The most parsimonious GLMM explaining the variation among nickel
2. Materials and methods
Sediments and tidal water were sampled (December 2011) in a fringe mangrove forest dominated by Rhizophora mangle, located in Itacuruçá, Sepetiba Bay, SE Brazil (22°55′19′′S, 43°53′09′′W). Detailed information on characteristics of this mangrove irak 4 inhibitor and on metal biogeochemistry within this ecosystem is available in previous studies ( Silva et al., 1990, Silva et al., 2003; Lacerda et al., 1991). Four short sediment cores (0–6 cm depth) were sampled by using Plexiglas tubes (4.4 cm i.d., 25 cm length). Tidal water was sampled at a creek that drains the forest, using a 25-L container. The cores were transported immediately to the laboratory, maintaining an overlying tidal water column of nearly 5 cm. The experimental setup ( Fig. 1) was similar to that employed by Petersen et al. (199 cool . There was no sieving or homogenization of sediments, preserving the natural sediment structure.
