Welcome to my little corner of Gaia! Originally this was a simple quest thread, but as it has grown so have I. Since my quest (for a panda hat) involves so much gold, I've decided to use my savings for good purposes. Therefore I am offering a service of anti-inflation prices for lucky questors. Whatever I can snag an item for is how much you will have to pay, no more no less. This can be very helpful for rapidly inflating items. I will also try to keep contests running and conversation flowing to keep things interesting. Here you will find no pleas for donations, although company is greatly loved to pass the time. Anti-Inflation Center

CURRENTLY ON HOLD WHILE I TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT ITEMS I CAN ACTUALLY HELP PEOPLE WITH. IF YOU UNDERSTAND INFLATION WELL PLEASE TEACH ME :OOPS:

Here are the particulars for my anti-inflation center. The short of it is that I will use my quest funds to buy the item you are questing. I will use my powers of exchanging and market-whoring to get the best price possible. I will then tell you the amount you owe me and hold the item at that price until you have saved up the amount I paid. I make no profit, but I also don't lose gold. This way I can put my savings to a good use without hurting my quest.

Details:

• I will only save up for one item at a time. Once I have bought an item I will be willing to save for a new one, whether or not the last one has been paid for yet.
  
• Between each item I will be accepting applications for one week before choosing a new item to save up for.
  
• I will choose candidates based on how well I know them, how well I trust them, and how confident I feel that I can actually get the item in a timely matter.
  
• I am currently only offering this service for monthly collectibles, as those are the only items currently guaranteed to inflate. If I buy an item and then the price goes down I am not helpful to you, and I am screwed when you go buy the cheaper one. Tis means no event items, rares, or store items for now. Sorry.
  
• If I do not get a candidate I feel comfortable saving for within the week I will continue to take applications indefinitely.
  
• Anyone who is saving up for an item I am holding should keep in regular contact with me. If you drop off the face of the earth for more than a month without warning me I am liable to sell the item to get someone else their dream. Please drop by here at least once a week to keep in good standing
  
• I do not accept partial payments in order to avoid scams and other unpleasantries. If anything happens to my account I don't want you to feel cheated, and I don't want to feel cheated by you. So it's best to make this as simple as possible. I also am only accepting pure gold, unless we work something out personally.

Application Tips and Rules:

• The better I know you, the better your chances at being chosen. Hanging around this thread is the best way for me to get to know you.
  
• Try, try again. I can only pick one person/item at a time, and if you aren't picked that doesn't mean I am not willing to help. I just can't at the moment.
  
• Refrain from gaian drama and cruelty to anyone here. Your personality matters to me. I want to help people who deserve it most! Don't harass anyone, it looks bad and makes me sad.
  
• Make sure you keep in steady touch. I've mentioned this already, but it is incredibly important.
  
• Don't break any of the rules.
  
• Have a quest thread. Have a reasonable post count. The more expensive the item is the more I expect from you.

I am auctioning off is advertising space in my quest thread/anti-inflation center.

We begin with an image of a bunny:

These little bunnies are just waiting for kind owners to come along and adopt them. Unfortunately there was a small mix-up and they all came out black and white! Never fear, these will come in handy!

So just grab a marker and color yourself a bunny!

Once you have finished you can send me a trade for 200 gold and I will add a simple certificate (name, owner, etc) and add you to the proud owners' list! These bunnies would love to watch over your thread, journal, or signature, they just need a bit of color to give them a sense of individuality.

I spend a lot of time on gaia, and can usually be found at this thread. I have a habit of adopting smaller threads and enjoy trading bumps/conversations with other people, and therefore can be found in a variety of other people's quests, shops and charities. I can also be found at a variety of guilds augmenting my gold by polling and conversating. I enjoy meeting people, and am willing to discuss most topics, be they mundane or deeply philosophic.

I am a college student, but friends here range in age quite a bit, so don't feel intimidated! I am available for everything from advice to homework help to mindless bumping, if that's what you're in need of. I happily enter bumping contests, if you have one that you need participation for. *

* The following may not hold true during special events, as the thread gets a bit chaotic and difficult to follow at such times. On my bumping policy: you may buy bumps from me (see below), and then you will get however many bumps you paid for, with no obligations (beyond.. payment, of course). I also bump for people who hang out here with me; I try to be as fair as possible and give a thread as much attention as its owner gives my thread. Sometimes I adopt threads for little to no reason whatsoever. How I work is I leave a message (usually a lone heart ) at each of my favored threads. Then I re-bump threads in which I am no longer the last poster, starting at the bottom of my subscription list and moving up the ranks. therefore, if absolutely no one is at your thread, I will not be around very much. Also - if you have a wildly popular thread and it always has people, I probably won't be around that much either. If you bump me once, I'll bump any thread in your siggy once, beyond that it gets hard to reciprocate fairly, so I use the above-mentioned tactic to give those who need the bumping most (but do put forth effort of their own as well) get the most help from me. These will be people whose threads are active but still need that extra push. I also try to keep up with threads belonging to my regulars first and foremost.

On bump contests: if you need someone to get a bump contest going, I am there for you, however, I will only bump to about fifty or a hundred without competition, and I also prefer bump contests that have a definite ending time, and/or one that is in the near (rather than very far to possibly never) future. So I do not guarantee equal attention to all bump contests, but am always willing to help out in some way. That sums up my policies on bumping.

Thread Dedication

This thread is dedicated to Nicholas Cooper, who is currently battling stage 4 Burkitt's Lymphoma.

As you can see, the barrage of tests and other procedures is very hard on his little body, but he is going through all this with unflagging good humor and strength. Stage 4 is a classification, 1 through 4 in order from least to most advanced forms of cancer. It has spread to most every part of his body, including his brain, and he is undergoing chemo injections to his spine to counteract this very aggressive form of cancer. Please keep him in your hearts and minds.

Here is some information on Burkitt's Lymphoma from Burkitt`s Lymphoma Resources.

Burkitt's Lymphoma, rare in most of the world, is the most common childhood cancer in Central Africa, and is one of the most aggressive of all human cancers.

Burkitt's lymphoma is one type of a group of malignant diseases know as the Non-Hodgkin's Lymphomas (NHL). These lymphomas are very similar to the leukemias. The type of malignant cell present is called a B-cell and Burkitt's is often referred to as a B-cell lymphoma or leukemia.

As with other cancers, the exact cause is not known. Burkitt's is the most common in children in Africa and there is some evidence linking its cause there to a virus known as the Epstein-Barr virus. Outside of Africa, chromosomal defects in some of the patient's cells may be the cause. Children still seem to be the most affected, but there are cases of adults with Burkitt's.

This malignancy grows very rapidly and a person who appeared in good health a month or 6 weeks ago may now be critically ill.

The diagnosis of Burkitt's is usually made by a biopsy from a suspected disease site such as the bone marrow or a lymph node. The staging of the disease is done quickly to spare the patient any life threatening complications from the rapid tumor growth. Common tests done include a complete blood count (CBC), a platelet count, a bone marrow aspiration and biopsy and a lumbar puncture. Further tests may include radiographic exams such as CT scan to look for occult masses but usually extensive x-ray procedures are not required.
