===>

A young man stands in front of a glowing gate. While you do not recognize him as one of the previously mentioned players in this game, you can assess a few things about him upon first glance. First, he is human. Second, he is rather well dressed. Third, he is rather cold. What is this newcomer’s name?

===> Enter Name

Your name is SKYLER SNYDER, and you are having, to say the least, a very strange day. Normally, you would be sitting in the comfort of your home working away on your latest fashionable creation. Instead, you are in a strange land inside a video game attempting to figure out what in the world is going on. You rather assume this is not how normal games work. But you suppose you are getting ahead of yourself slightly.

Your story starts with a simple piece of advice from your godmother. You see, some people would consider you somewhat stoic and old-fashioned. You prefer to say that you are meaningful with your actions and have a healthy respect for the past, but semantics don’t really matter at the moment. Thus, your godmother thought it might be a good idea if you stepped away from your sewing machine and tried something new. You found no harm in humoring her at least a little and decided to join a group playing a curious new game called SBURB. Perhaps that was your first mistake.

Upon installing the game, you noticed strange meteors falling around your flat. As you scoured the chatlogs for a group, you found out that apparently these meteors were a result of the game. A ridiculous notion, but nonetheless true. See, this is why you are wary of technology! However, it was rather too late. You became rather concerned upon finding that most of the groups had filled, but you were saved by a mysterious fellow player. You haven’t really spoken to them since.

Not that you have had much time to speak with them, mind. You have been too busy exploring your new location. It is pretty in its own way, if not surprisingly bleak, full of magnificent statues sculpted out of the natural ice and rock. Still, you can tell there is something missing to these statues, a ‘spark’, if you will. The lynxlike consorts you met seem to agree with you and noted that the growing sun did not help matters. They also said you would be able to help, though you are not sure how quite yet. Still, they called you a Smith of Frost, and you feel a connection to the ice and snow, as if something is waiting under the surface to form. But now is not the time to muse on that. The consorts escorted you to a strange gate, motioning for you to enter.

===> Skyler: Enter Strange Gate

You figure that where there is a gate, there is progression. After all, outside of your mysterious benefactor and the consorts, you have yet to speak with anyone within the game. Considering the game, to your understanding, requires a group, this has been odd to you. In any case, any good play consists of multiple acts. This must be the start of the next one, so to speak. You quickly move through the gate, curious as to where it will lead.

Where the portal leads appears to be inside a long hallway. A quick glance around and you notice a sign reading ‘Welcome to the Land of Doors and Mirth’. Wait, you are on another land? You had assumed you would have to finish business on your own before moving on, but then you don’t really know how these games work. Still, you cannot complain about the area. The hallway is narrow, but there is an inherent antiquity and grace to the styling. You wish you had thought to captchalogue a sketchbook before you left LOSAS so you could sketch some new designs. Ah well. As you continue moving through the hallway, you hear distant chatter. Ah, other people. That is a good sign, you think. Since the door is currently open, you figure you can simply walk right in.

Skyler: Greetings. Please excuse my unannounced arrival, but do you happen to know what's going on?

You can’t help letting out a ‘******** Yeah!’ upon seeing Baldr begin to fade away. You had never doubted you would win, but damn if that hadn’t been a tough battle. Still, it’d been fun as hell too. Reminded you of some of your better FLARP campaigns. Now, however, comes the fun part. Now, you get to collect some sweet, sweet loot.

As you start rummaging through the spoils of battle, collecting some grist here and there, you hear a strange voice in your head.

You smash through the lower levels of your echeladder and land at the admirable title of Clockwork Tinkerer. All of your stats raise considerably, and you accumulate an impressive two and a half boonbonds for your efforts in battle. You also gain a new ability and the power of light…

You find it a bit strange to have a voice in your head, but you figure that information is pretty cool. Especially the monetary spoils. More boonbonds are never a bad thing. Still, you had been hoping for a new piece of armor or something you could at least sell for profit. No sooner do you think this than Shorty throws you a set of dice. You can practically feel how lucky these are. Now THAT is a reward you can use.

Elalth: Thanks, Shorty. These’ll do nicely. Also, I think we need to put ya on a leash or something. Don’t need you getting yourself killed, funny as ******** as that might be to watch.

Your attention goes from Bridgette to Asherah as you see a plan begin to form in the minds of your fellow players. Taking out the Denizen’s legs was certainly a task you were more than capable of handling. The boost to your trident’s capabilities would be a boon with that, and it gave your weapon a brilliant glow. A sight most fitting, you suppose. The great heiress wielding a weapon of dazzling power. Still, you would have to do more than look impressive to get anywhere in this battle. You would fight the Denizen, and you would win.

