Yes, very sad that I am not a hypocrite who says "Yay Pokémon/Sailor Moon/Zelda items!" but then complains about something like this. Especially since this now gave the artist a lot more publicity than they probably had last week.

There are more important issues in this world and I hope Gaia makes 5 more recolours of this item now just because people b***h. <:

Just because Nintendo (for example) is a big company that makes millions off their designs doesn't make their intellectual property any more or less their own property.

i agree.
however, i take more issue with this because nintendo is capable of making millions/billions off their products, where as mogeko doesnt make anything & has asked people respect that and do the same.
this is really more about respecting individual artists (especially japanese artists, who seem to get stepped on a lot more bc of the language barrier). also, nintendo has more power to enforce their rules concerning their IP (with all their money & legal teams), & people like mogeko dont so.. its pretty different, at least the way i see it.

~ I want that shark swim more than the original! The scars look more natural on my base. Still liking the original better color wise for the clothing though. Gotta love how some want to make a big deal out of nothing. I can't believe the time invested into looking up that character and how little is actually related to the item.

this item was instantly recognizable as the character its referencing to A LOT of people, including those who aren't even fans of the artist or game. saying it doesnt resemble the character at all is akin to saying that the dragonslayer items dont look like sylveon, or the tower haunts dont look like gengar/haunter.

~ It's a generic Shark item and calling it that character you might as well be saying he is a girl. I have already said this but the ONLY thing that I find resembles him is the jacket (which is still lacking the rather large emblem) . Otherwise generic Shark hair. Shark umbrellas, Shark innertube, shark bathing suit, scarred legs which the character depictions I've seen (both boy and girl) haven't depicted.

I will go so far as to say it influenced a pose maybe two if you really want to go with generic shark hair, but it isn't a ripoff there's too much to the item that can't be found in general searches of Samekichi and his genderbent variation. The shark tail please it's a shark tail meaning it'll look like a shark on samekichi as well as on your avatar. I am not letting one game creator bougart a whole concept such as a human/shark hybrid.

Tell me where does he wear a hole filled sheer top? where are his/ her hole filled stockings (I haven't even seen a pic off him wearing shorts to expose his legs)? where's the scarred up face/ legs?

Like wise for samekichi where is the character's anchor pendant? If it's so exact where's the shark toothed grin? or his cartoony eyes? or the exact emblem on his jacket (which is rather large)? Where is his pants and shoes? where's the holeless version of his gray shirt. I mean you call it a rip off which means exact no difference or variation.

It reminds you of Samekichi and that is fine. Just as all reference items remind people of characters in series, but calling it a Rip Off as many have requires exact, and personally I haven't seen exact enough. Personally I was waiting for people to report it as Free until I saw the start of this. I'm sorry I mean no disrespect, but those are my feelings on the subject. I still see it as a generic homage item and nothing more. ~
