October blues...

It’s official, the fine line between coincides and fate is broken. 2 deaths in October, how fitting. I only hope that they were painless. I best way to go for a person is sudden and without pain I say.

That was the case for a family friend, may God rest his soul. His family is not taking it so well, he never even reached 60, but bad genes in the heart run thru, and so his time was up. A Filipino diet of salt and fat probably didn’t help, that’s why I don’t eat it that often. Fast deaths are easy for the person, but never the family, its all too sudden.

As for the other death, well she isn’t quite dead yet, but cancer is a deathnell at 70+, 2 years with it, just let her go God and peacefully too, she has had enough. I almost broke down when I saw my dear Aunt. She was always good to me, the good always seem to have the most suffering and pain in life. That’s is not fair! I could hardly recognize her, only last month I saw her she could walk and talk, now she can’t do either! My family is all in acceptance, this is it. And it sucks. I tell you, take care of yourself, once you get sick at old age, that’s it!

This month I was supposed to write about the history of Halloween, but death is the topic, its the underlying culture of that great holiday. I love this month regardless, but it not the same this year, not the same spirit. October is my month to celebrate my dead and have fun. But this year Death was at the door and it was only half-way merciful.

You see death I some religions is solemn and bleak. No so for other factions, you see on the Halloween or Samhain or Day of the Dead or All Souls Day, what ever you call it, its all the same day and I know its history because I love it so much. We are supposed to honor our dearly beloved, for Latinos we hold a small candle (or lantern) light “party” at the grave and remember the good times. Filipinos do the same thing, kinda, we are sad, but happy to remember them at their best. I celebrate at funerals, because they would not want us to be sad, (unless a drama queen/king died). My other half the Italians mourn a lot, but we celebrate with food, and lot of it and laugh, cry, etc. I just am happy that they don’t have to suffer anymore, what else could I ask for?

We live, we die, it’s a fact, I don’t like it so much, but I can’t ignore it. To do so would be a foolhardy. So it gets me wondering. What do I do with my life?

Next month’s topic: STEAMPUNK…… BISHES! I LOVE STEAMPUNK!
Just wanted to say that.
