Kaname took the glass. What was Rin after? She was new to this whole romantic setting. Sure there were guys she was interested in before moving, but none that she had dated. Kaname took a sip of the wine. She could taste the age of the wine. She looked to Rin. "What is the year?" Kaname asked as she swirled the wine in her glass.

Rin felt that Kaname's mind was else where but, he was happy that she still gave him the chance. He didn't care if in the end she only wanted to be friends, because he will always cherish the moment they are having now. He then blushed a little when he realized she asked a question and he was lost in thought. He laughed a little and said, "Sorry, I was lost in thought. This is Rüdesheimer Apostelwein 1727. A rare German wine worth about 6.483,24 million dollars, unopened and full." Rin smiled then sipped the wine again. He could taste the dry, good length, high acidity, nutty, appley taste. He did not like nuts but the nutty taste complimented the appley taste very nicely. He smiled at Kaname and then placed the glass down to start eating.

Kaname Chidori

Kaname ate her food and yawned as time drew close to 11pm. "I had fun. But I must get back home. I do have work in the morning and the rain is starting to pick up slightly." Kaname stood up and walked over to Eve. Fido followed. "I will see you tomorrow Rin. Good Night." Kaname placed her pooch in the basket and mounted Eve. "I'll drop Eve off at Goh's shop." She clicked her tongue and Eve and Kaname left Rin behind. As soon as they got out of the woods, Kaname spurred Eve into a gallop. She decided to get Fido home. She had a balcony on the second floor that created a covered porch on the first. She would leave Eve there for the night. She got home and sent Fido inside as she led Eve to the back. "Sorry my friend. Change in plan. Rest well here. I will bring you some water and some carrots." She walked inside and started a fire so she could dry her clothes and got Eve water and carrots. After she made sure the horse was secure for the night, Kaname changed into her pajamas and hung the wet ones by the fire. She grabbed a book and started reading on the couch before falling to sleep with Fido curled up at her feet.

Rin nodded to Kaname and thanked her for joining him. He gave her a hug, his leather jacket to stay warm and dried, and then bid her a safe return and a good night. After he watched her leave, the rain began to pick up. The crystal's light began to shimmer in ripples against the walls from the reflecting light they casted on the quickening falls. With a sigh he poured himself one last glass of the wine before packing everything back up. Golden eyes could be seen in the darkened back of the cave. Rin whistled over to the hidden animal and Arcia walked over to him. He fed her some left over stake and then removed the saddle and pouches from Necro, and then laid out some soft pillows for Arcia and Necro to lay upon.

"Figured the rain would get heavy and didn't want you two out in this. I thought you would have gone home, Arcia. Well it will be a cold night so here is a blanket for you to share." Rin then turned to the fire ring him and Alexander had built in the past when they came here. He built a fire and then place out a blanket and pillow which he laid upon it. He thought of Kaname one last time hoping he made a fine impression, as he slipped into a slumber. Arcia covered him with a blanket and then returned to Necro's side.

Chapter One
Trouble Brewing


As the sun sinks into the Earth and the moon rises, the valley's inhabitants begin to end their days. As they rest, so too does the valley. The rain falls heavily on the Earth, creating a gentle rumble... or so that is how it seems. Sometime in the middle of the night, a plane had flown so low that it created a nearly small scale earthquake in the valley. While the residents of the land slept, uneasily mind you, their houses were unsettled with their belongings thrown across their rooms. As the sun dawns on the sixth day of spring, the damage is noticed though the cause unknown to them, unless someone happened to wake up? Today is spring 6th, and the valley's troubles are just beginning.

Alexander Shizuro

It was seven in the morning when Alexander woke up, sprawled on the floor of his room. The rain was still pouring from the sky, but he could see in the minimal light his room a mess. Pictures were broken on the floor, his lamp shattered, and anything not heavy thrown all around. As he put his glasses on, he became aware that something had happened in the valley. He threw on his clothes as fast as possible and bolted out the door.

