These days, fear ran high. Everyone was on their wits’ end.. even if they didn’t admit it. The wizarding community always seemed to let itself get lead astray whenever the smallest rumor emerged. There were those who clung to it.. and those who denied everything.
But the dwellers of the famed wizarding school knew that something was coming. Despite the professors hardest efforts to keep their students occupied and oblivious, that was hardly possible.
Cordelia stayed hopeful.. that things would go back to normal. But nowadays, she’d be lying if she said she didn’t keep her wand up her sleeve when in the Forbidden Forest caring for her creatures.
The professor walked in Hogsmead with an air of calmness. Her robes flowing effortlessly behind her as the heels of her boots clicked on the stones that made the pathway. Basket in hand, she was doing her usual shopping and errands for that week. She could do it during the students Hogsmead visits, but in those instances she was usually preoccupied making sure the students behaved.
She was on her way to mail some letters to her family when she noticed a raven flying around the square, her eyes followed for a moment before continuing to walk to the Owl Post, until she notice that raven swoop over her, causing her hair to lift just a bit. She looked up, and then it happened again.
Cordelia smiled at the strange encounter. She put her basket down and ever so gently, using her hands to hold her robes and bending over to face the raven. “That was a good dance. I enjoyed it.” she whispered to it, not knowing that it in fact did understand her. She lingered for a moment before getting up again, picking up the sickle and turning it in her fingers.
“I hope to see you again friend..” she said with a small smile, before turning her heel and giving her letters to a nearby owl, dropping a few coins into the small can near it.
Cordelia walked back towards the path that lead to Hogwarts, her hand still holding the sickle the raven had given her. Perhaps it was hungry.. she had some good bird feed back at the castle.
