In this world, the only thing that can be seen is the moon in the sky and the individuals within the world. Everything else is dark and it seems as if nothing is there. Not even the light from the moon is bright enough to reveal anything within the world.

Zanpakuto Sealed Appearance:
[Zankpakutou] The Zanpakutou has a black sheath and hilt. The guard is simple and average. Pretty much a basic katana.

Shikai
Release Command:
"Shake the Heavens, Siakyou"

Shikai Release Appearance:
[Appearance] Tensei's whole body turns dark with yellow markings. His clothing fades on both sides of his body, leaving a red cloth for his lower clothing and sliver plating on his forearms and lower legs (up to his knees).

Shikai Appearance:
[Zanpakutou] Aside from the black theme, his blade changes almost completely. Until it reaches the end, the blade remains straight, although a jagged pattern appears at the beginning and end. The guard becomes what could only be comparable to the appearance of death. While the blade does not grow any, the hilt does, as well as changing in pattern.
Although not noticeable until used, from the yellow markings throughout his body, a chain-like weapon can be exerted from his body. The links of the chain are individual blades, each as sharp as the one before it. Its length is unlimited. If any are separated, although hard to do in the first place, they can simply reform with ease, making it technically indestructible. Tensei can control this weapon as if it were his own arm.

Shikai Ability:
Tensei's speed and strength are increased in general and his body becomes 55% more resistant to damage.
The chain weapon doesn't have any special abilities, besides self-regeneration. It can only extend to 500 feet in shikai.
His blade, however, does; although impossible to tell, it causes everyone in a 300 feet diameter around him, aside from himself, to have a lack in perception. This causes all five of their senses to perceive a second later than normal. If Tensei wants, he can remove this ability, although it'd occur for everyone, so he can't use it on a select person.
(Each chain link is three inches in length, meaning at most, he has 2000 individual blades at his disposal).

Bankai Release Appearance:
[Appearance] Much like shikai, Tensei's body is changed to darkness, except it is half of his body this time, the left side. Yellow markings form there as well. He obtains another chain-like weapon, making that two at his disposal, each being able to extend 1500 feet.
(They're still three inches in length, leaving him now with 12,000 individual blades)

Bankai Appearance:
[Zanpakutou] His zanpakutou goes from a blade to an animal-like creature, having a mind of its own while being connected to Tensei.

Bankai Ability:
All former abilities and reiatsu are sacrificed for agility/speed, strength, stamina, and defense, granting him a whole new level of physicality, unmatched by possibly anyone.
The only thing that remains is the enhanced defense part. Rather than increasing his entire body's endurance by 55%, the entire left side of his body is now invulnerable to damage, although while sacrificing everything else for increase in physical prowess, the vulnerable side of his body still can't be harmed by measly attacks.
While not really an ability, his zanpakutou is now connected to Tensei. All senses are inter-connected, essentially providing Tensei with an extra pair of eyes and ears.
While his zanpakutou isn't as fast and strong as Tensei, it's still likely to exceed most. It's biggest feature is its stamina and its defense, and compared to Tensei, its intelligence isn't that bad either.

This is Tensei's variation of locating people while in combat and in general. Not only is he capable of following Reiatsu precisely, but this also seems to allow him to follow literal movements, granting him the ability to know exactly what someone is doing without even looking at them. This ability is selective. He can focus on a single person or object, which increases efficiency and range, or just a general location, which decreases it. The range, in general, is basically an effective battle range. As long as the person or object is not too fat away to fight, it's within range.

Tensei is your average Eleventh Division Shinigami, perhaps even taking it a step further. This means he obviously loves to fight, can't get enough of it. Injuries do not show inferiority, they show courage. In general, if a fight is going on, he can't help but join in, unless there's a damn good reason; however, at the sight of blood, he seems to lose all control. He rushes in and fights anyone in his way, friend or foe, normally until someone dies or he is unable to fight.
The scary thing is, to himself at least, is his "hobby" of evening a fight if he has the upper hand. Perhaps this is his way of showing honor. This could include injuring himself, anywhere from a minor wound to breaking his arm. Rarely, however, will this cause him to fight at a willingly lower aptitude. If he can't fight his hardest without having fun, there's no point, which, along with his near inability to avoid fights, leads to this bizarre...hobby.

When drunk, which is hard for him to accomplish, his personality takes on a whole new persona. He still remains calm, and he even has the ability to hold back his blood-lust. He obtains the inability to pay attention to any one thing for too long, at least of anything importance, often ending with him getting lost in meaningless things, such as Madoka's odd appearance and whether or not she's even human.

Outside of his drunken state, he's normally calm, aside from the whole inability to hold back his will to fight. He tends to take pride in his duty as a Captain, although not always enthusiastic about it.

- - - Biography - - -
Tensei grew up in Rukongai for a long time. He mainly worked in the markets, selling goods. He was known to be unreasonably harsh to people who tried stealing from him. He didn't start working with any sort of weapon until an unfortunate events. He had one friend in all of Rukongai. One day, he caught word that his friend was being harassed in a nearby alley. He'd quickly rush over to see his friend being attacked by five individuals, nothing to serious, just an average beating. Obviously, Tensei was upset over this and told them to stop. The group ignored him, so he grabbed the closest object to him and threw it at the closest guy. By this time, his friend was unconscious due to the beating, although he only had internal damage, no cuts, no blood whatsoever. After that, the group worked their way to Tensei. He put up a fight for a few seconds, but was ultimately ineffective. They grabbed his arms so he couldn't move and forced Tensei to watch as they killed his friend, slitting his throat. That was their mistake.
As soon as Tensei noticed the blood coming from his friend, a burst of previously dormant reiatsu erupted, surrounding his entire body. He threw the two holding him off with ease and took care of the rest in a matter of only a few seconds, knocking them unconscious, same as they had previously done to his friend. He began walking away but after only a few steps, his body started shaking uncontrollably. Literally against his will, he began kicking each of the five people until they were clearly dead. The only thing really left was a pool of blood and Tensei's friend. The five people's bodies looked horrible, they were beaten to the point of being unrecognizable. All of their bones were not just broken, but smashed, resulting in a clump of mass that would be indescribable. If one didn't know they were people, it would be impossible to tell.
Despite not being able to control himself, he still retained all memory of the incident. From that day, he decided to quit his work as a merchant and, instead, worked on hand-to-hand combat and swordsmanship. Soul Society became aware of the incident, and rather than reprimanding him, they decided to recruit him, although a close supervision had to be placed on him. The only thing that could really stop him was a strong Kidou that restrained him. It was decided that he couldn't safely train in the academy, so they decided to place him in the Fifth Division, as they could control him using their Kidou. When it was recognized that Tensei had no talent with Kidou, however, and that he was excellent at close-range combat, they decided to put him in the care of the Eleventh Division. Apparently they assumed their strong will and love to fight would be able to stop Tensei if necessary.
After some short time, he progressed through the ranks and eventually became the Captain after a devastating Espada attack killed both the Captain and Lieutenant.
