Dark Mode & Perks Sub
Hello, Gaians!
We wanted to talk to you all today about the Perks Subscription system and Dark Mode that has been in testing since earlier this week.
There has been overwhelming feedback about Dark Mode and we hear you!
Initially, Dark Mode was planned to be included as a perk in the Perks Sub as a sort of "early access" period until more perks are ready that can be included.
Once we had more perks to add, Dark Mode was then going to be released to the entire site. However, after hearing everyone's feedback on the matter we have decided to provide it for free to everyone right from the launch.
The main purpose of the testing phase was to ensure that the new payment system and perks all functioned properly and as such we had not yet prepared any official statements or in depth information beyond the scope of the test. We apologize that our lack of communication on the matter has caused so much upset.
We are in the process of building even more new perks! Some things you can look forward to are: larger/unlimited PM inbox space, purple/grey mode (additional color themes for the Forums), exclusive post styles, and more! Existing perks are going to be improved and extended as well.
As you already know, Gaians are incredibly diverse in their backgrounds and interests. But the diversity doesn't stop there; it even goes down to how they use the site!
While many are primarily interested in the avatars and items, there are also many who aren't.
The Current Angel Subscription appeals to the former with its GC bonuses and monthly Angel Item, but what about the latter? The idea behind the Perks Subscription is to provide additional bonus site functionalities that don't revolve around items and GC.
From a technical standpoint the Angel Subscription engine is highly limited and outdated, which has led us to develop a brand new one.
Not only does this one allow for more convenient features and payment methods, but it also allows new ways for individual parts of the subscription to be provided (i.e. achievements, gifting, etc.).
We are launching this new engine with the Perks Subscription system and then we can begin to move the Angel Subscription over to it. This will give us the opportunity to expand upon the Angel Subscription system in the future!
There are unlimited possibilities and directions, so we will be considering all the options and gathering input from our current subscribers for the future of Angel Subscriptions.
