Bailey's Journal Um, I guess a more personal record of my day to day jobs.

So yeah, I guess this'll be a thing I can vent to now in a non-professional report way. And jeez do I have something to start with-

Today, I was called in to take care of a vegetation problem in a city not too far from where I live. Sounds simple, right? But I'm not known for my gardening skills-this was a problem on a more dangerous scale, so of course I brought Lilith along. As I've said before on my profile, she's kind of my body guard/servant.

When we got there, you could barely tell it was supposed to be a city. Every building was wrapped up in vines and the streets looked like a massive snake pit (not a very good description, but hey I'm not a poet). The vines were already creeping their way beyond the cities limits. Clearly they'd thought they could handle it on their own and waited too long to call on a professional. Or maybe they just grew too fast and big for anyone to really do anything about it. I didn't see anyone the whole time I was there, so I guess the area was mostly abandoned. I hope so anyway, for their own safety.

Where did we start? Underground of course. We had to find the roots, or heart (sometimes it's not only plant-based stuff involved in these cases), or whatever it was perpetuating this things growth. First, we had to find the source, which took a few musty, dark, clumsily-tripping-over-plants hours. Even with my spell-enhanced trifocal goggles on, there was no solid ground to stand on so it took a while. Lilith tried cutting a path with the blades that slide out of her arms, but after the entire tangled messy swath of vines attacked us, we decided to just hoof it the hard way. I have a bunch of welts and rope burns as I write : P

It turned out to be some semi-human shaped beings in the middle of the whole mess. It looked like they'd run afoul of some cast off spell in the sewers and simply grew out of control. Removing the magic took another few frustrating hours as it's complicated and I try to do stuff like this without hurting the afflicted being. They're just as important as humans, even if others might not take so much care. Since I'm a regular, unendowed human, this took a lot of magical know-how and power that I couldn't generate myself. I had to send Lilith back to Reinhart Gardens (where I live in a mansion full of magic junk) to get more tools. She didn't like having to leave me there alone, but once I gave her the Order, she left grumbling the whole way. To extrapolate, Lilith can't refuse a direct order from me. She's been bound to my family for a few generations because one of my however many greats grandpa decided having a somewhat powerful supernatural being as a slave was a good idea. I don't like to think about what he may have been thinking when he collared a succubus :"/

Eventually, I managed to remove the spell. The plant beings sorta woke up and began to shed the excess vines. And then as thanks, they gave me a baby. Yeah. I have a plant baby now. So I left the city still covered in vines (clean up is not my job. I suspect my aunt will have something to do with it later) and did another few hours worth of searching and research in my inherited library. Luckily, it didn't take me too long to find the right book on these particular guys.

As per instruction, I buried him about waist deep in a pot of rich soil and fed him some fertilizer (ew). He's actually pretty cute. He looks like an infant human, but there's no way you could mistake him for one (unless you thought he was afflicted with some horrid disease I guess). He has little greenish brown root/vine things sticking out of his legs, a small ring of them sticking out of his chest, and a bunch of them sticking straight up from the back of his head like hair. Which is weird because he has actual brown hair in front of his head vines too.

According to the book, A Thousand Ways to Care For Your Supernatural Plants, once he grows up he'll be a house guardian. When he gets bigger, I'll replant him outside. I get some interesting gifts.....

Anyway, definitely time for a shower and bed. Goodnight (or good morning).
