Year 3000, and Earth has finally found another habitable world - Terra Beta.
Terra Beta was actually discovered earlier during the 30th century through a space exploration commanded by now world-renowned astronaut James Callan. The discovery however, may have been an accident. Hercules, the name of their space shuttle, lost communications with base and a second shuttle piloted by McAuliffe was sent after him and his crew. By the use of a tracking chip installed into the shuttle's hull, McAuliffe and his crew were able to find the location of Hercules and landed on what is now Terra Beta. The planet they had found was teeming with life, and the natural environment was very similar to Earth. Streams, rivers, oceans, forests, jungles, mountains, valleys - Terra Beta was Earth untouched. When McAuliffe led a small rescue squad to find Callan and his crew, they only managed to find Hercules. Callan and his crew was nowhere to be seen. The strange thing was that Hercules was fully intact and required no repair. In fact, the shuttle had just enough fuel to travel back to Earth. The rescue squad spent days searching for survivors but had no luck.
Instead, they found massive animals. Scientists later named them to correspond with the food they ate but collectively named them as Terra Beasts. It seemed that these animals were all really just one specie. The food they ate as they matured determined how they would look as fully grown adults. The change was remarkable. Almost no differentiation was present during the first three stages of life but as they became fully matured, the differences occurred rapidly. At first, society wanted to hunt them for food, but they later found that the taste was horrid and their meat was far too tough. As Terra Beta's human population grew, the domestication of these animals became more popular. But because they were far too large to live in homes, the wealthy purchased and reserved lands for their new pets.
After countless battles over whether or not the domestication of Terra Beasts should be allowed, the allowance won out and society became creative with what they could do with their pets. Thus, Natural came to existence - a contest among owners. Of course violent use of the animals is illegal, but Natural is different. Natural is comprised of several competitions and games, all testing specific abilities of the pets. The prizes change each time, but the players always come back.
- Unfortunately, with the existence of Natural and the Terra Beasts, Hercules' crew was sadly forgotten and they were never found.