Tighting the grip on your trident, you dash towards the Denizen. You are not as agile on land as you are on water, but thankfully you don’t need to be at the moment given Arachne is dealing with attacks on multiple fronts. Stabbing into one of the arachnoid legs, you twist your arm up, slashing into it before backing off. No need to get careless and hit, after all.

Seer of Space

Serahs turned towards the new comer, missing two of the figures fading from existence and their memories washing away from her mind. In front of her stood one of the pink non-trolls, and by his speech he was just as clueless as you were, but just as calm.

"Aah, I'm not quite sure myself. However, with a level heaad we could eaasily figure it out. Oh, where are my maanners. My name is Seraahs, and you are?"

The purpleblood shifted her weight, unnerved from the room she was in. The masks didn't creep her out so much as their empty eyes did. It was like staring into a horde of her fellow purples, and good things never followed that gaze.

In sharp retaliation to being hit in the legs multiple times, Arachne started swiping the area in front of her with her front two legs, then turning so that she could do it to someone else. It was evident what they were doing was having an effect on her though.

Osiris had managed to dispatch the other underlings and was now focusing solely one the large basilisk that he found himself fighting. He calmly avoided it when it lunged at him and stuck as many times as he could when it passed, the combined powers of Shyria's light and Asherah's hellfire significantly increasing the damage output.

Tora and Asherah backed away from the denizen when it started swiping at them with her legs, then they both went back when she turned. Asherah hit one of her back legs so hard that it fell and she collapsed, still mobile for the most part but obviously hindered by the sudden loss in function of the leg.

==> Test one of the arrows.

Your name is Hennry Whetle, and it was actually a bad ******** idea to try one of those Light Arrow, gog damn!

Hennry hissed lightly as the light burned his eyes, figuring trying the arrow towards the opposite side of the room would have been safe enough. The arrow was almost pretty as it soared through the air, little flecks of light bouncing through the air after it. When it struck the wall, it exploded into a light show Hennry personally could do without seeing again. He wasn't sure if the arrows were named 'Light Arrows' because of literal light, or because of luck and fortune, but he was betting heavily on the later.

Hennry was not a betting Troll.

He supposed that he could try them on his planet to see how they fared there, and he made a mental note to craft some huskspecks with darker lenses before he tried it. Sighing, he put the arrows away and hoped something would happen, like a portal so they could continue their quest.

==> Do the Windy Thing.

You have no idea what the Windy Thing is, but floating around is kind of cool, you guess.

Kathix had come to the conclusion that floating around on air was like drifting through the water, which was kind of refreshing at that point. Her feet hurt, her lungs burned, and it was nice to just lay back and relax on the light breeze. The slight burning feeling in her digestion pouch had not gone away yet, but she figured it might just be a Life thing.

Peering through her huskspecks, Kathix was please to note that she could craft a new dagger, which was great because Mistletoe gave her the willies and wanted to wait until she could get to a place that would let her practice with ease. Mainly, her planet. Or, maybe the Heiresses, if she had an ocean there. She bared her teeth a little from thinking about the fuchsia blood, wondering if the 'Posh' troll had taken a note from others and had stepped up her game.

"no problem dude" ikki said "ANYO-oh why you do you have to there with the leash comment, man" he said looking at elath "shoot dude" he said walking away. he started to search through the loot pile and took out the serpent helm, he inspect it and put it on "this is a cool helmet" he said, the helmet was too big for him , it fill over his eyes. ikki removed it and looked around for a something he can use. Ikki wandered around, looking at the remaining loot. Muttzerker was barking to get ikki's attention about something, ikki waved his off as he picked up a strange looking hilt "huh?" he said inspecting it. it activated, a massive blade appeared with the sound of a lightsaber "whoa!" he said, the blade resembled a viking blade made from hard light, it gave off a soft mist "so cool, this is mine!" he said testing it on a pillar. ikki quickly diced the pillar with ease. "aesir's purity?" he said "probably named after the norse warrior gods and baldr"

"you guys ready to go?" he said as hennry was testing his light arrows. he was walking by where the arrow was hit "SHHIIITT!" he shouted getting blinded, ikki reared back clutching his eyes "I can't see!" Ikki shouted. "hey, you know what will make this suck even more?" a voice in his head said with a delightful sadistic tone "if your new storm aspect goes off." "what?" ikki called out "who said that?" as storm clouds gathered above them " tut tut, looks like rain" the voice said.

"guys?" ikki called out as thunder clapped soon, the ballroom was wrecked by lightning. Muttzerker sprite zoomed passed the lightning whimpering in fear "mutt?" ikki said trying to see. meanwhile in the exile earth, RF stared in horror "gotta help him" he said, his prospitian shelled hands typed on the key board ===> stay calm

Everything appears to be going to plan so far. The multiple attacks are keeping Arachne’s focus off of any particular member of your group, not to mention causing her to lash out wildly. She was still dangerous, of course, but she is easier to deal with this way. Even better is that Asherah appears to have disabled one of Arachne’s legs. Now’s your chance! You quickly move in and strike at the Denizen’s flank as she collapses before jumping back. This is almost too easy. Still, you wonder if you can do more to keep the advantage on your side. Hmm, you wonder…

Bridgette: Asherah, try to force Arachne into a corner with your Hellfire. Shriya, see if you can concentrate a burst of light and blind her.

