A Christmas Crescent Falling event. 12.10.05

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

While I have fun with the pixel art, the mule is here to announce that Santa will be coming! He'll be coming straight to our thread no worse for wear on the tenth! What a swell guy.

But then why is there the smell of salt in the air...?

A pirate secret santa, no doubt.

Oh oh! And one more thing.
Each member is going to be getting a little christmas tree! Each tree will have a single present on it to be opened at Christmas time.

But there's one more thing. n_n

The more that you are active in the thread, the more decorations and lights your tree will recieve. I've got ornaments, candy canes, gingerbread men, stars, the works.

Santa will tell you what extra gifts you'll be getting for each ornament you have. ^0^!! So have fun and have some cocoa near the fire.

Once upon a time has no meaning here.

It was quite a long time ago that everything had happened. So, so long ago that I doubt anyone even remembers, except me. It's always me. I'd give anything to forget something, for once. I wouldn't care what it is, either. It just seems I'm nothing more than the blank sheet of paper for history's ink.
So blank, in fact, that not a soul knows who I am.
You?
Let us try it with you, then. Remember that little voice in the back of your head, that extra swell in the beat of your heart, and that pushing pulse of blood through your veins? You remember that time when you found that snow was actually whispers from the stars, or the event where you understood that the blue of the sky was only a figment of the imagination?

Heh.
Of course not.

I know everything there is to know about you, though. I was there at your birth, and will be the one that will lead your spirit when you die. I know what you look like, how you smile, I even know what kind of shampoo you use on your hair.
I could even tell you what time it says on your clock right now.
Nothing new.

Even so, there's one thing I can't tell you.
I can't say where the cogs of fate will take us today.

I can say (without kindest retribution), that dear old fate wanted me to deliver a message to you, though. A story of past times, sort of like a plea for help.

...Don't look at me. I could care less. In fact, if the world didn't exist, then I wouldn't either. What a wonderful kind of premonition. To be blissfully numb and unaware of anything, forever and ever...

Hunh? Oh right, the story.
Just don't come crawling to me if you find that it's too much for your intake.

Pheonix Era - Syphons 11.467.934 INITIATE MESSAGE: . . .
CONNECTION FAILED.// RESTARTING . . .

An empty howl echoed from the cave backings, filtered off between stalactites and eager drops of water. Rigid corpses fashionably lined the walls, blood that had been rotting far too long peeling off and leaving little trace of existence. It had only been three days since a time that nobody could remember.
A time when life was just a four letter feeling.
Looking back upon it now, once could conclude it was pointless. Nobody was there to remember it, after all.

"Everyone was so busy arguing over each other that they could not even save themselves..." a somewhat bored tone rang out, rich and philosophized with the wisdoms of ages past. It rang in silence for a few moments, hanging with thick, absolute truth.

"Everyone was so split apart, that they could not regroup in time...how amusing."

REGROUPING NEW DATA. . .
PING 485.029.489 FOUND
INITIATING MESSAGE: . . .
//.SYSTEM ON.//

Dust wrung fruitlessly into the air, spreading it's wide, pallid hands away. Far off in the distance stood a group of mindless beings, their ashen hair and eyes wavering nervously in the new time.

The world had just come into focus, pin lines running through two toned vision. The beings standing there were quite shaken from what had happened-
all of their previously saved data had been erased in an emergency shutdown.

Not that this wasn't a bad thing. It was. Not a one of them had any clue of how they got here, huddled around their former commanding officer.
His darkened expression ran right under their feet.

"Wh..what should we do..?" one whispered out, his usual monotone broken by a stunned silence.
The others nodded in agreement. "Our leader has fallen here before us...surely our orders were not incorrect?"
The small crowd murmered among each other against the wind.
"That is impossible. Our orders were never incorrect. They-"
"His death shows error."
Another long pause.
"His blood is not red...then it is not within error."
More murmurs and nodding from the others. Their pale, white faces were easy to make out, each body form laced in bandages from the neck down.
"Should we move without him, then?"
. . .
The forbidden question.

In truth, these people had never been without guidance before. They had never asked questions, never felt fear. They were educated in only one thing- If it was warm blooded, then off went the head.

A younger one with long hair approached the subject, "We are the survivors. Survivors must survive. My data can comprehend that he was not a survivor."

A few nervous glances were exchanged, before the group started to warily move off. They had no destination- how could they? There was nothing to arrive to. No lakes, no forests, no borders or inhibitions.

A shrill laugh ran among the stars, shattering those close enough to render its presence.
"I distinctly remember you saying: 'Make them think, act, and talk like data. Make them organic computers, if you will. That way, their lives can have purpose of being...obsolete.'
Breaking out of the code, they were too much for you, weren't they.

