Hello and welcome to the Gaian Humane Society event thread! I'm your host, Alex, and as you may or may not know, I'm just back from a super-long and unproductive hiatus. So! To get back into the swing of things and to bring some activity back to the GHS thread, I'll be offering several chances for current and prospective owners alike to adopt their perfect cat or dog! Just a note for those unfamiliar with our policies - We name all of the pets at GHS before they are sold, however owners may always decide to rename them once they are adopted. It's just nicer-sounding than calling them "Kitten #1" or "Puppy A" for the purpose of sales. :3

Okay, I won't belabor this point much, because this is super-simple. Here we have a custom auction. You know the deal, winner gets to decide everything. Colouring, breed, cert, you name it. At the moment, I won't do lineart edits, but if the HB gets high enough, I'll allow it.

Other than that, go wild! We don't offer full customs that often, so if you have something specific in mind for your ideal GHS, now's your chance! smile

Writing Contest!

This will be one of those kind of contests where I give you a situation for this pet, and you write a story based on that scenario. The best story, judged by yours truly, will win the contest!

And everyone should participate in this one, because this is a very special contest! The winner will be adopting the very first GHS canine ever to use this lineart [Bernese mountain dog/Newfoundland/Big fluffy whatever you want to call it breed]. May I introduce... Leonardo! (Or as his friends know him, Leo)



Adorable, I know. So, you're interested in adopting this fella? Yes? Great!

There's just one thing. Leo is... Well, whoever owned him before he ended up here at GHS obviously did nothing in the way of training, obedience or otherwise. As you can see, Leo is full-grown (We don't know exactly how old, probably around four), and he is ENORMOUS. Probably one of the biggest dogs GHS has ever placed.

Now, as far as personality goes, he's a great dog. He's as sweet as can be, though he's extremely energetic, which combined with his size can make him very destructive. Also, he seems to have considerable separation anxiety, so if you leave him at home for the day while you're out somewhere, he'll probably spend the whole time barking and trying to chew a hole through the door. He also loves toys, but he'll manage to destroy just about anything you give him, so take heed. So, now that you have an idea of what you're getting into... still interested? You are? Super! Instructions: To win this contest, you'll be writing something, I guess you could consider it a short story or some kind of RP, whatever strikes your fancy. The scenario is as follows. Since Leo obviously is a difficult dog to find a suitable home for, because of his size and behaviour, GHS is allowing anyone who thinks they're up to the task to take in Leo for a trial period to see who can handle him the best. You are to write about how you would go about making a suitable home for him. Be creative!

I'll answer questions about this event as they present, but this contest is officially open! Post entries here in the thread, and I'll link to them in this post.

For the duration of this event, we'll also be having a free raffle, which will be open to everyone. All you have to do is post here requesting your ticket in the format specified, and you'll be added to the list! Since it's free of charge, there's obviously also only one ticket per person. wink

To claim your ticket, you MUST POST YOUR REQUEST IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT. If you don't use the right format, your request will be ignored. The reason for this is that I can't keep track of everyone's ticket requests unless they're easy for me to see while skimming the pages. smile
