It started out like a normal day; everyone woke up and got ready for their day. It was summer, a time most people went on long vacations to where ever their money would let them, while others would just hole up in their homes and play video games. No one was prepared for when disaster would strike. Sure, you've planned with your families about worst case scenarios, you've laid out the plans and strategies, but when it really happens, you find you can’t remember a single plan.
In the beginning it was just simple weather changes, where some places were abnormally hot others were cold and then there was a surplus in natural disasters-but nothing to cause too much alarm-….and finally worldwide chaos like the flip of a light switch. Earthquakes, tornadoes, and tsunami swept through the lands and seas. Chaos erupted everywhere as many people struggled to survive. Neighbors suddenly weren't helpful like they’d been before; they were in survival of the fittest mode. Those who trusted each other grouped together for a better survival chance, because it was known that a person on his or her own would surely die.
Now, four years later and it’s the year 2016. It’s been a while since the disasters struck and now that things seem to be somewhat leveling out there have been refugee camps put together. They aren't much, but survival is in numbers. They are generally run by Military trained men and women while others are run but people who have excelled in survival. They are scattered around the nations, but mostly in places where a clean water source is available.
In America most state parks are vacant, especially Yellow Stone. The huge volcano hasn't erupted, but it’s more alive than it has been in years and most animals have vanished to inhabit the country like they’re ancestors did before them. Most people have fled the nation more southern regions to escape the disaster just waiting to happen in Yellow Stone as well as the vicious animals that have turned on man. You definitely won’t find a coyote band running away form a human anymore, they will turn on anyone and eat them if it means survival for them.
However, there are some who have survived, or even those who never belonged in American in the first place. They have come in search of the rumored city full of people who are getting back on their feet after losing their homes and in some cases families. They’re said to be in the mountain range of the Sierra Nevada, but to the land once called California, many have to pass the man eating bears and wolves and even the thriving zoo animals who won’t think twice at killing the humans that once fed them.

Role Play Rules
Posting
1.) I’d like for you guys to post at least once a week if possibly. Each post should have at least 300 hundred words, writer’s block is understandable as I get that too, but please at least 300! Remember, I have to do the same so I know how you feel. (word count tool)
2.) Make your posts pretty, using your common sense that bright colors WILL hurt not only my eyes but other people’s.
3.) I’d really appreciate it if you guys could bold other people’s names in your posts, so if you talking about the character or to the character and the name pops up, you better have it bolded.
Reserves/Profiles:
1. Reserves are to be sent first with the words I Will Survive, so I know you read the rules.
2. After you send in the reserve and I accept, send the profile. Once accept you may post within the week.
3. Real photos only please, no anime of anything.
4. You can have as many people as you wish, but please keep up with them. If you can't keep up with them then we'll have to kill them off.
General Rules:
1. No God modding situations, meaning ask the other person before you kill/hit, unless you’ve agreed on the generators.
2. Please don’t over load the thread with OOC posts, that’s what the OOC thread is for, but I’ll allow some.
3. I don’t mind romance or violence, but keep it reasonable. I don’t know, like pg-17? But then again these days that’s pretty bad isn’t it?
4.You don't have to start the rp inside the city, you can be a newcomer into the city, have a scout find you.
5. All new rules will be the color of dark red.

City Law
1. No one leaves without the leader knowing about it. All must go to him for a pass or have their superiors of their ranks get a pass. This is a law to help keep people from going missing. If someone doesn't come back within a certain amount of time then there will be a search party sent out.
2. No rank is set in stone, anyone can move from their ranks if they prove they are worthy of the position. Even the leader can be demoted, but only if the majority of the people agree.
3. All New comers are misfits until proven their worth
4. Punishment is sentenced by the Leader, after being discussed with the head of each rank and Second in command
5. In emergencies, all citizens of Survival City must hunker down in the Leader's basement or the basement in the barn where both the leader and second in command will take role of everyone there. Once the disaster has passed then the Leader and Second in command will decide if there are anyone missing and send out search parties.
6. Everyone takes part in the clean-up, no role gets away free, the Leader hands out the citizens their jobs.
7. Laws may be added or changed at any time.
8. There is not any currency, only trading. Any currency there ever was is now just paper with no value.

