I can also get the names of the no longer visible paper items if you'd like. And sorry I didn't code the first link, I'm doing all of this on my phone and I don't feel like getting the icon

up until around 2004, items were genderlocked on gaia- while almost all of them have since been updated to work with both genders, some super old items are still genderlocked. you can tell which gender the item works on by the male/female in the item name!

fun fact, bruteforcing genderlocked items onto your avi actually used to be the way people did the "invisibility cloak" trick- when you force male items onto a female avi (or vice versa), it tries to pull a value that doesn't exist for that item and just loads a blank space instead! the same goes for bruteforcing paw items onto human bases (nowadays it just gives you an error message saying the item couldn't be equipped)

they were placeholder listings to test items that were used in the 2007 flash game, they were released + the old listings were purged from the site entirely. the broken listings used to show up in search results until around 2019, i removed them from the guide whenever they stopped showing up in search results.

As far as I could search there was no announcement (maybe it happened after an AtS?) but the name change happened this year sometime between January 11th and March 9th.




I also find it interesting that they increased the price for it some time after March 9th so it's now 100 plat instead of 1 plat. Thank goodness I have like 10 and I don't even need them anymore since you can save gender bases in your closet
