that she'd try.

Both looked up when Henry entered the room bearing dinner. "How did it turn out?" Henry asked, standing up and coming over to inspect it. Hm... Upon careful visual inspection, it looked well enough. With a tentative sniff, he smelled it. It smelled good too. Now they'd just have to see if it was edible. It wasn't that he doubted Cale's abilities. He was just wary because it had been in his mother's hands beforehand, and she was hardly reliable. "Looks good." He conceded, and went to help his mother pick up the cards.

Cale grinned at the fact they were playing Go Fish. "Trust me, it's fine. I would never serve you anything I thought might make you sick." He replied when Henry came back. Already sitting down at his place. Having placed everyone's favorite drink at their respective places.

"Well, I know, but..." Henry said, looking up from kneeling on the floor. He stuffed the cards into the card box, and left the box on the floor because he didn't feel like carrying it anywhere else. "I mean, my mom had it before you, and she- ow!" He yelped, rubbing his arm where his mother punched him. She whistled innocently, pretending she had not just slugged her youngest son in the arm for commenting on her terrible cooking. Henry scowled at her, and took his place at the table.

Cale hid another smile and called the rest of the family to the table. It was a nice dinner and Cale helped clean up afterwords. Then the family- and Cale- sat in front of the TV and watched some horror flim that everyone talked through. Then time for bed. Before Henry could leave for his room, Cale stopped him. "Hey Henry, can I ask you something?"

Luckily, the short time the food had spent in his mother's possession did not seem to have caused the food to become lethal, or even upleasant-tasting. After his first, apprehensive bite, he breathed a quiet sigh of relief. In retrospect, he hoped Cale hadn't heard it. Then he dug in. The horror film that they watched afterward didn't interest Henry, who thought he saw enough horrors in his everday life, so he kept making excuses to leave while his mom and Cale chatted. Finally, the movie ended and Henry was about to go get ready for bed when Cale stopped him. Sending the other boy a curious look, he stopped and turned around. "Sure, what is it?" He asked curiously.

"I hope you don't take this the wrong way or anything, it's just been on my mind a while." Cale said, obviously a little nervous. "I wanted to know if you've seen anything about me. I don't want to know any details, I don't wanna know what or why, I was just curious if you had." He added quickly. Of course he had been thinking about it, who wouldn't?

Since Cale seemed nervous, it immediately made Henry nervous. Cale had never seemed to be phased by much, so it made him worry that whatever it was, it was something big. It was almost a relief when the question was voiced and it wasn't as terrible as question as he'd feared. This was a question he'd gotten from everyone who knew about his powers. At one point or another, they always wound up asking. Even though they were better off not knowing.

"No. Nothing." He answered honestly. It was rare for him not see visions about people he was in close contact with, but truthfully he was very glad not to have to witness Cale's death in his dreams. He wasn't quite sure how he would take it if he did. "If I had, I wouldn't tell you, though. It's something that's better not to know." He said, his eyes clouding for a moment. "Is there anything else you want to ask?" He asked, shaking it off.

Cale almost sighed in relief, he didn't seem upset about being asked. "Alright, thanks. I don't want to know anything, I was just kinda curious." He watched Henry's eyes a moment. Odd, but to have powers like that, Cale knew it hard to be hard to know what you didn't want to know. "No, not really. See you in the morning Henry." With a smile he gave his boyfriend a hug and a small kiss on his forehead, then headed off to bed.

"Oh, all right." Henry said, smiling in relief. If Cale had pressed, he wasn't sure what he was going to do. Then again, it would be worse if he actually had seen something, because he was a terrible liar, and they both knew it. "Yeah, goodnight." He said, leaning into Cale affectionately before turning out all the lights, confirming that the door was indeed locked, and heading up the stairs.

Henry slept terribly, not that he really slept. It was one of those nights where all he did was dream, and none of them were pleasant. At about one in the morning, he gave up completely, grabbed his pillow, and tropped down the hall, Pan clicking quietly behind him. The dog always seemed to know when he was having a bad night. He hesitated outside Cale's door. On the one hand, he was totally freaked out and overtired, but on the other hand, he really didn't want to wake Cale up. He didn't think Cale would mind, it was just a guilt thing. Finally, after taking a deep breath, he knocked, tentatively and quietly. If it didn't wake Cale up, he would figure out some other way to calm himself down.

Cale was having a rather odd dream about his feet and doggy chew toys when Henry knocked at the door. He woke up and shook off the disturbing dream, blinking in surrise when he saw was at his door. "Henry? What time is it!? Wha's wrong?" Maybe slurring his words a bit. Being woken up so late could do that to a person.

Since it was dark, Henry didn't see Cale wake up, so he jumped when the other boy suddenly started speaking. "Oh, about 1am or so." He said quietly, smiling nervously. "Um, is it okay if I sleep on your floor? I'll be quiet." A promise he might not be able to keep, if he kept having dark dreams. But he'd try.

Cale blew some hair out of his face. "What kind of boyfriend would I be if I made, or let, you sleep on the floor? Take the bed." He insisted, gently drawing Henry inside. Of course he wasactuaaly hoping that maybe (just maybe!) he would sleep with Cale in the bed. Doubtful Henry would want to, even if it was completely innocent.