Traselle?"

The main race of people on Core are called 'Dia'. There are many other races, of course, but they are the minorities in comparison.
Dia are basically animalistic elves, born from dead stars.

A picture of the night sky. One of these stars will eventually fall, and be pulled down to Core.

Methos, the ghost boy who resides at Ghost Lake, stores these stars within the stargrove in drops of dew, and calls upon them when new Ochrum need to be made.

[THE CORENIAN WORLD]

The Corenian world is not a technologically advanced society. Most of the planet is wilderness, save for two cities and dozens of scattered, rural towns.

User Image

Within these many continents and oceans, lie the largest city on the planet: Leis. Leis is located in the main continent of Sarguu, and houses some of Core's most cutting edge sciences. It is the only place on the planet that has an implemented law system, a Courthouse, as well as an official school, library, bank, orphanage, and hospital. Leis tends to be overpopulated, and everything there is at least half the portion for twice the price.

The second largest city on the planet is called Karan, and is also located in the main continent of Sarguu. While overshadowed by Leis in terms of the cutting-edge, Karan holds the most important buildings around. The Emperor's Tower, (where each and every emperor live), and the SUEDE building, the largest faction of military recruitment in the world. Karan isn't much of a place for normal citizens to live, unfortunately, as it consists entirely of small, unimportant governmental buildings.

Other scattered villiages and rural towns are commonly next to the ocean. Each continent has a single town it is known for- for example, Sisil, Meshon's town, is known for grapenuts (a type of nut that tastes like a grape). Most villiages have bunches of adobe/brick housing, or marble and stone if the people there are rich enough.

Please check out the guild atlas table if you are confused on the continents of Core.

[MAGIC AND THE SHAMAN]

Since there really are no bathtubs, lightbulbs, or stoves, as many Corenians as possible have taken up the usage of magic. Unfortunately, not every average Joe can learn magic. You have to be born with it.
Dia born with these capabilities are considered somewhat of higher social status. Families that have birthed Dia that are capable of magic are also considered to be of high status, which has lead to many kidnappings.
The usual array of magic available for Dia to learn are: Fire, Water, Earth, and Ice properties.
Really, the only magic capable of being learned is the kind that can draw upon Core's life force. However, magic is most often than not forbidden for fighting others, as it is meant for aiding people less fortunate.
Rumors have been going around that there are Wind, Lightning, Dark and Light casters out there too. What they could use this type of magic for, other than fighting and doing harm, is beyond me. You can guess the rumors aren't good ones. ;P

Every town has at least five people each than can use fire, ice, water, and earth properties to help others. These twenty or so people hold high positions within a villiage, and are called shaman. Shaman are quite important to the average Corenian society. Without them, the crops wouldn't grow, the food wouldn't get cooked and preserved, and no one would be able to bathe.
Shaman are usually asked to dress elaborately with colours that symbolize their element. Most of the time, they go around town refilling water barells, ice barells, fire barells, surplus and more (Barells are a sort of element holding tank that are made of magic, and last as long as the Shaman's powers last. Some Corenians find it annoying that, after a particular shaman leaves or dies, they have to get a new barrell!).
Sometimes, when Shaman disagree, destructive battles may ensue. To be sure that this doesn't happen, magic weilders are usually trained to be calm and passive.
Lately there has been a negetive wave of Shaman abusing their powers and losing their sanity, which has led to many fearing the title.

[THE MAGIC TOURNAMENT]

Every once in awhile, a large magic tournament is held to see who will claim the ranks of Shaman. It can last for over a week or more, depending on how strong each magic weilder is. This grand tournament consists of head to head battles within a giant arena.
At the start of the tournament, users are given a quick recap on what elements may be stronger against others (if they have not learned it in school).

Each Dia has markings underneath their eyes. These marking are their clans, or the symbols of their heritage.

[TAURUS]
[GEMINI]
[LEO]
[SCORPIO]
[PISCES]
[ARIES]
[AQUARIUS]
[CAPRICORN]
[SERPENS]
[LIBRA]
[VIRGO]
[SAGITARRIUS]
[CANCER]

The clan backgrounds have been lost within the sand of time, and only a select few know them.
They will each be found out... eventually.

Note: All snake Dia are immediately put in the clan Serpens.

There is a new clan walking around, called clan Opiuchus. The people walking around under this clan don't have any markings at all.
What could that mean?

User Image
Well, each Dia comes from an animal, correct? Many animals have a general, stereotipical description..