From what he could see, things around the valley were much like his room. When he reached his cafe, he could see inside the mess left behind from what happened. He opened the door, letting out a large sigh as he flicked the lights on. Tables and chairs were knocked over. He was afraid to look into his kitchen. What happened? An earthquake or something? Whatever happened he needed to figure it out. Until then, repairs and such needed to be done.

Madison woke up to a mess in her house. What could have happened? She thought instead of worrying about the damages inside, she would look to see what happened outside. She opened her door and the one coop that she was rebuilding had fallen but everything else was still standing. "Lassie. Come girl, lets check on the animals." She placed boots on and grabbed her umbrella and walked tot he barn first. Minor damages inside awaited. Just the few tools that she had hanging fell. Good. The animals seemed to be in a fuss though. That was to be expected. Madison walked to her chicken coop and The chickens seemed calm but no damages in either coop. She sighed in relief that the only damages were really inside her house.

Kaname slept through the whole thing. Fido woke her up with his barking around eight in the morning...later than she normally wakes. Kaname could only gasp at the mess. What happened? Her eyes widened and she ran to her back door and saw Eve in the yard running in circles. It was like Kaname could sense that Eve needed to go see something. She walked outside and opened the gate. "Go girl. Go check." Kaname watched as the mare took off to go check on Necro and Rin. Kaname thought she would go over to the cafe to make sure that everything was ok there. Not bothering if it matched, she threw on a long sleeved shirt, jeans, and put tennis shoes on. She left Fido at home and ran to the cafe. She saw Alex was already there. "Alex....what happened?"

Shiori Chidori

Shiori was probably the only one in the valley that knew what happened. Shiori was doing paperwork when she heard a noise that she wasn't used to hearing and went outside. That is when the huge Jet liner that passed a little too close to the ground. This caused the valley to shake and rumble. Shiori ran back into her house, being careful of the broken glass and changed into some casual clothes, as she was still wearing her work clothes, and she and Brute ran to the Head Quarters. File cabinet drawers were opened, little desk nick nacks were strewn everywhere. She was greeted by fellow officers that came to the safe haven. She issued that some officers go beyond the valley and see if the Jet liner was in trouble or what have it. Sometime during this, Shiori and Brute curled up with each other and had fallen asleep. Her faithful secretary walked in with some coffee. "Captain Chidori. It's seven am now." She woke the tired Shiori. Her officers hadn't come back yet. She was hoping that was good news. "Thanks. Get some rest, Brute and I will assess the damage." Shiori placed Brute's leash on him and walked out of the station. She headed to town and saw damages at the docks and the closer she got to town, the more the damage was apparent. Business owners arriving at their shops to assess the damages ignoring the scenes at home. Pets separated from owners. She pulled out her cell phone, which surprisingly got service in the valley, and called the office. "Gracie, Get the remaining officers together and make a pet rescue team and a team to reunite them with owners. Deploy them to the town. Make sure they have a tent and some of the kennels. Any news from the search team?" When Gracie said no, she told her to get some rest again and that she would take care of things. By now it was 8am and she got to Alex's Cafe. She poked her head in. "Morning Alex. I see that this has also taken damage." Brute sat on his haunches next to his friend and companion.

The lasting warmth of the embers living in the fire crackled and popped. Everyone slept soundly, but then Arcia ears twitched and then she popped up. Looking around, she hurriedly to awaken Rin as Necro now sensed the same danger now that she did. Necro stood and helped Arcia to awaken Rin. He finally awakened with a groan pushing the two away. With sleep in his eyes he saw that the two were frightened of something and wished to leave. He yawned and stretched before looking at his watch and saw it was 4 thirty-seven in the morning. With another mighty yawn he stood and started to look for his cigarettes and zippo. After a moment he l lightly laughed to himself just remembering they were in his jacket that he gave to Kaname to keep her warm for the night. Once the light of the fire completely died, leaving only the crystals mysterious glow, everything was silent. Now Rin could hear a low rumbling noise in the distance growing louder slowly at first. He trusted his two friends and packed his things quickly.

