10.27.05 :: I am very sorry to say that paper soul will be going on hiatus. Feel free to talk and stuff but Hane doesn't have a lot of time and shes really pressured with college stuff right now ;o; Also there hasn't been much and interest and it has been very quiet, nothing has changed beacuse no one is really doing anything, probably the lack of/in events. And it might not be worth the time at the moment. We are planning some more guest auctions in between though. This isn't permanent. Maybe just until the holidays.

"Hmm? What's this?" said Renault as he was looking through his vast collection of books. The name of the book was "The Great Tree." Renault opened the book to see many pages filled with pictures and so much information. He then started to read...
Druids, by nature, were a very secretive race. They never show to the world what they do, and their magick was sacred; unknown to anyone but their own kin. Many have tried, and failed, to understand the elusive ones. As their race was dying out, the Druids began to feverently nurture a certain tree -- for what purpose, no one knew, and where it was, no one knew either, except for the occasional trespasser that came upon it -- with prayers and spells. With each passing day, the power within the tree grew, and each ring engraved within its trunk symbolized not only how many years it had been on this Earth, but how much power it held.
Through the tales of travelers and curious adventurers, the rumors of this 'Great Tree' soon spread through out the lands, and as a result, two power-hungry countries clashed and engaged in a bloody war in which neither side lost. Nor, did they win. Forests burned, land overturned, buildings demolished... all remaining survivors drifted away from the piece of rotting place they used to call home. The tree was left alone, forgotten, and the Druids also mysteriously disappeared from the place, never to be seen by a living soul again. The 'Great Tree' thrived on its own.

A thousand years later, nature took its own course and the trees grew, the rivers no longer flowed the color of blood, and creatures returned to chatter at each other. In the midst of it all, the now one-thousand-year-old tree stood, gnarly but strong, bent but proud. And people, long forgetting the bloodshed that happened at this place one thousand years ago, moved back. One particular small, but quite famous village, Elsas, thrived in good health. It was no wonder that the center of this village was the Great Tree. Over time, people had developed a tradition; every spring equinox, children and elders alike from the village would visit the tree with a piece of paper in their hands. On that piece of paper was a symbol, hand-drawn, to show the innermost wish of that person's heart. Every spring equinox, that piece of paper would be hung on the Great Tree. Prayers were whispered and wishes were made. Of course, wishes were also granted. When villagers recognized this, they prized the Great Tree even more so. Priestesses cared and watered for it daily, and its leaves remained a brilliant green.
What the people didn't know was the Druids, now a myth, were stealing in to visit the tree every night; enriching it powers through their spells just like how they did one thousand years ago. Until, one day, the Great Tree, brimming with energy, physically manifested the first of a race that people of Elsas called the Kariis'. A child of hopes, wishes, dreams, and unlocked powers.

In a small Shinto village, Elsas, the villagers always went to the Great Tree, Kuma, on the night of the new moon to attach their charms to the tree's branches. These charms were made out of a magical paper called 'ofuda'. The charms, or ofuda, could be found all over this tree-- not one branch was missed. After every villager tied their charm, they would have a festival to celebrate the day. When no one was watching the Kami, or spirits, of the village would root themselves in one of those charms, making that person's wish come true. These villagers were very happy that the wishes came true, but they were curious as why not even one wish was neglected.
This perked Renault's interest. Renault is a well-known Historian interested in Shinto history and religion. On one of his numerous visits to Japan he came upon a shrine high up in the mountains where a Shinto priestess, Paperghost, resided. This Priestess had the power to imprint the souls of lost, the Karii, which is a term for "Kami" (spirits/gods in Shinto mythology that reside in everything, such as rivers, major rocks, animals, etc.) onto the ofuda. Renault was intrigued by her powers as well as the ofuda, and he asked the woman, "Can you make me one?", and the Shinto Priestess, Paper, said "Of course!" Paper then gave him an ofuda. Renault then left the remote shrine, and traveled back to the small city where he lived.
On his way home, journeying into the vast countryside, he met Shinta; a Shaman. Shinta came up to Renault, looking at his ofuda and murrering, "Why do I feel such a strong aura from that piece of paper? Is something sealed within it?" Renault had no idea what he was taking about. Shinta, curious, then performed an unsealing/releasing spell on the ofuda, which called forth a spirit! Renault couldn't believe what he just saw. Shinta explained to Renault what he had done, and took Renault and his newly born spirt to meet his druid friend, Haneru.
They went to her house, cleverly hidden behind a waterfall deep in the forest. Haneru was a very kind woman who she helped 'raise' the spirits so they could change into their mature form. She too had a spirit, a leaf spirit. Haneru then explained everything to Renault, warning him that without proper care the bond between the human and the spirit would fade, causing the spirit to dissipate forever. Renault took notes on all of this for future reference.

