Florida Group Purchasing Organization Succeeds in a Down Market
CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--At a time when the news headlines depict companies scaling back operations and laying off personnel, FMS Purchasing and Services Inc. is bucking the trend by continuing its expansion. FMS Purchasing and Services (www.fmspurchasing.com) is a group purchasing organization for businesses in the long-term care profession, hospitality, schools and churches; its headquarters are in Clearwater, Florida.

According to the company's president, Tim Gregson, FMS Purchasing has hired Dwight Back as Director of Marketing & Vendor Relations as part of that expansion. Back will be responsible for FMS' corporate marketing initiatives, including promotions which deliver added value (discounts) to its member clientele. He will also be the primary liaison with FMS' manufacturer/vendor partners, overseeing the development and strengthening of these business relationships. Back will report to FMS President Tim Gregson.

Gregson offered some insights about why his business remains strong. "By joining our purchasing organization, a nursing home, a hotel or any other organization that regularly buys consumable products can traditionally enjoy a significant economic impact thru their support of our approved program suppliers. In fact, during this past year alone, our program was directly responsible for the return of over $1.1 Million to our valued clientele. We aggregate the purchases of hundreds of smaller groups into a single, large buying entity. This gets us a much higher volume discount from the manufacturers and distributors. Back joins FMS Purchasing from Fidelity Investments in Covington, Kentucky where he was Senior Product Marketing Manager for transaction optimization and investment rollover automation products. During a total of 19 years at Fidelity Investments, Back held positions as Project Manager, Operations Manager, Customer Service Representative and Sales Representative. Fidelity Investments is a privately owned investment management company that provides IRAs, 401(k) rollovers, annuities, discount brokerage services, retirement services, estate planning, wealth management, securities execution and clearance, and life insurance services to its clients.

Back holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance from the University of Kentucky and an MBA in Finance & International Business from Southern Methodist University.

During his career at Fidelity and other companies, Back has been involved with numerous strategic projects that covered information technology (IT) implementations that resulted in substantial staff productivity increases, cost reductions and revenue generation. He also has organized new operations departments, participated in product evaluation teams, and implemented new training processes that resulted in improved call center efficiencies. Back has extensive experience managing document imaging projects, supply chain software implementations, and financial services products and/or services market introductions.
