Name: Kiwi (meaning Flightless Bird)
Nicknames: Chickenwings (by Tybalt)
Gender: Male
Age: A few hundred pony years, but he now appears roughly 19-20??
Original Clan: Famine
Job Role: Colony Soldier - Colony Soldiers are groups of Clans members versed in the fighting arts, namely to protect and keep order in their colony. They are often seen with the Heirs and Queen, though they also have special roles in the Human World fending off potential hostile opponents as well as their own territories in Halloween from potential invaders.
Personality:
.:Nomenclature:. His name, while it might seem odd, is derived from a bird known as the Kiwi, who in legend gave up it's ability to fly in order to become strong and protect the creatures of the earth. Kiwi means 'flightless bird' and his parents - having considered it a fitting name at birth, given his beautiful but decaying, all-but-useless wings - honored him with the title. He however despised the name, and was often the brunt of many jokes in his youth because of it. But as he grew older, Kiwi began to realize more and more the positive traits of the bird of legend. Instead of shame, he embraced those traits, and began to work hard for the betterment of his clan. He now feels very comfortable with it, more-so with the destruction of his clan, and is determined to work very hard to rebuild Famine to it's former glory. He considers the legendary Kiwi itself a guardian spirit of sorts, a totem of birthright always watching over him, helping him in his struggle to succeed.
.:Love of Life:. Kiwi is very loyal to his people and the clan. He loves Famine life, and being somewhat of a protective, brotherly figure would do anything within his power to ensure the clan's safety. While normally fairly rational and reasoning, Kiwi's love of battle can sometimes lead him to be impulsive and reckless, launching himself into the battlefield without a second thought. He is tough though, and can pull his own weight within the clan.
He is also quite cautious of any outsiders, and if confronted, will often take to the sand/brush/treetops nearby, observing them with watchful, doubting eyes until he is certain they are no threat to himself or his clan. If he does perceive a threat, the horseman will not hesitate to launch head-on against his "foes", regardless of the situation. One could consider him somewhat dedicated and paranoid even that way. At least he means well.
.:Brothers in Arms:. While some would see the colony soldier life as a base existence, a mere pawn on the Famine pyramid of hierarchy, Kiwi purely loves his job. He recognizes the value of protecting his clansmen from harm, and thoroughly enjoys the adrenaline-fueled danger and challenge of battle. He fights bare-fisted with a certain speed and precision, often twisting in the air to utilize every limb of his body in taking down his opponent, reserving his weapon only for times of great need.
Physical Description:
Eye Colour: A pale, sandy golden-brown. They can appear more golden or pale depending on how the light reflects from them.
Hair Colour/Style: Brown, often tied back and adorned with various bones, twigs, and feathers.
Skin Colour: A light tan, closer to pale. There are reddish-brown tattoo-like markings all across his body.
Clothing Style/Colours: Plain browns and pales, usually only the bare necessities in terms of clothing, favoring a multitude of bangles, necklaces, and jewelry in general, often in gold. (He will make some Death Clan Jewelcrafters very happy 8D)
Extra: He loves the shine of gold, and is currently adorned in it, along with some bone and leather jewelry. He sports piercings through his ears, and one through his right nostril.
His wings, while quite beautiful, are really useless in terms of flight due to their amount of decay. The most he manages with them is a few spare feet of upward thrust while moving. Regardless, he does cherish them and often adorns their bare surface with various small gems and chains as his FEAR has grown, have been refeathered to the point of being flyable again, if still decayed.

.:Views on the Loss of his Clan:. The day he saw the Four Clans go up in a brilliant explosion of FEAR and Insanity, Kiwi could only stare with a numb sense of shock. It was as though, in those few moments, time had almost stopped. The world grinding to a near-dead lurch, frozen still as the aura grew brighter and larger. He could almost hear the screams of a whole colony of Famine horsemen crying in agony, mingled among the many voices of the other clans ... His mind kept telling him no. No. NO. It wasn't real, it couldn't be real ... it-
But it was. Slowly, time had began to pick up again, there were humans firing their weapons and shouting cheers, students agape as horsemen all around him stared, silent tears pouring from their eyes, a few cries echoing onto the air as the explosion peaked and died away ...
His parents ... the ones he relied on most, the ones who supported him, who loved him ... gone. All the colonists he shared his home with ... wiped away. The isle of Famine, and all it's culture and beauty ... reduced to ashes. He was devastated. Famine was all he had ever known, all he had. Without it there no purpose, nowhere for him to belong ... He almost couldn't bear it. Almost.
