You know what they say- "Nothing bad ever happens in Chicago".

No, it's not a joke. Maybe a few decades ago, it would have sounded like one. Crime rates were high, police were either too underfunded to do anything, or too corrupt to really care. There was trouble all over, and people knew better than to walk too carelessly on the streets at night.

That was then. Now, with the help of heroes throughout time, things are different. Better.
Faces and names cataloged in history over the decades stand as monuments to the changed world. Chicago, especially, remains as a example across the country of what good metahumans can do.

The hero Bastion, along with the efforts of others in the past, has changed the once dangerous city into somewhere safe. Prosperous and beautiful. A tourist hot spot more than it ever was before, in no small part due to people hoping to catch a glimpse of the hero. Since Bastion's rise to fame over the city, crime has fallen to unbelievable ranges. It's rare to hear of anything worse than a small robbery, minor altercations. The age of big time villains and common crime ended a long time ago.

Maybe not the whole world, or even the whole country, is at peace. But thanks to brave efforts and vigilance, the city has enjoyed the last six years (soon to be seven) in an unprecedented level of safety. The economy is good, the streets are safe. Gang activity is at record lows and seems to drop more and more every year.

Things are good.
..But you know what they say about all good things.

Bastion action figures, t-shirts, posters. Hell, there's even a movie deal in the works.
It's what happens when a hero becomes the posterchild for record-breaking peace in a once-dangerous city. Of course, it doesn't help that the biggest hero in Chicago is equal parts charismatic, brave, and adept with his powers.
(Force field powers always market well for toys and media promos.)

While the people generally eat it all up, there are select types with.. varying opinions. Aspiring heroes who want to be just like him. Older veterans who see him as a showboat, just a face for media agendas. Then there are the villains. There's a long list of people wanting Bastion's head on a plate. If only anyone could get it.

As it is, the guy guards the whole of Chicago with charm and a secret identity no one has been able to even guess at in years. Mysterious for the cameras, frustrating for those who would love nothing more than to dethrone the king of the city's calm streets. For the first few years, people assumed it would pass. Something would happen. Now, nearly seven years into things? Bastion is a household name, a common fixture.

Which is exactly why it's gonna hurt when he's gone.
The city is about to change. You decide in what way.

Hello everyone! I now have a shiny new laptop and can be an almost functioning member of society! Woo!
Anyways, I have poor internet connection for the next week so my posts will be rather sporadic, but I should be able to get on every other day or so.
