It's the best virtual replacement he can get I guess on low tech and a small budget. ^^
It's sad, really.

As for the potential for virtual reality to replace reality--your article states that people are becoming increasingly isolated. Is it possible that people are becoming more fearful?
I don't know what they would be fear.

Even if that were not true, a virtual reality that could provide the same stimuli as reality (sight, touch, taste, sound, smell) could easily trump reality with benefits like:
-interaction through a buffer against real-world dangers like disease and violence
-interaction through a buffer against real-world dangers like disease and violence
Explain.

-the ability to choose every aspect of the way one portrays oneself, from appearance to in-world abilities; increased self-expression promoting maximum authenticity.
For example.
Books are comfortable wisdom. They don't bite or smell or scold or steal, you have to give them that.

I don't see the connection.