But since that day, a new feeling has begun to overshadow his inner sorrow: Hatred. Anger. Animosity. He has always fought with a strong will, and now more than ever the pain from his loss has begun to channel itself into a stout hatred. He is resolved, come what may, he will pass judgement on those who took his homeland from him, if that means sinking his bare fists through each and every one til he tears the FEAR, and the very life from their bodies.
.:Views on the Other Clans:.
.:Conquest:. Kiwi greatly values peace among the clans, but considers Conquest's mass saturation in it to be quite pointless and boring. He would much rather be patrolling or training to better defend his clan. However, their title as Conquest, and the fact they are always always seen on the front lines of any battle, has to speak for something. For that at least, he holds a mutual respect.
.:War:. Kiwi absolutely adores the War clan, their love of battle and the art of war is unparalleled, and like his own clan they are governed by a strong female. However, he does believe they are a tad gender biased. The fact that they are both led by a female and often populated of female warriors doesn't settle entirely well with him. Still, he would never pass the chance to spar with one of the ladies, as he sees it as a rather enjoyable challenge to test the extent of his skills. If he can match a War clansman in strength, he could probably do about anything he set his mind to.
.:Death:. While wonderful jewelmakers, and a truly vital part of the clans, Kiwi sees their religious beliefs as senseless and odd. Why waste time dreaming of the future when one can go and live it?? ... Perhaps he doesn't have the patience for such folly things as trance, but he won't deny their FEAR harvesting abilities are flawless, rivaled only by the sheer force of Conquest. He also views their priestesses much in the same manner he views War's female-based populous - with just a touch of disdain.
.:Views on Amityville:. Kiwi regards the Amity students with a good deal of caution. While very similar at their physical core with that of the clans, he upholds a firm belief that the more ancient and refined society of horsemen is the wiser path. This doesn't mean he won't interact with students if the task requires it ... but he likely won't consider it an entirely pleasant encounter.
.:Views on Deus Ex:. As the renegade sect of lowly humans who entirely undermined and single-handedly erased almost all that was Four Clans in a matter of moments, Kiwi would love nothing more than to see their broken bloody carcasses sprinkled across the blackened, sea-soaked sands of his homeland as penance. One of the foremost reasons he desires to become a scavenger is so that he may reap the FEAR from the souls of the humans who took his homeland from him. |

Mara was an apprentice sage on the Famine Isle, and Kiwi's childhood friend. On the surface she appeared bold and savvy, with a slight mischievous streak, but underneath she was a kind-hearted and free spirit. She became the world to Kiwi during a very insecure and tumultuous childhood in which he was bullied and shunned as inferior by several of his fellow horsemen. Through Mara's kindness he found faith in himself again, and worked hard to improve his skills as a colony soldier, and a horsemen. After the fall of the islands however, Mara disappeared indefinitely.
Several months later, when Insanity appeared in the Haunted House, drawing Kiwi and many others into an inverted world, he discovered the truth. Mara had perished with the island, and what remained of her FEAR had turned wrathful due to the Insanity's taint. The overwhelming realization that he had failed his one closest friend shook the young colt to his core, and reopened old wounds that allowed the Insanity to latch onto him. He has been struggling to come to terms with her death ever since, but that struggle has led him to desire a way to safely wield Insanity.
TL;DR: Mara is the reason he has Insanity. Because of this, he wants to find a way to use it positively, not fall victim to it.
» Before her death, Mara's age was roughly a few years younger than Kiwi himself, between the horsemen equivalent of 12-14.
» She was an intelligent mare, and at the time of her death was well on her way to becoming a renown sage one day, had well, death not claimed her.
» Her favorite flower was the spiderlily, which she wore often braided in a small crown through her hair. Kiwi occasionally wears them himself, a silent way of honoring her friendship.

.:Totem:. *Kiwi's 'birth totem' of sorts, the image of his namesake. He reveres it greatly, and in times of dire trouble, seeks advice from it's sage legacy. For info on the Kiwi bird's legend, see here and on the bird's traits that went into Kiwi's own creation, see here.
.:Kiwikun aka Kun:..:Kiwikun aka Kun:. This little baby just appeared suddenly in Halloween one day. Kiwi speculates it has something to do with the Horsemen's presence in Halloween. Regardless, he took up with Kiwi right away, and the pony had no choice but to keep him.
