if dogs could talk #8 (Sorry guys and girls, I got mixed up)
Two months have passed since I was taken in by master Draken. When I first started in those chalenges the humans have prepared for us, I thought it inmoral, crule, and evil; but now I see! Now I know, now I understand! It’s not crule. The humans have us fight because it is for our honor! That must be it! I still don’t know what use that green paper they call “money” has to do with it however. I must be the most honorable dog there is then, I killed all my compotition at this point, and I don’t see an end in sight, which is good for me. As long as I am a good dog for master, and do very little thing he says, I will get love and treats. I do feel bad for the dogs that had to die fo rmy honor, but my sympathy Is limited. Their masters demanded they fight me, they have no choice, even if they beged to get out, they had to fight. THAT is where my sympathy lies, but in doesn’t go any farther.
Today I fight a new dog. He goes by the named Der Teufel*(1). He’s aGerman shepord, about five years old and has apearently won more compotitions than I have. His master goes by the name, Bleda Oasch*(2), form some place called germany, I think. Master is woried about that green paper he gets for every time I win, saying he wont get any. Dose he mean I wont in? Dose he care more fo rthe green paper then me? No…No master cares more fo rme. That’s why he has me fight. That’s why he gets me treats when I win… yes that makes sence. That must be it.
Nickie, the one with the B-I-T-C-H tatoo, seems… upset almost. One night I heard her screaming at master Draken, saying, “He doesn’t stand a chanse against that dog! Why are we doing this!? Thi is down right crule! It’s in humane!” I was out side the bedroom they where in, listening in on what they where saying. “You want to know whats crule, listening to you’re whining about the same thing over and over again!” I was watching through a crack in the door as Nickie slaped master across the face so hared he fell to the floor. “You little-…” I burst into the room, barking like a mad man, “Don’t hurt Master Draken!” I snaped at her, not to hurt, but to get her to stop. She yelped in a moments worth of pain and lept back. “Gruff! Down! Now!” master demanded. He looked at me with an almost evil smile, which I had learned ment he was pleased. “You see! He wants to fight! He’s ready!” At this, Nickie raised an arm, ready to strike master again. I growled, telling her that if she did, I would not hold back this time. She did not understan, but she got the picture either way.
Nickie stormed out the room, hands covering her face to hide her tears. I went to master and licked his hand, attempting to make the pain from the slap go away. He looked at me, smiled his smile, and said. “Good boy, Gruff. You’re going to win this, or die, there’s no middle ground this time. Choose now.” I barked my aproovel and panted happely. Master walked out, happy now. As I walked out, I could hear the sobs of Nickie, coming form the human’s bathroom. I peeked my head in, to find her sitting on the ground crying. She looked up at the sound of my paws on the tile. “Come to mal me to death now?!” She said in between sobs. I hung my head in apology to her. I walked slowly to her, licking her face, it smelt and tasted of cigerets and tears. She started to laugh and cry, her tears hitting my nose. “You remind me of a dog I used to have. Called him Pooh Bare. He was killed when I was walking him. A rabid dog came by and killd him. He died in surgery in pain and suffering. That’s why I don’t want you to fight. I never DID want you to. That basterd , Draken turned yo uinto a monster…” she said , trailing off into thought. I didn’t know what a “basterd” was, but I didn’t like the sound of it. I hrowled my disagrement, and left. She suddenly burst out, “Please be careful!” I nodded my head and walked on, awaiting the fight tomorrow.
