Hold this to my heart
keep me close to what I fear
show me what is wrong
with this picture
reflected in the vanity,
a half-painted face looking back
at the person everyone thinks they see.
Holding a beating heart in open hands
waiting to hand it to this harlequin
a stranger letting pulsating blood
drip through pale fingers
until the life fades, and then exists no more.
Standing in a white abyss
so calms that chaos reigns
Emptiness holds its own castrophany,
roiling and writhing
absolute stillness.
Hand on heart
poison beating veins,
snarling rising
through naked fangs
beneath my trembling lips.
Decimate my own flesh
take my blood
because my skin is stripped away
when it cannot be removed.
Dialated eyes behold this deepest irrationality.
Shame
is all that remains.
