Welcome to Gaia! ::

Sorcha breathed in deep tasting the hint of fall in the air it was a beautiful day for delving into forgotten cities, of course she had no idea what the weather would be like on Zephyrus but it still seemed like like a fortuitous sign. The cow girl did a last few pre-flight checks on Machiavelli and checked that all the gear was properly stowed in the rear compartment and tugged on the straps holding the heavy equipment and the tarp over them to Machiavelli's roof. She probably could have fitted them into the rear hold with the rest of the equipment but they'd be riding on the roof anyway on the way back and this way made for a more dramatic revel.

Satisfied that everything was in order Sorcha settled her shelf into the pilot's seat and brought the engines to life enjoying the feeling of their rumble thrumming through her body. Sorcha checked her watch if she flew a bit fast she could make it to the cottage by the agreed upon time, she grinned she liked flying fast and since she would shortly be on a completely different world she wouldn't even have to worry about annoying cops trying to figure out if they should ticket Machiavelli as an aircraft or a road vehicle.

A very short amount of reckless flying later and Sorcha was pulling up to the Cottage, Sorcha angled Machiavelli into the back yard just in case it took a while for the others to get loaded up, police had yet to to successfully follow Machiavelli but no reason to tempt fate.
"This is a terrible idea."

Dacj rolled her eyes. He'd been going on like that all morning, and he'd arrived bright and early--"so you don't feel tempted to leave me behind," he'd said. Not like they would...they needed him. To carry things. Magical boys did come in handy...

"Your opinion has been noted, brother dearest. Now kindly shut up," she advised him, catching the sound of engines and immediately scanning the sky for Machiavelli. She and Eli were waiting on the white pool chairs by the pool, and as soon as the car came into sight, the kraken bounced to her feet to wiggle over enthusiastically. "Sorcha! Was there anything you needed us to do?" Shimy'd already set the portal up, flipped up looking for all the world like a Stargate, except for the part where it was made out of some sort of white stone and smooth and symbol-less.

It was real! They were going! She was incredibly excited for this trip, and she was maybe a little surprised that grumpy Eli didn't even seem to be picking up any of her infectiously good mood--wasn't that what empaths were supposed to do?
Sorcha however was far more susceptible to Dacj's good cheer, and grinned with reckless glee as she got out of the hovercraft "Not really just load anything you want to bring along into the back~ " Sorcha said as she moved forwards sweeping Dacj into a kiss. As she pulled back Sorcha settled an arm around Dacj's waist and took a moment to examine the portal and whistled softly " Wow I'm glad I talked to Shimy her portal is nicer then Na-kuns~" not quite as big but the dark pitted metal portal that Na-kun used wasn't really a match for the bright shiny stone.

Friendly Shapeshifter

How did I get talked into this again? The cheetah Hyte could help but keep asking himself this as he made the walk from his apartment to the Cottage. (He'd have driven, but he didn't want to inconvenience anyone by leaving his car parked out front for however long they'd be gone.) When he arrived, it seemed that everyone who was going had gathered out back, and he was faintly relieved to see that Eli looked about as enthusiastic to be going on this trip as he felt. "Good morning," he greeted to the group as he approached. Sorcha's hovercar was certainly an interesting sight, as was Shimy's portal which was set-up and seemingly ready. ... He still didn't have a good feeling about this.
"G'morning, Seth~" Dacj said cheerily, one arm looped around Sorcha's waist in turn. "Eee, isn't this exciting?" She was still bouncing on her tentacles.

Eli rolled his eyes. "It's grave robbing, Dacj."

"It's the Old Empire, Elias," the kraken retorted, sticking her tongue out at her brother. He shivered at the use of his full name, and she chuckled. "Seriously though! After all the grief you've gone through, you ought to be the one most entitled to a bit o' loot, right?" She understood the general distaste of the thing, but...the planet'd been dead for at least a few thousand years. If any of the refugees meant to go back for their relics--well, actually, they'd have brought them with them in the first place, wouldn't they have? "Or just don't think about the shiny things and think exotic planet. Say it with me now--"

"I've been offworld before," the kuppy interjected wryly. Perhaps it was because of that experience he was inclined to feel nothing but dread at the prospect of leaving Gaia.
Sorcha waved to the cheetah Sooo this was Dacj's crush... Sorcha's visual inspection was interrupted by Eli's moping "Come now Elias~ it's long abandoned, grave robbing is when you dig up dead body's and go through their pockets. This is more entrepreneurial archeology~" At Eli's less then enthusiastic response to going off world Sorcha raised an eyebrow "Well obviously you haven't had a guide as awesome as me then, don't worry so much there shouldn't even be any hungry dead on this planet or any thing~"
Seth had shared the same 'off world' experience as Eli had, and thus could easily empathize with his foreboding on this trip. It wasn't like they were going on a vacation somewhere after all. In fact, if the world had been dead for so long, how did they even know if the air was still breathable without any plant life around? So so many things that could go entirely wrong. "I don't believe the 'guide' was quite the issue at the time," the cheetah Hyte remarked. Of course, Sorcha likely didn't know the details of the venture or that it had even come to pass considering that she hadn't been born yet when it had transpired. "So, everyone is packed up and ready to go I assume?" He felt no desire to go on this trip at all, but he didn't quite feel safe leaving the girls on their own either (which was likely the same reason Eli was agreeing to tag along). Just as a precaution, he had brought a couple of items with him for in case of an emergency, and had even taken one of Mena's pills shortly before arriving. They had no absolute proof that nothing else had settled on the 'dead' planet in all the time it's been abandoned after all, and better safe than sorry.
"Ready to go!" Dacj agreed. And apparently more willing than either male. But they were coming along, and she was sure they'd loosen up when nothing went wrong. It was one of the homeworlds, with thousands of years of history and impressive underground cities and they'd have to be impressed. Definitely.