Once he was ready to go, the noise was at its loudest causing Rin to fall to the ground covering his ears. The cave shook and Rin could not move from the piercing pain of the noise. Arcia howled in pain and rushed outside and Necro reared himself in pain. He then saw Rin and rushed to get him. Necro put Rin on his back and rushed outside. Here the noise was loud and the floor still shook, but it was now longer painfully piercing from echoing in the cave. Rin dismounted Necro and looked to the sky as the rain fell heavily upon his face. A large plane flew low over head. He cursed at it and then got back on Necro. He rode him and lead Arcia to Rin's bar to get them out of the rain. He put them in the barn out back and then asked, "Are you two alright?" They seemed fine and then he went in to check his kegs and bottles. Thankfully his bar seemed untouched except from a few tables and stools over turned. He poured him a glass of scotch and then drank a little. Then fell alseep in his arms next to his drink.

Alexander Shizuro

Alex was cleaning when both Kaname and Shiori walked in, both with a similar response. Having been picking up the tables and chairs that had fallen, he wiped away a bead of sweat from his head. "Good morning ladies. As you can see the cafe was also messed up a bit, im afraid to even look inside the kitchen." He sighed and sat down on a chair he had picked up. The valley was a mess, as were homes and shops. "Hey Shiori, you are almost always awake at the ungodliest hours, did you see what happened?". Over the years of taking care of the valley, Alex was almost considered the mayor though he refused to be any authoritive figure. But if the valley was in trouble he would gladly help out in any way.

Madison started picking up the frames that had fallen when she picked one up that was taken at the last huge festival which was the New Year's Festival. She thought about how close everyone in the Valley were. They all helped one another. She thought back to what her Uncle said, "A time in need is a time to be a friend indeed." She set down the frames and walked out to her barn. Her trusty horse, Shadow, was waiting for her. She brought him out and mounted him. Normally when it was raining, she didn't ride him, but she knew her friend Kaname probably needed help. She rode off to Kaname's house. She walked around back and saw the lights off. Must be at the Cafe. She decided that it was best to go check on her other friends. She went to Shiori's and it was the same. As well as Alex's, Goh's and Rin's. She took off towards Rin's restaurant and found the door unlocked. She went in and saw sleeping Rin. Deciding that it was best to leave him sleeping, she left and went past the cafe seeing that the other three were there. She knew everything was gonna be ok and headed back home. She needed to clean the house.

Kaname Chidori

Kaname nodded her head and patted her cousin's shoulder before running into the kitchen. "I'll check." Kaname gasped at how almost untouched it was. There were pots and pans everywhere but the appliances and tables were still upright. The tables had shifted though but that was a small task that she and Alex could accomplish. She decided that she would pick up the pots and pans and make them some coffee. She was surprised that all the china and dishware remained on the shelves. Then she noticed some of the coffee cups, plates, and platters were shattered on the floor but only a few of each at most. She counted the sets and it came to a total of 8 shattered dishware. Easily replaceable. She started brewing the coffee as she hung various utensils back up on the tables' overhead racks and placed the pots and pans back in their proper places. All the while, she listened to Shiori talk. She admired how professional she was even though she was probably on edge.

Shiori sighed and wished she hadn't because the thoughts of it plagued her mind. "It's was terrible. A jet liner flew a little too low for comfort, and I know this valley isn't near an airport, not one that houses jet liners at least. The backwash of the engine's roar caused a mini earthquake. I have officers searching in the direction it went to search for the liner and for survivors if it indeed crashed. ." Shiori leaned against the table Alex was sitting at. This whole ordeal was already taking a toll on her but she didn't let it show. "All we can do is rescue animals, reunite them, and pray that this jet liner didn't crash." When she finished her statement, Brute lightly pawed her leg as if to tell her that it was gonna be ok. Brute knew how to make Shiori smile, ever since she was on the K-9 unit back in Tokyo.