A place where a few came together to make a livable homes that range from either elaborate tents to small cabins, though with the amount of disasters, most cabins are destroyed before they get built. Though, high up in the trees the elaborate tree houses seem to do well, at least when it’s a sturdy tree that can withstand the winds. Though high up in the mountains tornadoes are rare, but can happen.
They have sled dogs for winter, hunting dogs, birds for communication over distances, and even horses to help with the heavy lifting and carrying. Through trading they put together a small herd of goats and sheep and cows aren’t too rare; you might find a cow herd or two protected by a huge bull.
Here in the City, everyone has a place. They work from dawn until dusk, except a few days out of the week when it’s break day. Usually once you’re given a work spot, you don’t move, but it’s possible to switch. So if you’re stuck at the bottom of the work list and you somehow prove yourself that your worthy of said spot, than the leader can choose to place you elsewhere.

Here in the City, there is a hierarchy; you must have a place in this society to survive. They aren’t too friendly to people who are labeled useless and won’t tolerate people who laze about. Unless you’re not sure what you want to be, you'll come to the city as a misfit and ask to be put in you positions. If the Leader (who is npc until someone plays as he/she ) decided it likes you, than you will get the position. If not, try again another time, or prove you deserve the spot. Also, you can claim a spot, but you will still be a misfit and have to ask if you can have said position. You may get it right away or you can plot to have them wait till later.
The Guard
Leader:
The one lucky enough to be here makes tough decisions for the city that he or she thinks is the right decision. They are usually the age of 25 or older and can be demoted at any point in time if the citizens of the city unanimously disagree with everything about the leader.
2in in command:
Following up on the leader becomes his/her ‘right hand man’ that will take the place of the leader should the person die or be sick. Often the second in command will do a task that leader can’t do if he/she is busy. Most problems come through this person before reaching the leader unless it is urgent.
Warriors (4 for now):
The guards have a high status because they protect the citizens. They seem to have a boring job of watching the grounds and walking the territories close to home, but without them there wouldn't be citizens, and for that the people are grateful.
Scouts (3 for now)
Scouts are people who are quick on their feet. They will scout out the areas for prey or even be spies if they need to be. They’re not much of fighters, but they are silent and you’ll never hear or see them if they don’t want you to.
Hunters (3 for now):
They are the ones who follow the scouts and hunt what they find. They bring home the food supply for the whole city. They are skilled in hunting and tracking and can be seen following behind the scouts during hunting parties.
Medics/Vets (one of each for now)
In the city you will need someone there to help the sick and hurt. The Medics and Vets are always there to help those in need; they are skilled in their ways and generally never lose a patient unless it is serious.
The Basic Ranks
Animal Tamers (3 for now):
These are the people who train and look after the animals of the city. Their job is to make sure they are tended for and always ready in case anyone needs them.
Black Smiths(1 for now)
The black smiths are those who deal with the metals, making guns, swords, etc..
Farmers(2 for now)
The Farmers are those who specialize in planting the herbs, fruits, and veggies.
Apprentices
Apprentices are people who have chosen to work and learn under the other ranks in hopes that they will become that rank.
Cook(only 2 [cook and their assistant])
This spot is a regular citizen that happens to excel in cooking and has taken upon the role of preparing food for the city. He/she may have helpers, though often they are the misfits or anyone in trouble. If the cook allows it then there can be an assistance cook.
Citizen
This is usually a rank for those who cannot have a rank. Maybe they're injured or incapable of working. They can still help in the city, doing odd jobs like being a messenger or helping watch any kids that may stumble upon the city. They are really just members of the city.
The Misfits:
Usually this is a rank for those who have just arrived and haven't found a place or those considered an 'Omega'. This is a low rank where no one will actually listen to what you have to say. Sometimes those who rebel and go against the system will be marked a mistfit. Those in this rank often have the chores that would be considered punishment for others, like helping the Tamers clean up the barn after the previous night's animal gathering, helping the cook with whatever chore he/she needs help with.