If this is as difficult as the Denizens are going to be, then you are going to find yourself rather disappointed. Not that you expected to have too much trouble, but really, Arachne was hardly a fair fight for the group of you. You can almost hear your dear Lusus advising you to not become prematurely confident at the thought. Still, things are progressing nicely on your end. You have a bit of a close call when Arachne swipes at you, to be fair. If you had not already been retreating, you might have been rather injured.

Your attention shifts as you hear the human call out a few more instructions. You should be annoyed at someone daring to tell you what to do, but you will kindly let it slide. After all, you cannot expect a human to understand proper courtesy, and she was simply attempting to expedite the slaying of the Denizen. Besides, you will relish a chance to show your skill again. Let it serve as a reminder of your greatness. Your hands glow for a moment as you form another ball of light, this time sending it at the Denizen's face.

You simply shake your head as Shorty dives off into the loot pile. Guess it was a bit 'eh' to make a leash crack to the guy with the barkfiend sprite, but whatever. Your point still stood. At least he's easy to distract. You figure he could be worse. With a little work, he might even be a decent fighter. Not that you care, of course. You are too chill to bother helping the runt.

A cursory glance of the room shows that everyone seems to be finding some sweet new gear. Makes sense that there's something for everyone. Nerdling even decides to test his new arrows out...though maybe that isn't the best idea. You chuckle a bit at his hiss. Still, it's not quite at bad as the storm clouds that are summoned.

Elalth: And you wonder why I said we need to keep you on a leash...

You frown as you start to become rather soaked. You sure do not enjoy feeling like a drowned purrbeast. Looking down at the dice in your hand, you shrug. This is as good a time as any to test your new tool out. Giving your LADY LUCK a hearty shake, you see the dice glow slightly as they hit the ground. '1-6-3-2-1-1-4 Sunny Day'. Looks like the dice know what you need. You knew they were lucky, though you imagine the fact that they are summoning a ray of light doesn't hurt either. The storm clouds quickly dissipate. That was easy. Really, you aren't really sure why you all are still here, though. You decide to ask.

Elalth: So, what now? I mean, we bet the Denizen. Shouldn't there be a door opening or something? I mean, not that it hasn't been interesting and all, but I'm sure we all have s**t to do. Besides, no one wants to just stand around all day. No profit in that.

Drake Angelo

Unlike Ikki, the chandelier stopped before it hit the ground, floating back up and reattaching itself to the ceiling seemingly without anyone noticing.

Drake noticed, of course, because he had been right under it. "That would be the work of the consorts." Sekhmet told him before he could ask. "I wonder, if they're using their power does that mean the others fared well against their denizens?"

"We shouldn't be waiting long, once the others are defeated, something should happen..."

Drake was subsequently blinded temporarily by the light arrow going off, and soaked a bit when the storm appeared. He just kind of stood there while all of that happened and grist close to him were slowly pulled toward him. The light in the ballroom dimmed just a bit more as a gentle ball of light floated down from the chandelier and hovered in front of him.

Drake stared at it for a bit, then tentatively reached his hand out, and touched it. It flashed, then broke into smaller orbs.

You've attained the power of light! Hahaha, no, actually you have obtained a greater affinity for it.

What was that supposed to mean? What was he supposed to-

Drake's eyes went wide and he gasped loudly, it was if his head was suddenly filled with information. Mostly about the extent of his powers, but there were other things too. He took three steps, like he was going up some stairs, and ascended without actually stepping on anything. Now, standing on nothing about three feet in the air still. He reached his hand out and closed his eyes.

Oak, slightly springing, 11 and a half inches, dragon heartstring...dragon hearstring...dragon heartstring.... His eyes opened, and a wand appeared in his hand. He glared down at it, then pointed it up in the air. "Expecto patronum!" He thought about a couple of minutes ago, seeing Baldr fade away, and a spectral dragon shot out of the tip of the wand. It flew over everyone's heads before landing next to a grinning Drake.

"Impurressive"

"He's doing the void step too, like Velvela!" Delphyne pointed out.

Without warning, Arachne let out a deafening scream of anger and pain, probably from losing her leg and the subsequent attacks. She started shooting web, so quickly that there were thick strands all over the entire ballroom.

