Story of Anir
Deserted Temple of Anir
Once Phrigustus had left Anir's life, people stopped noticing and paying homage to this Goddess, they blamed her for the fierce storms that shut them in and ruined them...and so her temple stands on Mt.Frize in the mountains of Gaia to this day, snowed over and deserted...

The compound is on the very summit of Mt.Frize, and a steep treacherous climb awaits those who wish to scale the frozen walls and brave the jagged boulders. The wind howls and buffets those who attempt to fly, and it threatens to tear away the desperate fingers of any climber. Small isolated avalanches aren't technically uncommon, and caves are found dotted all along this mountain. The geography isn't the only danger that waits for the adventurers who wish to go up, but wild white wolves and giant Pora Ice bears loom, camouflaged, for a meal.

If the adventurer happens to circumvent all the danger, he would find thick heavy walls extending ten feet high, of pure marble like ice surrounding the temple on all sides. The scales are smooth, impossible to scale, and statues of fearsome creatures sit atop the walls. It ranged from beasts with mouths wide open and others which simply glared down at you, all frozen in stony silence.

But oh! What luck! The gates of pure ice are thrown wide open and it shows the lay out of the whole entire complex. Straight forward lays a bubbling fountain of the purest of waters, a statue of a female rises from it but it is indecipherable from the distance at which you are at. The ground itself is pure crystal, and it sections off into little pathways. Beyond the fountain is the main complex, a looming temple with arcs and Roman columns supporting it. It extends wide enough to nearly cover the whole summit. Glancing to the left, you will see the quarters of living for those who had served the goddess. It is long, and narrow but elaborate and rising two stories. If your gaze lingers to the right, you will see thick heavy walls and a iron gate sealed.

You walk forward towards the main complex, the air is well below freezing and you do not know how long you can handle the chill. Passing the fountain, she are tempted to dip your hand in to see how such water could flow in such temperatures. But you decide not too, for a warning encrypts the edge of the circular fountain.
"Touch the tears of Winter, and Lo! Shall you feel the tears of Winter!"

Withdrawing your hand, you turn your gaze to the statue, frozen beauty. It is of a woman dressed in elegant cloth, one foot in the water, the other in the air as if she were descending from the heavens. It is hard to see her face, for snow has covered it so you move on to go to the main temple.

The first thing you notice as you approach are the columns that support it, the columns have etchings of battle scenes and other cryptic words you can never understand. Miraculously, the large doors are open but two stone wolves stand guard at either side....

Nervously, inside it is mostly empty except for a huge statue laying at the farthest end of the room. Vaulted windows throw in eerie blue light, and not a trace of snow is in here. It feels like it could not get any colder. In the middle of the room, the Pantheon Rose is etched in and finally you approach the large statue. Your breath catches, your eyes widen, for the beauty of the Goddess strikes into your heart. "Anir" it says etched across the bottom at her feet, she is dressed in a flowing skirt and a bodice. Gloves adorn her upper arms, and she positions herself to look pitying and regal. One hand touches her lip and the other is extended, grasping a fearsome looking staff. It is all marble of course, and embedded sapphires, but it all looked so real.

Behind her is the giant vaulted window with the petal of Phrigustus and below it, branching out into more petals. The center petal has a runic shape that matches the one etched into Anir's palm. As you look around, you see each window shows scenes from Anir's story..beginning with happiness and ending with superiority of a Goddess.

If you moved to the left instead of heading towards the main complex, you find the living quarters of the priests and priestesses that once served Anir. It also had a small library sectioned off to the side as well. Entering, you see long hallways and airy living quarters. Everything looks as if the people had rushed out and never returned. Everything is coated in frost. The beds look plush and the floor has rugs of pora ice bear fur. As you go along, you see a room filled with fierce weapons used in the temple's defense. A kitchen stand empty at the far side, even the table had plates with forks still upon them. Finally you reach the library, where thousands upon thousands of scrolls lay every which way and small stone tables lay in an organized fashion. There isn't much to see afterwards, but you can't shake the eerie feeling as if something must have been wrong to have the place so deserted.

If you moved to the right, you would encounter an entire section closed off with thick heavy iron gates sealing outsiders away. You try to open the gates but you jump back, the gates had grown thick icicles that slowly receded back from your touch. You read the lettering at the arch,

"Caution stranger, let no mortal go.
For this is the Gate of the Goddess of the Snow,
Where gods descend from the Heavens true,
And this why we not allow you,
To Step into the Gate of the Gods,
Where mortal world meets immortal comings and goings."

You can see through th heavy bars, a garden of crystal flowers and a large stone disc in the center of it. Worrying for yourself, you leave.

As you take your treacherous path back down to the warm and sunny Gaian world, you can't help but feel eyes upon you. Glancing around, you see no one in sight but the feeling continues to follow you as you take your path down.

Those eyes might be Anir's, to see if her worshipers have come back, or curious ones, to see what some adventurer would want at her deserted temple. Or maybe it is nothing, just the cold stone eyes of Anir's statue still etched into your memory.

This is beautifully poetic. I feel as if I was there, and that such a place truly exists on earth. This is astounding! Great job!