Disaster Of The Week (1-4)
1-Earthquake- rock slides inevitable, another random number generator will be used to see how bad the earthquake was. The worst being 5 and light being 1
2-Several thunder storms throughout the week that come and go. There may be a break in the storm every once in a while throughout the day. The lightning may or may not light up a fire which will be in another post as well 1 being fired and 2 being no fire. If there is a fire, there's nothing you can do besides wait for it to calm down and let the rain put it out or gather near the lake if it's inevitable to burn the city down.
3-Flood rains, generally there isn't a lot of thunder and lighting, just a constant down pour the whole week.
4-Perfect Day, for that week there won’t be any disasters and be pleasant with plenty of sunshine and perhaps a few puffy clouds drifting by.
Animal Attacks
It’s frequent here in the high mountainous valley for there to be animal attacks. Cougars, Bears, and other wild animals often try and target the humans for an easy meal. (1 and 7)
1: Rabid bear appears around the city, brutal murder scenes of animals and humans will be seen around the place.
2-3: A hunting cougar finds its way to the humans, brutal murder scenes of animals and humans will be seen around the place.
4-5: Deer passing through, hunt them to replenish food supply!
6: Wild dogs, feral dogs that have long left their old lives for a one that mirrors their ancestor’s lives. It’s not worth catching one, no doubt it would kill you if you got too close.
7: Wild horses. Since humans have left their lives they have banded together as they once have and roam along the lands. Sometimes they pass just a little too close to humans. Hunt them if you have to stomachs to, or even catch them and train them to be a house pet once more.

You have to find the animal before you can hunt or attack it! 1 means you've found the animal and 2 means you've lost it.

Along with the disasters each week, there's regular weather as well. In this post you'll find the date, time of day and the day itself as well as the month and events. I'll try and use the Weather Bug website as a reference for every day weather, but it's nearing summer in real life and winter in the roleplay so I'm not too sure how much help it will give me, I'll simply go from memory of what I know what be happening right now up in the mountains and maybe even do some research.

EVENTS
Halloween is here! Take this time to take a break from your chores and let the game begin! Just don't let your victim find out your plots. This is the time of year where many people can pull pranks and as long as you don't get caught you won't get punished!
Thanksgiving is coming up as well, just half a month away. While it's a bittersweet day, everyone gets that day off. It will be a day to remember loved ones and hopefully bring the city just a little bit closer to each other. Hunters and Scouts will be in business to prepare for this day, hunting and gathering to have one big feast at dusk. The Farmers and Chef will prepare the food, along with anyone else who wants to help.
Christmas~! Need I say more? It's a little over two months away! A time of giving and love. There won't be work on this day either, save for helping everyone remove snow from where it shouldn't be. While there won't be a big feast of Christmas dinner, having done that for thanksgiving, there will be a get together around the community fire and those who can will create music of some sort. Just beware the mistletoe that may be put up around the city.
Full Moon Bonfire is a time where everyone gathers after a hard day's work and relax. A time where everyone comes together for a little bonding and get to know your citizens a little more. If there are any announcements for the month than now is the time to say them. The Full Moon Bonfire lands on every full moon, hence the name, and is the same day as the Trading Fair. Those who stay at home will gather here. Usually the whole city will take part in this event, but sometimes not everyone will come.
Trading Fair Is an event that happens every month on the full moon and takes place in Yosemite Valley. This is where all sorts of people gather to trade for better things. Medical supplies, furs, foods and seeds from across the country, it's all here in this valley nestled in the Sierra Nevada. Groups sent out will be decided by the leader, and sometimes he/she may go with them leaving the second command in charge or sometimes it may be the other way around.
