DETAILED PERSONALITY
  • Tau hates everyone. Seriously. The yautja for sinking to the level they have, the humans for allying with the predators, the hybrids for choosing to become abominations, and the half breeds because ... well, they're still abominations, whether they chose it or not.
  • She was raised by a matriach and 'fathered' by an elder. She knows how things are supposed to be. That acceptance into the society was given and taken so freely disgusts her almost as much as her own does.
  • Because of this, she considers herself superior to everyone else. Maybe if the yautja weren't such a watered down version of their former selves, it would be different.
  • Physical confrontations are common place wherever Tau is. It could be over an imagined insult, an actual insult, something she wants, or hell -- she could just be in a foul mood. She takes on everyone -- she knows that even if she can't win, she'll at least draw, and power is the only thing they respect.
  • She never loses, sometimes she just doesn't win ... in the beginning.
  • Any problem that can't be solved with her fists isn't worth solving.
  • She is aware she will never have power, but god ******** damn it, she will teach them to leave her the ******** alone.
  • Tau refuses to hunt with the clan. Hunting is to gain honor, and as far as she's concerned, their concept of it is so flawed she doesn't want to touch it with a ten foot pole. She out right refuses to have their backs, or to trust them to have hers.
  • She makes no secret of the fact that she is very, very bitter about the fact they took away her honorable death. She would have been quite content to die after defeating Kou'dehn, but they brought her back, and now she's stuck. She doesn't want to die, but it is the better alternative to being stuck in hell.
  • Disrespectful unless she wants something. No one is fooled. Eventually her own clan gets so tired of her refusal to cooperate and refusal to play nice, they give her away.
  • If she wants something, she takes it. If need be, she'll beat the ******** out of someone to have it. But she will not go through their proper channels of earning it fairly and officially.
  • Obviously, Tau is confident in her abilities. At least, this is the front she shows to everyone. She is very, very skilled with the wrist blade and even the combi-stick, but past that, she struggles. She is ashamed that she is not as talented with all the weapons as she should be, but instead plays on the assumption that her refusal to use them is related to the fact she 'wants to die.'
  • She does however have some vague lingering sense of honor. This means that eventually, she feels guilty enough to go on one hunt with the clan she gets palmed off onto. Cue Ambient.
  • Though she'd never admit it, Tau feels more than a little out of place in the new society. She doesn't know where she belongs, and instead of trying to figure it out, she just rages at everyone and blames them.
  • Despite her rebellion, she will never be a leader. She's not comfortable giving orders or being in charge. She is much calmer when she has someone to obey -- so long as they're worth listening to. This doesn't mean she's submissive, just that she's not an alpha.
  • Tau is, aside from aggressive and disrespectful, petty and very spiteful. Small injustices are held onto for months, and revenge is forever swift and excessive.
  • She has a very short attention span. If she's not getting into scraps or brooding, she's asleep. Or destroying things. Or painting on the walls.
  • The way Tau sees it, she has nothing to lose. She has no regards for consequences to her actions, because what's the worst they're going to do to her ? Not much. Rules are meant to be broken, anyway.
  • Anything that will piss the yautja off, she'll do. It doesn't matter if she wants to do it, so long as they don't want her to.
  • Though she tries to hide it, some remnants of child-like playfulness linger somewhere. Deep deep deep down.
  • PDA's are gross. Always. Forever. Even in private, affection is shown more through not making a snarky comment, than it is through saying something nice.
  • Showing weakness is something that can never be forgiven. She will eventually stop hating herself, but she will always resent whoever saw it.
  • Though she works hard to portray herself as being nothing more than bitter and ignorant, Tau is perfectly capable of being observant and intelligent. There just isn't any reason, in her mind, to show this side of herself to those she despises.
  • It is worth noting that after spending some time with her usual team, Tau mellows. While she is still bitter and angry, she's more relaxed and less likely to take her rage out on them. On hunts, she's more likely to hunt with them, instead of near them -- even if her idea of doing so is to use CB as a diversion by punting him into a pile of xenos.

    RELATIONSHIPS.
  • Ambient is, first and foremost, Tau's team leader. She listens to him, just because he won't tolerate any less. The one time she refused to do what he wanted, he flipped her over his shoulder and took her with him anyway. The humiliation was enough to change her mind about how to approach him, and he never tried to prove a point that way again.
He saved her on the hunt, and she has never forgotten that.
He makes a point of bringing out her playful, less serious side. It's pretty hit and miss, but it works now and again.
They are obviously lovers, though it takes many years, hundreds of hunts, countless arguments, him (not really) dying, and the destruction of everything she has ever known before she allows anything physical to officially happen.

  • CB and Tau have an iffy relationship. Because he is a bad blood, she hates him and regularly tries to kill him -- seriously. She never succeeds, and because Ambient cares for her, CB never retaliates.
Over time, she comes to trust him, her attacks get a little less serious, and seeks comfort from him when she needs it. Though she never forgives what got him exiled in the first place, and never understands it, she doesn't hate him for it anymore either.
There are rumors that she never recovers from his death.

  • The cleaners and Tau have a beautiful relationship. She respects them for being what she remembers the yautja to be, and they try to break her will, spirit and self respect -- after all, she's a ******** abomination.
They hunt well together, however. None of them really have her back -- she's on her own -- but that's fine. She can handle herself, and even they can't deny that.
She never really earns their respect, but they do come not to hate her completely.

  • Kou'dehn hates Tau with an unholy passion. He hates her enough to break away from his hunt and try to slaughter her. After all, she's just a human, and she was the one his father was proud of. She is a piece of scum that needs to be wiped from the face of the earth.
Tau doesn't really care either way. The last thing she wanted to do before she died was beat the s**t out of him, and she did, thus proving he was an immature, useless child. Her job is done.

  • Rau'tehn was the elder who took Tau as a trophy when she was a child, and therefore who she considers to be her father.
He never tells her the details of her origin, and that's fine. Instead he treats her like something to be treasured -- teaching her etiquette, telling her stories, spending his time taking care of her and teaching her how to make small gifts. It baffles her as she grows up, since she is aware of what the yautja think of humans, and she eventually decides he saw her as a sort of pet to be trained. Despite this, she does love him in some manner.
She is sad when he dies, and the lessons he taught her remain with her as she grows up. She bases her entire set of of motivations, goals, and expectations on what he told her as a child.

  • Rea'yue was Tau's 'mother.' She accepted Tau as a trophy from Rau'tehn while he was 'courting' her, just because she saw it as a way to rebel against her own mother, who was matriach at the time.

  • The yautja and Tau just don't get along. As stated previously, she seems them as weak and inferior now. When she was growing up they were strong -- a force to be feared and reckoned with. They were enthralling and dangerous and scary.
Now all she sees is insignificant little bugs who have forgotten everything they were.
It depends on the individual how they see her. Once her and Ambient become close they all take notice, but half of them only care in the sense it's something to talk about. The other half see her as a threat, since she is so blatantly derogatory.
All of them are willing to fight her, and do so regularly, though they never initiate it.

  • For the most part, the humans feel sort of bad for Tau. They are far more likely to gossip than the yautja, so they knew pretty much as soon as she steps on the ship how she got there and what Kou'dehn did.
The motherly ones are especially irritating. No matter how many times she tells them to piss off, they constantly try to involve her in "human traditions" and make her feel at home. They never really understand that she doesn't see herself as human, because she was never raised by a human family.

  • The hybrids and Tau just don't talk.

  • The half breeds tend to take Tau's rage very personally. While they are happy and content in their world, her snide remarks and attacks cause them great distress.
    They are horrifically sheltered.