-Ant-
Ants are one of the most obedient group of peoples on Core. They are hardworking, straightforward, and fill up their time by staying busy. Ants tend to have the fear of being apart from the rest, and not conforming with the others.

-Bear-
Bears are a very literal race. They are the straight A students, and when it comes to book smart, they are all ears. Because of this literal-ness, some would describe them as computers, loving data and facts more than philosophy.

-Beetle-
Beetles are known for being very strong in mind and body. They love challenges and taking on twice the load that they are capable of. However, they do not like people witnessing them breaking down or being hurt, so Beetles tend to harbor many problems on their own shoulders.

-Bird-
The Bird race is infamous for short tempers and violence. While this is not always the case, many birds carry long grudges and narrow point of veiws.
On the flip side of the coin, many Birds are also lucid dreamers, and have quite big imaginations.

-Bloodsucking Insects-
This race is (quite possibly) the stupidest race on all of Core. They are annoying, overdependent, and just flat out moronic. These people are thought to be insane, as they worship statues. Bloodsuckers have the largest of all the populations of people on The Core. Willing to follow a leader of their own kind, these people could easily destroy all the other races in one simple sweep. Problem is, as said before, none of them are really smart enough to follow a leader.

-Butterfly-
This race is known for being extremely fragile. They are easily broken (physically or mentally), and are very suceptible to disease. However, the Butterfly race is also known for carrying a sort of beautiful sadness/grace, and many are artistically inclined because of it.

-Cat-
Cats are known for being curious troublemakers. They love to cause destruction wherever they go, and are most often than not very dangerous. Because of this, most felines are unwelcome around the globe.
It is within this race that the saying started: "Curiosity killed the cat."
Side Note: The race of Cats harbor something called a 'strong line'. Which means that if feral or domesticated felines are born, they are immediately thrown away. Most (if not all) Cats are wild.

-Dog-
Dogs are an extremely friendly and trusting race. Most Dogs are extremely naive and are not good judges of character. Because of this, they usually end up being the used instead of the user.
Almost all Dogs are domesticated, except the wolf and the fox. This is so because, for example, a Hyena would probably bite someone's head off.
Side Notes: The wolf and fox races consider themselves separate from the dog race, and are disgraced to be mentioned as part of them. Wolves are loners in their own right, but work intellegently in packs to bring down a foe stronger than them. They have specific rankings, orders, and strategies they use for every day life. They are usually the cold, and distant members of Core.
Foxes, on the other hand, are considered bad omens and are always shooed from places that do not want trouble caused. They love to play tricks and are loners even inside of their own family. They are quite intellegent, more so than cats, and are very crafty.

-Dolphin-
This race is known for being just about good at everything they do. Dolphins tend to be one of the best swimmers on Core, as they move with a sort of undescribable grace and intellegence. Unfortunately, this makes Dolphins one of the most hated races out there. They are shunned for killing the competition.

-Dragonfly-
Dragonflies are quite fond of precious stones and sparkling objects. They are a very proud race, and like to flaunt things. Dragonflies are also the most shallow peoples on Core, and prefer extravagance and money over love and companionship.

-Fish-
Fish tend to swim the best out of all creatures on Core. They cannot stay out of the water for more than a few hours at a time.
Fish are also the only race on Core where everyone is different. Random diversity coincides with reality, as they always say.

-Frog-
This race loves mathematical things. They mainly name their trade in buisness and architecture, because their minds are so in tune to the analytical study of such processes. Unfortunately, this also makes the Frog race forget about the big picture of things half of the time.

-Horse-
The Horse race is very renown for longevity. They are reserved thinkers, quiet and very shy. Most keep their thoughts to themselves.
However, this race is respectable too reserved- almost to the point where it takes months just to find out who called on a telephone. They are a very hard race to get close to know.

-Lizard-
This race is laidback, and always marches to the beat of a different drum. Lizards have a keen sense of taste and make great chefs, as they are gourmets on food.
Sadly, most Lizards are extremely nuetral on every aspect, and tend to not have any opinions or ideas of their own.

-Monkey-
The Monkey race is very playful. In fact, all they like to do is play. People of this race tend to be happy-go-lucky people. On the flip side, Monkeys are very mischeivious pranksters, and love to joke around. They are rarely ever serious. Most of their jokes, however, are harmless.

-Mouse-
The race of Mice are very shrewd. They are a very materialistic type of people (aka packrats), and are very cautious and take great care about overthinking things. They are also very skittish, and are quick to break trusts when they seem to be in danger.
Side notes: Kangaroos do not consider themselves mice. They are very protective of their young and care less about material then their own flesh and blood. They are The Core's best jumpers. However, Kangaroos have a tendency to be lazy.

