Mostly composing at the moment...got some mixing to do soon, too.

Well, then; have you mastered mastering?

I'm guessing that that's the step where you raise and lower the sounds of different tracks and get rid of unwanted white noise if there is any...amirite?

Something like that....and with what I have right now, yes. However, since you can always get new plug-ins and other things for your programs, your method can always change.
