I just wrote this out of boredom. It may not mean much and I don't feel like reflecting on it yet. Maybe in the future. Maybe not. Here it is:
"Hey, do you ever wonder if we actually exist?"
"What?"
"I don't know. Like, haven't you ever questioned if anything is actually real?"
"I mean, no, not really."
"Like, never ever? In your entire life, not even once?"
"I don't know. Sounds like some existential crisis or something." A confused chuckle.
"Maybe it is. Maybe I'm a soul well beyond her age or-or-or maybe I'm reaching some revelation."
"Ooh, a revelation!" sarcastically.
"I'm only kidding. I don't really know anything."
"Yeah, you're right."
"Wow," in an offended tone, "you're supposed to defend me!"
"From your own words?"
"Especially my own words. Especially from myself."
A reassuring chuckle. "Sure, sure. I'll try my best."
"Do or do not; there is no try."
"Thanks, Yoda. You haven't even watched Star Wars. You're not allowed to make references to it."
"I totally have watched Star Wars! Sort of. One of them. You watched it with me, remember?"
"I remember. It's you with the deficient memory."
"Right, right. Hey."
"Hey?"
"Do you ever wonder if we actually exist?"
"What?"
"I don't know. Like, haven't you ever questioned if anything is actually real?"
"I mean, no--no. Wait, yes, I mean yes." A pause. "Everyday."
"Really, really, really?" Enthused.
"Sure, sure." A pleased hum.
Ah, but it was written as a phone call. No visuals or anything. Just voices. Just a normal call. Not sure if that changes anything.
