The horsemen galloped down the road, all were heavily cloaked and their mounts rode swiftly, their manes whipping in the cold night air as they tore down another road, the riders cloaks snapping and billowing with their speed.
Then, one of the men gave a shout. Pointing down the road.
Just turning into a village road was a strange creature, from a distance it looked to be a reptile of sorts, No ordinary lizard wore plated armor as this one did, glittering in the moonlight as it kicked up dust in it's haste.
Quickly, several of the men knocked arrows to the bows that they had already strung.
One rider that rode slightly further ahead than the others raised his own bow, but raised his other arm in the air, giving a signal as he steered his mount with his knees. No arrows were fired.
The cloaked figures dug their heels into horseflesh and the stallions picked up speed, closing in on the rushing figure before them. The lead rider waited until the creature was within range then swung his hand down in a cutting motion. Bows twanged as no less than a score of arrows arced toward the running figure.
Three of the first arrows pinged off of the armor, and the rest buried their heads in the dust as the creature jumped out of the way, speeding up in the process.
All of the riders put more arrows into the ground, trying to keep pace with their quarry. Then, the creature darted into a stand of tree's, vanishing into the shadows.
The lead horseman signaled them to stop, gazing into the darkness as the horses wheezed, foam flecking their sides. One of the other cloaked figures edged his horse closer to the leader,he was a freckle faced young man, looking all the more freckled because of the paleness of his skin. He leaned closer and whispered.
"Sir? Captain Quelo? Why can't we just feather the beast and be done with it? Why must we capture it?"
Quelo turned to the youth. He was a big man, and when he glared at the young man his black eyes burned with vigor. The boy shrank under his scrutiny.
"Are you really that daft, boy? Any sheah which comes into the lands of the king must be caught and interrogated. These beasts are extremely dangerous and cannot be allowed to roam free." He gazed into the dark, his arrow drawn. "Besides, king Argo thinks that a certain sheah has information regarding the resistance, so, we simply capture every one we find."
A rustling in the bushes stopped him short, and a growling black shape leaped out at the big man. Quelo had been waiting for just this moment, quicker than thought he loosed his arrow into the leaping form, burying it's head in it's right shoulder.
Not deterred in the least, the sheah bowled them both over the side of the frightened horse. More arrows were loosed at it as Quelo wrestled with the beast while attempting to draw his dagger, shouting hoarsely at his men.
((Again, too lazy to continue...-_-; ))
