The Ramblings of a Woman
I will talk about whatever I want. Which may or may not include a long list of books, comics, myths, historical happenings, current happenings, and my own philosophical ramblings.
"...measure yourself...by what you should have accomplished with your ability." ~John Wooden

heart This is another quote that I have no idea where or when it came from. This time I don't even know who the say-er of the quote is. (Seriously, I've got no clue who the dude is. sweatdrop ) But I do think this is an important quote. Think about it. You are a unique and completely original living being and so is everyone else on this planet. To judge yourself by comparing yourself to your neighbor would be like comparing a Palm Tree to a Strawberry bush. You have your own environment and your own hardships. Even two Palm trees are not completely comparable. Example, one may be planted in good sunlight with terrible soil and the other may be planted in no sunlight with fabulous soil.
heart When you use another person's standards, you almost always end up holding yourself to standards that are either to high or too low for your self. Say you are of average talent in art and you hold yourself to the same accomplishments as your "Master of the Stick Figure" friend, you'll look like Da Vinci! Meanwhile, if you are okay in math and he or she is a freaking Einstein, in comparison you'll end up looking like you need the world's best tutor even if you were doing your best(Say, a B+.).
heart We all just need to learn to measure ourselves by the our own greatest possible ability and then, and only then, make the final call on how we did. Instead of doing our absolute best and then proceeding to see where we fall in between the world's worst and best, we must see where we fall between on our own worst and best abilities.