.:Kyouki:..:Kyouki:. It began as a shrouded candle seen from a distance ... As Kiwi approached closer the form began to shift, swirling with an odd fluidity until it took shape again ... Kiwi cherishes this little pet more than any other, and almost - if not as much - as he reveres his own totem. It's presence somehow soothes him when companionship cannot, and he often allows it to travel with him wherever he goes.
.:Main:. *Kiwi's main party, they are usually found helping him in various tasks around the reserve, or accompanying him on a scavenge around Halloween. He occasionally rotates them out, depending on what tasks he needs done at the time.

❖ Hua Lifen - A dear friend. She is very sensible, and not to be taken lightly. She is also far stronger than she appears, and Kiwi feels they have alot in common, despite being from separate clans.
❖ Lan - A dear friend. A Conquest noble he first met while running a booth at Fright Night. A sage noble, she carries herself well.
❖ Senga - A War Executioner and a dear friend. Kiwi admires his advice, and considers him to be a brother of sorts.
❖ Mengyao - A dear friend. Kiwi has held a secret admiration for him since the events of Seven Kings. Pride however, makes admitting that fact difficult for the two of them.
❖ Shaheen - A dear friend. Though it took the events of Seven Kings to bring them close, he considers her a strong and reliable ally.
❖ Soren - A Death guardian known for his stoic physique. Kiwi senses a strength in him, and enjoys the time they spend together. He is his Abs-sempai.
❖ Ying - A dear friend and Conquest horsewoman Kiwi helped to find the perfect flower for a pattern after her fabrics were ruined. He admires her gentle kindness greatly.
❖ Tseng - An earnest Conquest soldier, Kiwi has shared several battles with him and both respects and enjoys his company.
❖ Nergui - A Death priestess Kiwi met through Soren. He considers her a strong ally and a reliable friend. As well, it seems they both are suffering from the Insanity's taint.
❖ Faiyum - A quirky, mischievous alchemist from his home clan, he seems amused by Amity, questioning it much in the same way Kiwi does. Kiwi enjoys his company, and doesn't mind assisting him in various questionable tasks, as it's certain interesting things follow.
❖ Salbei - A Famine sage, Kiwi reveres him greatly, and finds his odd mannerisms somehow endearing.
❖ Na'ima - Salbei's apprentice, and new face to the Lost Clans.
❖ Eisheth - Kiwi's cousin from the Famine Isle, and mutual friend of Faiyum. She is a wonderful alchemist, and a true friend. Kiwi adores her and is glad to know she lives.
❖ Heidla - A Death priestess with a rather dark attitude, Kiwi nonetheless finds her to be good company, and enjoys the time they spend together.
❖ Willow - One of the kindest and most friendly Halloweeners Kiwi has encountered to date. In fact, she was his date for the Amity's 2nd Annual prom. He has learned much about Halloween from her, and would be happy to assist her if need be. They first met when Kiwi was assisting Fai in conducting an experiment, that almost caused the ghost ghoul to float away ... oh dear.
❖ Mmur - A fellow Famine colonist. Kiwi has seen him about, but rarely had the chance to speak. Still, Famine brethren are brethren. He holds a mutual respect towards him.
❖ Terra - Roch's sister, Kiwi spent the day as her 'slave' after being bought at the Student Council auction. Regardless, she was very kind, and he enjoyed the time spent with her.
❖ Roch - Willow's friend, who Kiwi first met at Prom. He was a little skeptical of him at first, but overall Kiwi considers him to be an okay boil.
❖ Meixiang - A kind ghoul Kiwi met at Prom. She was Eisheth's date.
❖ Muka - A friendly, somewhat odd boil, and Needle's date, who Kiwi met at Prom.
❖ Needle - A timid ghoul Kiwi met at Prom. She seemed rather shy and curious, but very polite.
❖ Sin - A curious succubus ghoul Kiwi met while assisting Fai in an experiment. She became an impish minipet for a short time.
❖ Genevieve - Kiwi first met her while assisting Fai in conducting an experiment. She seemed rather peppy, and easily distracted, turning into a fluffy ghost minipet before wandering away.
❖ Joachim - A reaper boil Kiwi met while assisting Fai in an experiment. He became an alpaca for a short period of time.
❖ TG - A rather, vertically challenged, skirt-chasing red demon boil Kiwi briefly met while conducting an experiment with Fai. He became a rather fluffy minipet for a short while.
❖ Gale - A Hunter, need I say more?? ... Okay, okay, he also shot Kiwi during a very serious hunting mission, and Kiwi would love nothing more than to return that assault. Permanently.
