Hello! I thought it would be helpful to have a place for people to submit their queries in advance for the next Ask the Staff event. Feel free to post your questions here, questions answered will go in OP of the next event. For those of you who's questions did not get answered, you may post your question here.

Please be sure to follow the Rules and Guidelines posted below. These apply not only to this thread by all Ask the Staff events!

Ask the Staff Rules & Guidelines

1. One question per post.
   Please only ask one question in your post. Asking more than one question in your post may result in your post getting skipped for not following this.
   
   
2. Repeat posts will be deleted.
   Please only post your question once. Repeated posting of the same question multiple times on the same day may result in the additional posts being deleted or in your loss of being able to post to the thread. 3. Do not post support issues.
   Do not post issues regarding account bans, billing issues, warnings, and other support issues. Instead, please file a ticket about them at our Help Center. Questions about support issues may result in your post getting skipped.
   
   
4. Not all questions will be answered.
   There are a few reasons why a question might not be answered. Here are some of the most common reasons why that happens:
   There are questions that are asked that have been asked and answered previously and the answer given there hasn't changed, therefore we don't answer that.
   There are questions that we simply do not have an answer to at the moment.
   There are questions asked in a format other than the one that we recommend you post in.
   
   
5. The thread may get locked periodically.
   Should the thread posts grow faster than we can handle, we may temporarily lock the thread while we catch up. We will post if the lock is because of us catching up, or due to the event being over.

Features - Inventory

Lanzer and I were having a conversation the last time ATS ran, and I really wanted to finish it, since it wasn't resolved, and is extremely important to me.

I'm happy to hear you have thoughts on the shuffle issue, it's what I follow the most when you talk technically about what the constraints are! What does the 'reordering' exactly entail, even vaguely? That only dealt with the first part of my post.

The second part:
Like there's a Storage Box, could there be a 'Market box' - It's function would be to specifically sort anywhere from 100-600 items by current lowest price. You've stated multiple times it's large inventories that are the problem, but what if you only asked the system to sort a small selection of items at once? Then large inventories couldn't crash or make too many requests at once.

Question:
Is it possible to create a Donation Bin? Or a Lost And Found
One that’s different and better then Pete’s dump.
Perhaps it could be something like the person who wants the item types into a search category and if that item has been donated there, they could have it for free. (First come First Serve)
I can’t speak for everyone but I have thousands of unwanted items and it would be nice to just donate them to people who want that specific item. It would be better than having people come and use dumpster dive, just to end up with paper or
things they don’t want.

COVID19:

What precautions has Gaia done to ensure the safety of their staff members? Is the Gaia office in California closed for now and everyone is working from home? Do the staff members have enough health insurance to get tested properly if they get symptoms?

Have you guys considered a method of making older items available? Perhaps by adding another store that periodically cycles things in and out that people can buy with gold/plat/gaia cash? I know old rigs being made available havs done this to an extent but has something beyond that been done? Admittedly I've been out of the loop for a few years.

I've spent a fair bit of time in the CB over the years and one thing that's always stood out to me is the number of threads people make related to their search for specific items. Now, I realize Gaia's created thousands of items over the years and there's no way to cater to everyone, but with the gradual decline of the user base the pool of items available has shrunk as well. Searching through the market to see item after item with no listings or with inactive graphs is discouraging.

I'd like to thank the staff for addressing the questions on the granting system from last week. Voting in the Avatar arena now gives more then 1 platinum. However, it sill only gives between 8 to 26 platinum when before it would give roughly 150 to 200 platinum per vote, just like when you post in a thread. Is this intentional, or is the granting system still being worked on?

Is there any progress on fixing the password reset links ? Password reset emails still aren’t being sent to email addresses.

Recently it seems you guys added ads that circumvent general ad blockers as they seem to be directly in the site's coding. The community is outraged by this change with many threads in SF being angered as it affects their ability to enjoy the site. Can you explain why you felt the need to include this change? If it can't be removed due to contract or agreement between you and a third party can you also clarify that? And also while Angel Subs block these ads the 249+ GC spent option doesn't block it and I feel that it should. If you think 249gc is too low, raising it to something like 500 should be fine but it should also block those ads in my opinion.

Thank you for taking the time to read and respond. This issue is hitting home for a lot of people and while I understand we need to explore all financial options to keep the site afloat--this upsets a large part of the userbase and is something I think you guys need to reconsider.

Is there a reason you guys stopped doing the company updates since September? It really feels like you guys just don't care anymore.
