I was referring to many people. LOL. I did read your post, but I'm not only addressing you.
But is Gaia claiming all of the characters as its own? Gaia could just have created their
own character with many similarities with game characters from other companies. You know.
Someone plays Kingdom Hearts. They decide to make their own OC. So they make a male
character that looks a lot like Sora, but they make his main colors different. They load their
fan art onto DA, and sell prints of that character.
Sorry, assumed from the recent postings I've made here.
Still, I see that as a form of art theft, or at the very least, absolute douchbaggery from an uncreative t**t who shouldn't get paid for a s**t stain on paper. Sonichu.

And if that's not enough for your to see my point, what about Anime Conventions? Artists
sell fan art of characters all the time. They are making a profit for drawing characters that
do not belong to them. They also draw their own original characters though.
Although true, they don't try and cover up that it's
Tingle with the triforce of power, instead claiming it to be "giant gay elf and little gay elf who owns a horse".

And what about cosplayers? Famous cosplayers like Alodia are dressing up as characters
from games and animes, but they are still getting paid as professional cosplayers. You can
say that they're only selling their appearance, but they're still dressing up as a specific
character.
Gaia is not claiming to own the characters. The announcement did say that Rina and Kanako
were writing a fan fiction after all. Gaia is selling fan art.
That is true.
@EliteDanneh:
You may have won this round, but it wasn't because of your arguments. No, it was the evidence and arguments put forth by Luci. In other words, fail troll is fail.
