A Heavy Hearted Work Of Staggering Genius
Tidbits desu.
The Kameleon ♥
The Kameleon is the airship Ko and Kei share. It acts as a home to the pair, despite them owning an apartment in the heart of Dref Dur.

The Kameleon

The otherwise unremarkable Kameleon has one amazing feature - a chameleon circuit. It is said that the Casimir tree of each airship is influenced by the person who raises it, and in turn influences the airship itself, and this seems very likely in this case; the main talent Ko and Kei exhibit is one for disguise, and the Kameleon can change its likeness to suit the situation.

At its standard setting, the chameleon circuit changes the colour of the exterior of the Kameleon to match its surroundings. In a forest, its colour would likely be a pattern of mottled dark greens. In a clear sky, it would simply be blue, and whenever it is parked out the back of Smoke and Mirrors, it is a combination of greys and browns - typical dirty city colours - with the red brick that characterises that particular alleyway.

At more advanced settings, which appear to activate when the Casimir tree senses danger to itself and its ship, the material of the ship itself can also morph, providing a more in-depth disguise. For instance, if the ship has landed amongst rocks and is hiding from an enemy from above, the exterior is likely to change into a thin layer of rock, with the Casimir tree blending with the surrounding flora. In this way, the Kameleon often attaches itself to various fleets without being immediately noticed.

The chameleon circuit only works when the ship's engine is running. One theory is that the vibrations of the engine cause the pollen from the 'flowers' of the Casimir tree to fly into the air. These particles spread over the ship and affect a circumference of some distance around each individual spore and within a certain distance of the Casimir tree, causing the appearance to morph. After so many years of the Casimir tree growing aboard the Kameleon, the spores are probably ingrained into the very ship, so they perhaps need movement to activate the disguise mechanism. For this reason, the ship is very rarely switched off completely, although it is unknown what Ko and Kei use to fuel the ship so constantly. Sarcasm, perhaps.