Eve arrived into the barn and found the two animals sound asleep. She nestled against Necro and slept with him. Inside the bar, Rin just awoke next to his drink to see the tables and stools over turned. With a heavy sigh, he started to turn his bar back to normal. After an hour of work he finished sweeping and wiping everything down. He looked to the clock. It was only nine and he was still exhausted from the rude city life. His head still pounded and he needed a cigarette with a cup of coffee. He was lucky that he had a single match and cigarette he found cleaning. With a sigh of relief, he lit the cigarette taking a slow in and exhale, enjoying the cigarette. He left for Alexander's Cafe'.

It only took Rin a few minutes to arrive at the cafe', tossing his cigarette to the side he entered without a word. His head still ached worse than any hang over he could ever have, though he never had any. He sulked to his chair and leaned back in the chair tilting his hat over his face.

"I wish you luck in your search efforts Shiori," he sighed, looking over to Rin. Guy looked like hell so Alex figured to let him be. He handed his friend a cup of coffee. The valleys disarray and chaos was definitely a problem. "Hey you guys, has anyone seen Goh today" Alex wanted to get supplies and tools to start fixing what was broken and damaged.

Kali Zane

Kali woke up with a start. It seemed that she had another nightmare. She hated them, but this one seemed to real. She sat up and rubbed the sleep from her face before glancing around the room. There was glass, shattered on the floor, her books had fallen off their shelf.

Carefully, Kali crawled out of her bed and threw on some work clothes. If everything looked like this, she just might be able to help. It had been a while since anyone needed her help. She wouldn't force her services, but she was good at what she did. At least, that was what her uncle had told her.

Kali grabbed threw on some old work boots, grabbed her tool bag and ran out the door. She wouldn't worry about her place, right now. This was no time to be selfish if someone else's home or shop was in worse need for repair.

She stopped short at her door and frowned at the scene before her. She could see the buildings. She ran on ahead, to the cafe, where she could only guess that people decided to meet. It seemed the most logical. She sighed with relief when she opened the door to find a few faces. They looked tired and worried.

"How can I help," she asked as she picked a few things off the floor and set them on a table. She was ready to work. She was always ready to work and maybe, if she didn't sit behind the counter at the general store all the time, she could get to know people more.

Rin put the spoon fulls of sugar into his coffee and gently sturred it trying not to hit the sides to save his head. He sipped on the freash hot coffee with a smile. It was slowly helping his head. After a few moments Rin spoke. "I found a note on Goh's Smith door last night on my way to the Scarlet Moon. He left yesterday to the city for some supplies he hade to get personally. I took the note." Rin placed the note softly on the table and then went back to his silence and coffee.

Madison finished cleaning her house shortly after she arrived back home. After a needed shower, Madison changed clothes and headed outside grabbing her umbrella. She walked into her barn and got out Shadow again and mounted him. She looked down at Lassie. "Come on girl. Lets go to Alex's and come up with a plan." She took off with Lassie close behind into town.

Kaname poked her head out of the kitchen when she heard Kali. "Morning Kali. I am making some breakfast. Do you want some coffee?." Kaname was making a power breakfast: Pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Kaname always believed that Alex's Cafe should be a place where people came and got home cooked meals even in a time of a disaster. She saw the pot of coffee finished and poured Alex, Shiori, and Rin a cup. She served those cups to the others and waited for Kali to give an answer.

Shiori looked over to the young General Store owner. It was Shiori's job after all to know everyone in town and to keep them safe. "Good Morning Kali Zane. I hope you are well this morning. At this time, there is only pets to get back to owners and until the blasted rain lets up, there is nothing we could repair to the outside." Shiori stood up as her phone rang. "Excuse me. I need to take this." Brute stayed behind and looked at Kali. Brute tended to size up people he hasn't really seen before. Brute curled up next to Alex waiting for his partner to return from outside where she was taking the phone call. After a few moments, Shiori walked back in. "Well good news and bad news.....which do you want to hear first?" She asked aloud not to anyone in particular.
