The surface water N O
Serpentinized ultramafic rocks were recovered from the northern (st. 30 L289, dredge sampling), southern (st. 30 L144 and 30 L290, dredge sampling) and western (st. 30 L148, TV-grab sampling, and 30 L186, dredge sampling) slopes of the seamount (Beltenev et al., 2007) (Fig. 1). The serpentinized ultramafic rocks at st. 30 L144 ANP 1-11 associated with moderately hydrothermally altered pillow basalts. Dolerites, which are considered to be dikes cutting both ultramafic and mafic rocks, were dredged at st. 30 L144, 30 L186, and 30 L289. St. 30 L289 also contains samples of metabasalts and plagiogranites. Plagiogranites form isometric clasts up to 30 × 30 × 26 cm, which carry abundant xenoliths of metabasalts of various sizes. Sporadic samples of gabbro were recovered in association with serpentinized ultramafic rocks at st. 30 L290. The eastern part of the seamount is effector rich in hydrothermally altered pillow basalts (st. 30 L145, 30 L153 and 30 L284). Fresh pillow basalts were collected at the seamount summit (st. 30 L295).