-Pig-
Pigs are very humble people. They take life as it comes, trying to fully enjoy every second. Pigs, ironically, also tend to get stuck in the past, and are constantly retelling old memories instead of making new ones.

-Rabbit-
Rabbits are natural runners and can run for quite a while at swift speeds. They are fast to make friends, and are considered good luck charms by many. Unfortunately, Rabbits tend to be over hyperactive at times and their energy can make them clumsy. Since they are so outgoing, they always say what's on their mind, whether the comment be rude or not.

-Scorpion-
This Race seems to constantly have a sexy, rugged air about them. They are quiet and very thoughtful, but can also be very selfish. These people are rebels, down with the last one. They don't even have a cause. They just like being badass. ;D

-Seal-
Seals are known for their charm. They are crafty in that respect, and use their cuteness to their advantage. Seals also use this charm to glide by in life, hence the fact that they lack many ordinary skills that one would learn on their own.
Side notes:
Walrus people seem to not follow the Seal cuteness. They are a very adult and proud race, and find it below themselves to associate with Seals.

-Snake-
Snakes are extremely dark, morbid creatures. They are very mysterious and little is known about them, because they always hide their true personalities. The snake race is manipulative, emotionless, and very rarely seen by daylight.

-Spider-
Spider people have heightened senses, and are excellent at needlework/weaving. They tend to be cool and confident, but many Spiders have a power-trip issue. These people have deformed, flightless wings, and two extra arms. This kind of makes them freaks in the Corenian society.

-Turtle-
Turtles are a very kind, serene, and tolerant race. They love to take things slow. Turtles are also known for being the wisest race on Core. They enjoy telling stories. However, Turtles have no sense of humor and are slow on the uptake. They are also knowledge hungry.

-Wasp-
Wasp people have the willowly frame and fragility of Butterflies, but none of the grace. They are excellent multitaskers.
One word: OCD. They are a very stressed species, and will easily break down in a case of nerves.

-Weasel-
The Weasel race is very buisness oriented. They know how to scrape money together and how to get a good bargain. However, Weasels are extortionists. They tend to be very greedy.
Notes about Badgers:
The Badger people like to think themselves as being apart from the Weasel race, for the hold money has over them is much weaker. Family bonds and forgiveness are closer than money in their hearts.

I'm sure this question has gone around to the people here on gaia at least once in their lifetimes:

If you could be any animal in the world, what would you pick?
User Image
Now for the final tidbits of information you'll need to know to understand life here.

User Image

This is called a Roku Roku.

Roku Roku are basically learning stones. A dia grabs a hold of one, they learn a certain skill.

There are always Roku Roku quests going on. Please refer to the guild if you would like to understand on how exactly to recieve them.

User Image
Events are another special little bonus of roleplaying around Core. Roleplay enough, and you'll recieve one of the three events.

[SPECIAL EVENTS]

Events happen every so often, depending on how long each post was. This kind of event is marked by a Kaekigel or a Raptor and
Big Bold Text. You usually recieve items such as Semi Roku and other rarities. However, they can be taken away as well.

Considering that Raptors and Kaekigels are important enough to take and give away items, what exactly are they?

Raptors are the scourge of the Kola Mines. They usually lurk in dark corners, waiting for an unsuspecting traveller to meander past. A person can always tell when one or a group of Raptors may be coming, because they make an incandescent, bubbly kind of clicking nose that sounds remarkably like children giggling.

Raptors only live in the Kola Mines, so you don't have to worry about them as long as you don't go in... razz .

Kaekigels, unlike Raptors, live all around Core. They are small little faeries that enjoy collecting items and then 'accidentally' dropping them in convenient places for people to find. They always make ringing noises when they are around, and smell strongly of lavender.

You can catch Kaekigels if you have a net in your item chest, as they sell for a lot of buks. Warning: If you try to catch them, and if they escape, they will take the item they gave with them.
User Image
The growth requirements for each Dia are set near the bottom of their picture. ;3

User Image
[Ochrum]
Well! It seems your star has fell and has taken up residence in an animal. As you can see, the star mutates the animal into a sort of lamp-like creature we call an Ochrum.
Ochrum can only communicate with their own kind. They actually are extremely wise, and know many things from the ancient past that would help the world.

If only they could talk...
Growth Req: RP At ghost lake.

[Child]
Your Ochrum has morphed into... this? A child!
When an Ochrum grows into a child, they forget everything they once knew about the world. The star within them splits off into a familiar, which is still called an Ochrum.
The familiar cannot be appart from the Dia for very long.
Growth Req: 4 com and un roku of your choice, as well as the SENSES quest.

