hello mod type people, dont ban me.
Hello!
Is there a reason why we should do such a thing? o:
Not that im aware of, but with the weird fact that half the people i know are getting perma banned for minor/borderline violations i just dont know. Some mods are trigger happy lately it seems
You shouldn't believe everything you read in the forums as true! Trust my experience, most users who claim they were banned for no reason are simply lying - or sometimes mistaken. They do it to cause drama and scare people, and usually omit the fact they perfectly know what really happened (but who wants to brag about doing something illegal that won't make them sound cool at all?...).
We usually don't interfere and won't post the real reason publicly to preserve privacy (in some cases when a user is really causing ruckus about their "unfair" ban and fooling users one Admin or Mod may intervene and reveal the reason for the ban so other users know the truth, but it's really exceptional.)
Bans are not an easy decision, and obviously Gaia is a website that needs users to keep going, so why would they just want to ban anyone on a whim? 0.o
There's always not only a good reason, but also solid proof behind a ban.
Also, as there can always be mistakes (they're extremely rare, but they might happen - we're all just humans after all), bans can be appealed, and reversed if they weren't deserved or the user proved their good faith.
If one of your friends doesn't know why their account was banned, they should check out their email inbox as the ban notification is sent by email. If for some reason they didn't get anything, they're free to message any moderator (from another account) to know why their account was banned. They can also ask what to do to appeal the ban if they believe it wasn't fair.
Remember this next time you see someone make that kind of complain... there are great chances they're not telling everything and just want to gain attention while making honest users who just follow the rules feel insecure.
Savvy users who've been around a long time are aware of this, but sadly there are always other users who fall for this. :/
