"What is this all about, anyway?"- You might ask. Well, to explain, you'll have to understand Soap Operas. You don't have to like them (because I don't either), but simply realize what they are: Drama. Lot's and lot's of it. This shop is all about the characters, the RP, and the drama. It doesn't really have a great "story" because it's all fairly normal and real life drama :3. I know many people will be throwing tomatoes at me for my lack of creativity, but I personally don't believe there has to be a good past-story; only an entertaining present-RP-plot. 3nodding Anyway...

"So what's with the lock of hair stage? What's behind that?" The lock of hair that transforms into your child is the only real thing you could relate to a "storyline" type thing. So let me explain that now...

Pirate(me) has a lot of energy; magical energy that is. She is also an Elf, whom is trained and otherwise knowingly associated with magic and spells. After moving to Boca Raton, Florida, she needed some way make a living, and what better way than start an adoption center? Exotic pets was her original idea... species of animals that people had never seen before. But over time, she realized she could magically create something even more amazing than that; children.

All she needed was a lock of her Elven hair(Elven hair is magical, and it would not work with any human's), an enchanted clip or band, and a spell that never quite works out the same way twice. Because of a previous spell cast on her self, her hair will immediately grow back after the small bit is clipped off. She clips on an enchanted clip or band to hold the hair together, then casts a spell on it that she worked very hard to create(changing the color of her normally black hair). This spell allows an entity, almost like a spirit, to grow within the hair and then emerge as a child once it forms a safe bond with it's guardian. Because the spell is not very controlled or has not been previously studied, it forms a different human every time. For the same reason, it also has a few mistakes(known as "Special Genes" wink that may alter the appearance or even the very species of the child that emerges. With that said, no two children will ever be the same... in appearance or personality.

Now Pirate sells the enchanted locks of hair in this very shop so that every child will have a chance to loving guardian. In order to keep track of how each child is being treated, Pirate asks that all guardians visit with their child once and a while to stay in touch with her and to allow their magically formed kid to get acquainted with the others. ^_^

//: Stages of Life_____________________

There are currently fives stages to the growth process of your BR character. Lock of Hair, Child, Teen, Young Adult, and Adult. So far there is nothing after that.

//: Lock of hair_____________________



This is the first stage of your BR character. It will seem lifeless and all around boring, but remember it is enchanted. You will have to RP and or write journal entries for it to emerge from the hair. If you want some kind of certain personality twist in the future, then role-playing in this stage is imperative. (Ex. You accidentally drop your lock of hair into water, later on after emerging, your BR character develops a fear of water. Play with this general idea as much as you want ~_^) If I am satisfied with your amount of involvement, it should take around 1 week to emerge from this stage and into a child.

//: Child_____________________



Alright! It's the child stage, you can finally RP with a sentient being! This stage covers the ages of 5-12, feel free to pick an age for your child while submitting an adoption form. I think it will be much easier to interact and RP in this stage, so I do expect to see you around often ^_~. After all, this is like a soap opera! Drama means RP! Alot! XD ... If I am satisfied with your amount of involvement, it should take around 2-3 weeks to grow from this stage and into a teenager.

//: Teenager_____________________



As a teenager, you're BR character is becoming more aware of themselves, and of other characters. RPing is absolutely a necessity now because your character is deciding who they are and what their place in life will be. Between squabbles and crushes, they're relationships with family and friends grow deeper or more far apart; depending on what kind of drama you're looking for lol. This stage covers the ages of 13-17, feel free to pick an age for your teen while submitting an adoption form. If I am satisfied with your amount of involvement, it should take around 4 weeks to grow from this stage and into a young adult.

Note: You're character may reproduce at this stage. *ties Erik in a knot* >.>

//: Young Adult_____________________



Oh my! You're character is growing up, and they are now able to be out on their own and get a job :0! *tear* He/she will be more mature both physically and mentally (we hope lol!). Their relationships and ties in the world become even deeper now, and things are getting serious! This stage covers the ages of 18-25, feel free to pick the age you want while filling out the adoption form ^^. If I am satisfied with your amount of involvement, it should take around 4 weeks to grow from this stage and into a adult.

