More on stats debate
Boosts
Well, looking at that stat comparison I put up it's actually pretty situational in which a mage class is stronger than a fighter. And some of the stat numbers are pretty deceiving on screen.
Case in point: take Erhard and my character, Yeulveren. Erhard's stat is 27, while mine is 28. We have our differences, and yes, that is a high number in comparison to some of the other people. At first glance, that does seem pretty uneven in comparison to the fighters we have in the group. But then you'll notice that we're healers. We have a ton of healing spells and buffs, with maybe two or three proper attacks.
Other high stat-range people include Skadi, who is a fighter but is more defensively-oriented, and Maji, who is also a healer. I'm just doing this at first glance, of course, so it's likely that I've missed someone.
...But now that I'm looking at his profile properly, Clueit actually looks like his would be pretty balanced, too. It's strong, yes, but a lot of his skills rely on chance and variables--which we can do--if I'm reading it right. So yeah, it really depends on how you look at things.

Boosts
There are boosts, yes, and you can make skills that buff (and debuff) said stats. So if you want, you can create an Attack Stance skill which boosts your own stats for a short time (or anyone you choose, if you so desire--there is an option to set a target from One Enemy to All Enemies to One Ally to All Allies to User to Dead Ally and so on).
As for "switching"--if I understand you correctly--there is nothing to do it automatically. However, if you set two skills, one being Attack Stance and the other being Defense Stance, I can add the effect in that going into Attack Stance will buff the user's Attack for a set amount of turns while removing any Defense buffs if they're on, but then if they want to change, then casting Defense Stance will add a Defense buff while removing the Attack buff.
And no, there's nothing to make them last through a battle, though I can probably get around that by setting the number of turns they last to 100 or some other absurdly high number... I'll have to test it first, though.