This is where Jelo, the Priestess gives you an Ofuda. These ofuda contain a spirit, or Karii within a symbol that has been imprinted on the paper. Each symbol is unique, and gives the guardian an idea of what type of spirit is resting inside. The Karii is still sleeping at this point, and needs the Guardian's contact to be able to move to the next stage.
. Glowing Ofuda .
The Karii is now ready to be released from the Ofuda. Although it does not yet have a physical form, it can sense things in the outside world based upon the Guardian's perceptions. Once the Karii gathers enough experience of the outside world, it can leave the ofuda.
. The Adolescent :: Karii .
Newly released, the Karii now has a body to interact with the world. It has the appearance of a small child, and it still relies heavily upon the guidence and love of it's guardian to live. It still does not fully understand where it came from, or what it will become. The better you raise and nuture your Karii at this point will reflect on it's later stages.
. The Teen :: Karii .
The Karii is becoming more independant now, and does not need to rely on the Guardian as it used to. It is eager to try things for itself, and might even become rebellious if you keep too much restriction on it. The Karii's personality blooms at this point, as does it's knowledge and power. If there are other Karii nearby, it will look to form friendships with someone other than it's guardian.

. The Adult :: Karii .
The Karii is now fully matured, and is able to live fully on it's own. It may stray from the guardian after time, but if you make the effort to remain connected, the Karii will be bound to you forever. If you allow your Karii to stray, eventually the will return to the Great Tree, Kuma, and will be sealed into another Ofuda. This is rare, but if you neglect your Karii and it has not been brought up with enough knowledge and experience to take care of itself, it will return to it's ofuda form, forever breaking it's bond with you.
As an adult, the Karii is at the height of power. Along with it's innate abilities, the Karii has the ability to grant wishes. The strength of these is dependant on how well you have raised your Karii-- raise it poorly, and it might not be able to grant any at all!

From your ofuda glowing to the adolescent :: Karii, you must complete a number of quests. No more than 3.
You will PM the mule saying that you would like to take the quest. Some quests you will have to take another person, or you have the chance to form a 'party' with other people for this quest.
Some quests are all different, some may be for many people, or some may be for only 1 person. It will say what type of quest it is beside it.
Anyone :: Anyone can do it.
Reserved :: Reserved for a Karii and it's owner
Also on certain quests, it will say "Party 2" or something like that. That means you can form a party for that quest, go on that quest with others. The number on the side is how many people can join. You can have no more than that number. Please add to the PM when you choose a quest saying who will join you on the quest.
On some quests, they may involve NPC's. You will meet them in a specific Open RP area in the guild so you can discuss the problem. You may have to RP in that area until you have what you need. After that you will RP the rest of the situation in your journal and meet back with the person in that specified area. We want to give the RP a unique twist and a sort of RPG feel.

A. You mean familiars? Yes, of course! In the shop, which is in the guild you can but generic elemental familiars, guardians only, but if you want special ones, you would have to RP in your journal about you wanting one, and maybe ask the shop account about giving you one. Or maybe we will have a Familiar quest thread~ Ooo! Exciting!
Q. Will we be able to buy weapons for our Karii? Say a sword or a staff? And how about sccesories?
A. Of course! we will also sell it in the shop! We will have different weapons up for sale, but again special ones will be QUEST only! And accesories can be bought at any time. We will also sell tatoo's/markings.
Q. Where exactly do we find our ofuda? We pick it up somewhere? Do We have to acquire it from someone?
A. Ah, Good question, I'd say you find it, or rather, it finds you. You might find it in a important situation, you might keep seeing it, ect...
Q. I have a question, but it isn't answered anywhere in this thread, what do i do?