//: Adult_____________________



Well you're character is finally full grown. It's sad, isn't it? T.T ... And also exciting too, since they now can do everything for themselves, and are totally responsible for every action and decision they make wink . They have hopefully figured out who they are, and what their goals in life are. This stages covers all ages above 25, and you may pick a specific age while filling out the adoption form. This is the final stage; there will be no more growths after this (so far). BUT... that does not mean you can abandon the shop and you're character! If I don't see any activity over an extended period of time, you will be sent a warning, and then you're character can and WILL die. Yes, DIE. -.-

//: Breeding___________________

Firstly, breeding is the ONLY way to get a baby stage. All other characters start as the lock of hair stage.

Breeding is available to any two characters whom are above the child stage (this includes teens, young adults, and adults). It doesn't matter if they are different species or different ages (above the child stage of course).

After both parents agree they are ready to have children, it will take approximately 2 weeks before a child is born.

After successfully giving birth for the first time, the female character must wait until the offspring have grown into teens in order to breed again.

Teens can breed, but in that case, the female of the two will be unable to give birth a second time. I'm sorry, that's just how it is...

Two characters of the same sex may not give birth to their own children, obviously. On the other hand, they may ask Pirate to make them 1-2 new characters beginning in the "lock of hair" stage. Through this type of "breeding" you will not get a Baby stage.
((If it makes you angry that I don't let male-male, female-female couples get pregnant, then kindly keep it too your self because I really don't care. ;3 There's only a certain level of fiction I can handle u_u))

Some Special Genes will affect breeding, good or bad. The following is a list of Spc.Genes that affect breeding, and what they do.

Neko-ce: May allow your character up to 4 children.
Kitsu-ce: See above ^
Hachu-ce: See above ^
Bestia: See above ^
Angelus: May speed the breeding process considerably.
Infusco: 15% chance child will die at birth.
???: 45% chance of producing twins.
???: 45% chance of producing identical twins.

The actual breeding of two characters is free, but if you decide to keep the offspring it will be 8k per baby. If you do not wish to keep the offspring, you MAY NOT sell them yourself; they will be sold in a flatsale :3.

When your BR character is sick or injured, they may go to the hospital for treatment. It will always be open. You MUST visit if your character needs medical attention (ex. broken leg, loss of blood, phenomena, etc)... if you do not, then his/her injury may result in further complication or even death. To be admitted to the hospital, simply send me (PirateElf) a pm containing the name of your character and the sickness or injury. He/she will stay a few nights in the hospital, and will return to you cured and ready to go! Your first hospital visit is free of charge, every visit after that costs 75gp! =0 Try not to get too beat up!

Has your character been a bad boy :0 ...(or girl)? If they are caught, or reported, they may end up in jail! They will be sentenced with a certain amount of time to spend in prison where they will be unable to RP or attend any special events. If you do not wish to wait so long, you may "bail" him/her out by paying a sum of money. The amount of time and amount of money will depend on what you character has done wrong. (ex. drug abuse = 1 week 3 days prison sentence, with a 450gp bail. Other people may lend you money for bail, or even bail your character out themselves. ALSO: Every criminal act will be recorded as your BR char's "criminal record".

Special Genes are a gene that a BR character may carry that will give special traits to them and/or their offspring. 3nodding Carrying a gene doesn't nessesarily mean you character will have that trait, but once they reproduce, their offspring will most likely have the trait (ex. A carrier of the Angelus gene has offspring with a carrier of Bestia, the children may be angel-winged, anthro, or both).

Inactive Gene: Any spc. gene that is carried, but /not/ applied in the character's physical appearance. It will most likely switch to an active or dormant gene when passed on to their offspring. (Note: May be stimulated into an active gene by the Lab NPC.)
Active Gene: Any spc. gene that is carried /and/ applied in the characters physical appearance.
Dormant Gene: Any spc. gene that is in a condition of biological rest; carried but not applied in the physical appearance of the character. It is inactive, but capable of becoming active at any moment.

To find out if your character carries a special gene, you have the option of paying 200gp to scan them in the hospital (if they're not already scanned). Special genes may or may not have an effect on characters and their offspring; and sometimes it may take a few growths for the change to occur.

Also, to remove a special gene from your BR char that you don't want, you can pay 400gp. Send PM to me (PirateElf).

Pirate is currently figuring out a way to "give" characters the special genes that they want (even though they are technically "mistakes" wink , but so far it is a slow going process. There will be more information on this as it becomes available...