Eli raised his eyebrow at 'entrepreneurial archaeology' but didn't reply further. "Might as well get this madness started." The sooner they left, the sooner they'd come back, right?
Sorcha grinned happy that Dacj at least was enthusiastic "Oh in interest of good guidyness.." Sorcha dug around in her side pouch and pulled out 4 small amulets on silver cords and handed then out "Wear these while we're out and about, while it isn't likely that we'll run into the spawn of the Great Old Ones if we do you'll want that Elder Sign on you, won't really stop a Great Old One itself but will be quite handy against shoggoths or such like." That taken care of Sorcha ushered her makeshift crew to Machiavelli's door "Take a seat and we'll get this show on the road." Sorcha said as she strapped her self in to the pilots seat.
Seth blinked as he accepted the amulet from Sorcha, and glanced over it briefly before putting it on. "Er, thanks." He doubted they'd be running into any of Dacj's relatives while there or that it would really do much good against any other creatures, but the thought was nice at least. Likely. The cheetah Hyte climbed into the hovercraft with the rest, and waited for them to get going. ... I really don't have a good feeling about this. But at this point, what could they do? Talking them out of it had failed, so all that was left really was to be extra cautious as they made this insane trip off-world.
Dacj giggled as she took the amulet in hand, holding it by the chain end and turning it slowly as she inspected the pendant end. "But I am a spawn of the Great Old Ones," she teased. Nonetheless, when she slipped it on, there didn't seem to be any kind of ill effect. She shrugged, opting for the copilot seat she'd last taken on her and Sorcha's date.

Eli opted for the back of the sitting area, not the least of which because Dacj's tentacles curling around her seat gave him the shudders. "Thanks for coming along," he said to Seth dryly. Though Dacj'd been the one to ask him along (for reasons the kuppy wasn't quite sure of, and could only hope that with Sorcha involved Dacj's plans for having Seth here were less conniving than they could be), Eli appreciated not being the only bastion of sanity on this little trip.
"Wasn't gunna leave you on your own," he added with a faint smile. The kuppy Hyte already had enough trouble around his sister because of his phobia, but throwing Sorcha into the mix was just begging for trouble. Although really, if nothing else he and Eli were likely going to become the pack mules for the trip. Ah well, such was life.
Sorcha flipped on Machiavelli's engines which roared to life a light rumble rolled through the craft as it lifted from the ground "Every one buckled up?" Sorcha asked as she aligned the Hovercraft with the portal, a reckless grin split her face as she gunned the thrusters sending Machiavelli surging forward through the portal. As the instant of blackness passed two thoughts crossed Sorcha's mind, first that that had been a smoother transfer then Na-kuns normally gave and second why was there only sky visible through the view screen? A second later Sorcha realized with a curse that they where in fact heading strait up and where about 60 feet in the air with a few desperate movements Sorcha used the thrusters to get the craft back in proper alignment with the ground then quickly reoriented them to be pushing up and turned the lifters to maximum. The Hovercraft bounced twice and then spun in a half circle before coming to a stop. Breathing heavily and a bit shaken but other wise fine Sorcha left out a sigh of relief and then started to laugh "HAHAhaha That was Awesome!!" then remembering that she was supposed to be the guide here she turned to check out her passengers "Every one alright?"
"Wheeee~" Dacj squealed as they took a wilder ride than perhaps first anticipated. First up! Then down! Bounce, bounce, spin! "That was awesome," the kraken agreed, patting her seatbelt harness. She leaned to glance outside--her first glimpse of an alien planet! It was a rather uninspiring one, sand dunes as far as the eye could see. Still, they weren't Gaia sand dunes. And the real inspiring part of the place was supposed to be underground in the caverns, anyway.

Eli had put a hand against the nearest side of the hovercar, wincing at every bounce. "Let's get to the caves so we can get out," he moaned, feeling quite carsick. He probably wouldn't throw up, but a spot of fresh air would be great...
That... had been a rather unpleasant entry to the foreign world. The cheetah Hyte had held on tightly the whole time, and only relaxed his grip with a sigh once the spinning had stopped. "Agreed," Seth replied. "Although, has anyone checked to see what the atmosphere on this planet is like? Is it still breathable?" It was a legit question, and one that was likely best to find out before they left the portal area..