Osiris managed to do dodge them as they flew, but in doing that he was left open, and the basilisk knocked him into one. It was sticky, and incredibly tough, he couldn't escape and the basilisk was approaching fast. Calmly, Osiris tried striking the web with his staff, and the light and hellfire it was infused with burned through it and released him. He struck the basilisk over the head as it reached him, making it rear back and giving him time to turn his head back to the fight.

"You can burn through the web!" He called, turning back to his fight, the basilisk wouldn't be there much longer.

Meanwhile, Arachne started to approach those caught in the we, Tora being one of them.

Adeline White

Things just kept getting weirder and weirder.

The room Adele had entered filled with someone human at least, but also someone that she didn't recognize, then there were the...alien? Of which she had no idea what to think about. I'm Adeline, it's nice to meet you."

Then even more aliens came in.

It was through the door that had previously remained unopened. Three of them stepped in, one male had the distinct features of a sheep, the other two girls had features of a bird and wolf respectively.

"Ah, it seems like we came just in time." The wolf girl said, making sure not to close the door behind her.

"Um...hello?" Adeline greeted, not sure how else to react in this situation.

"Try to explain things to them quickly, Demitrius." The bird girl said. "I'm sure they're plenty confused already."

Turning once more, Serahs smiled at the new human and bowed her head a little in greeting. She opened her mouth to greet the new female, and to introduce herself when three beastpeople walked in a door that had been shut tight just moments ago.

"Fae" something in her mind whispered, faint as it was but she caught the name.

Tilting her head, Serahs waited a moment, surveying the three Fae, as she now knew them. One, the male, resembled a Baabeast, while the other two, females, resembled respectively a Chirpbeast and a Howlbeast. She did not have to wait long for them to stop talking, and she held up a hand in respect before talking.

"Before we get into why we are on a joint world all fighting a Denizen way before we should be fighting a boss like so, perhaps introductions are in order? We should at least know who we are fighting with, agreed? My name is Serahs Parker, a troll for those who might not know my race. I am a Seer of Space."

As quickly as you had entered, the room begins to fill further. You cannot recognize any of the three who appear, not that you would expect to, but it is their visage that it most interesting to you. Each one seems to have animal attributes mixed into a human appearance. On any other day, this either would have surprised you immensely or would have been rationalized as good costuming. After all you had seen today, however, you simply accept it. Besides, the other girl- Serahs, she called herself- is stranger looking still. At the mention of answers, you nod. Yes, there appears to be much to explain, and your newest companions appear to have answers.

Skyler: Ah, where are my manners? I should have introduced myself when I entered. I am Skyler Snyder. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Serahs, Miss Adeline.

Skyler: Also, pardon my ignorance, but am I correct in assuming that Miss Adeline and I are the only humans present in this room? I recall a mention of aliens when I skimmed through the chat logs.

While you wait for a response, you decide to take a closer look around the room. You had barely bothered to do so upon entering, having merely followed the sound of voices. Well, whoever inhabited this land seems to have quite a thing for masks. The entire room is filled with them! You are simultaneously inspired and unnerved. Some of the designs are so intricate, so unusual, that you cannot help but wonder what sort of clothing would pair with them. Once again, you wish you had a sketchbook on you. The empty gaze, however, constantly settling on you no matter where you turn, is far less appealing. You straightened your back, turning your focus back to the conversation.

This is perhaps the most disgusting thing you have had the misfortune of being involved with in your life. Just as everything had been going well, the Denizen decides to spew web over the entire ballroom. This, of course, includes you. You almost feel nauseous at the thought of where the web came from, but you hold it in as any proper lady would. You try to pull against the webbing, but this only serves to get you further caught in its sticky grip. Ugh, you didn’t even want to think about getting this out of your hair.

Hearing Osiris, you nod. You swipe your trident as best as you can, burning through the web around it. After quickly freeing yourself, you look around. It would seem others in your group are still a bit trapped. You suppose you can do them the honor of being freed by yours truly.

You find yourself in a bit of an awkward situation. Unfortunately, when Arachne began spraying web across the ballroom, it managed to knock your skillet out of your hand. Thus, you are now stuck, figuratively and literally, without a way of freeing yourself. Thankfully, it appears that your fellow players were more fortunate in their dealings with the web. You make sure to thank Shriya as she slices the web around you with her trident. Well, what now?

Now would appear to be helping the others trapped in the web. Arachne seems to have set her sights on Tora in particular. You figure that this is probably a very bad thing seeing as the Fae are the strongest fighters in your group. Well…there is still a great deal of web in the room. You believe that the rumor about spiders being immune to their webs is more or less untrue. Perhaps you can trap her already injured legs in it. You will have to guide her along the right path, but it might work. Of course, that assumes you can get her attention. You decide to momentarily store your reacquired frying pan in favor of your secondary knifekind. Aiming carefully, you throw one at the Denizen’s backside, hoping to catch her attention.

Bridgette: Hey, Arachne, over here!