-Overview-
The SENSES quest is basically when one of the Non's take all of your Dia's senses away except one of your choice (this choice will already be determined if your Dia is lacking in a sense. Ex: A blind Dia will gain sight for this quest.) and hide each of them in four different continents. You may escort your Dia to the said continents, but ultimately they come to their senses on their own.

[Teen]
Your Child has finally grown into a teenager. Congrats! Nothing much could be said here, except that they are more skilled in the ways of the world, and that their ochrum has grown too.

Growth Req: Passing the Sky and Water/Kaos Trials, being accepted into Deltea, and graduating.

[Young Adult]
Congrats! Teen to a young adult. Still becoming more skilled, they should be able to take care of themselves now. Young adults are generally between the ages 18-35.
Growth Req: Travelling to each continent on Core.

[Adult]
Your young adult has grown a little older, and by now they have probably gained scars/wisdom from what they do in life. At this stage, Dia may settle down with other Dia and form families.
Growth Req: Plucking a fruut off of the Anima Tree.

-Overview-
The Anima Tree was the first being to ever live on Core. It rests in the center of Kikazii, the giant meadow in Darune. This tree grows many forbidden fruuts, that of which Dia are forbidden to eat (bad things are rumored to happen if a Dia eats a fruut before their time). There are four: The stardust fruut, the essence fruut, the chrono fruut, and the sargum fruit. The only way a Dia is allowed to pick a fruut off of the anima tree is if they have collected every single Ochrum.

[Crescent Falling ???]
Little is known about this stage, as those who reach it never come back to tell the tale.

Baniru (Mu)

The creator, artist, certist, tagger and author for Crescent Falling. So don't give her any crap. On another note, she is a crazy Apple and Black Licorice Whore.

Astrum Aura (Fu)

The editor, organizer, and co owner for the shop. She's the one responsible for the nice, neat writing, as Baniru makes many typo mistakes when she's up writing this stuff at 3 in the morning. XD

Nyozeka Ko (Ko)
She's our Uncle Ko. >X3 She's also responsible for the mailing list, which no one else has the time for.

[Ogin] (Chibi)
Our head bumper! She really gets kudo points for this, I swear. She also has control over certain events.

Mouse Pachinkorelli (Mouse)
<3 She helps draw things, as well as let me use many of her images. (Like the sky was hers, and many of the runes are hers as well.)

I have to give a shout out to Astrum Aura, cassiopeia_starkitten, and Mouse so far, as they have come up entirely with the rune section themselves.
Okay guys, I have a big announcement to make.

It comes from the bottom of my heart, and off the top of my head. I'm serious about this- anyone making jokes about me will be thrown out of my shop.

It... goes something like this:

I was browsing the breedables forum, (a rarity, since I never get the chance to do so anymore), and I happened to come upon the Fa'e thread once again. I've been around the place, but I've never really been there, if you catch my drift.

I saw Yanisin had grown, the only Fa'e I was really impartial to as for looks. So naturally, I decided to check out his journal.

BAM.

Reading Jadeye's entry that got her Yanisin, I began to cry. Not because of what it was about, not because of the legends or concept, but what she was saying.
There was a deepness there I had never found in gaia or real life, for that matter. A sweet, subtle care for everything and anything that she was talking about, that I had never experienced.

It was beautiful.

Reading on, I realized that not only did she treat this imaginary character like it was all that mattered- she actually loved him.

It's what I'm was missing. What many people are missing today.

That fondness for loving whatever they do, sharing their wealth of happiness with everyone around them.
The people in that thread come together as almost one. They don't bicker or play the false attention grabber, sad or no.

They were full, complete, whole. They were... beautiful.

Now read what I'm about to say very carefully, because I won't tolerate any less.

I don't want people coming into this that treat the pets here like just some common, everyday imaginary creature. Give them your all, treat them as if they were alive. This means you, breedable whores, which I know some have gotten one of these pets. (Hell, I'm a breedable whore myself.) This isn't about greed, or having a pet with good art, or a good storyline for that matter. The children that come from here are to be treated as if they were a real child. Your one and only. The love of your life.

I'm not asking you to neglect your other pets, or to treat the child you get from here better than them. I'm asking you to CARE.

I'm asking you... to care.

To show your love and attention to your character and make it real. Make it breathe, make it sing, fill it's heart with your own and keep the good memories with you until you no longer want them.

Please, don't just make 'another' OC, or have this pet because it seems 'cool'.

Play because you love to play... and put effort into what you love.

That's all, I guess.
