Serena tilted her head at him as she found him next to her and she felt a bit uneasy. She didn't like people being very close to her especially in such a small space. "Um I see." She said as she looked over at him, before lookin at her bread. "Well, I call everyone like that. It's polite way of greeting people. Yes, I met Kai, he's been very polite and he saved me earlier from an attack and carried me back here for my medicine."

Kyo noticed that Serena seemed to get a bit uneasy when he sat close to her, so he moved a bit away from her to give her some space. Kyo really didn't want to freak out Serena in anyway since it wasn't really gentleman-like to do so.

Kyo responded, "Ah, yes. That young lad, Kai, is quite charming and polite. Every time that I have seen him, he is always like that towards other people. Although...recently...I only have learned of his name. And oh? An attack? At least, Kai was there to help you out."

Kyo thought for a moment and then said, "Well, it is best for me to head back to my mansion. I must also get ready for the ball. I guess I'll see you later at the ball, then."

Kyo got out of his chair, bowed Serena a goodbye, and then headed for his mansion in a fast pace. Once he was at his mansion, he headed straight to his bedroom. Kyo then took a quick shower and tied his hair back. He then put on his black suit and black top hat on. Before leaving for the castle, Kyo took a quick drink of blood from one of his vampire servants. Within a few minutes, Kyo was back at the castle. Kyo decided to wander around the castle and found Lelandra coming down some flight of stairs.

From the bottom of the stairs, Kyo called out to Lelandra, "That dress seems to suit you quite well."

Kai dried his hair and then tied back his hair once more. He grabbed his ball outfit from his walk-in closet and put it on. Kai smiled at his reflection in his mirror as he adjusted his tie. After that, Kai grabbed a bite to eat before leaving the mansion. Once he got to the castle, he began to head towards the ballroom, which was connected to the garden courtyard with the maze.

Serena nodded and after finishing her snack she went upstairs to finish her hair. When she came back down she noticed Kai as she was walking to get used to her showes and waved. "Kai!" She said as she walked over to him. "Wow! You look like a prince!" She added as she looked at him with a slight blush. She also noticed the man from early nearby with a lovely woman coming down some stairs. "Wow."

Lelandra heard Kyo from downstairs, so she looked down and saw him in a regal get up. The compliment caused a small smile to appear on her face. "Thank you, Kyo, and might I say, you look ravishing in your outfit." Walking downstairs, she met up with Kyo. The ball was getting ready to start, or so she hoped. It was odd not knowing why or what was going to happen, which gave her an uneasy feeling. Serena, Kai, Draak, and Kyo were all new to her, but she seemed to be okay with the idea of new people for once, although, Serena made her uneasy due to the fact that she was human. Kai made her uneasy, but not as much as a normal human would, which made her begin to wonder why. She let the thought pass and looked around some. By not having Halo around, she felt as if she did not know what to do, or have direction. "Kyo, do you know why we were all invited here? Demons and humans do not usually get along when placed in one place for too long." She remembered during her studies and just from experience that humans feared the things that went bump in the night. Unfortunately, she was a scary monster that hid her appearance quite well. Her curiosity was something that kept her going on in the world, especially when she found humans who understood her purpose and message.

Kai turned around and saw Serena, who was in a very beautiful black and white dress with green ribbons. Kai started to blushed at the sight of Serena and of her comment on him looking like a prince.

Kai replied, "Oh...hey, Serena! You really think so?! Thank you! You look absolutely adorable just like a princess!!!"

Kai smiled at Serena. Then, Kai held out his white gloved hand towards Serena as he looked towards where she was looking at. He then saw Lelandra coming down the stairs with Kyo standing at the bottom of the stairs.

Kai commented, "Everyone looks so beautiful in their ball outfits!"

As he smiled at Lelandra and tipped his black top hat towards Lelandra, Kyo responded, "You are quite welcome, my dear. And thank you for the compliment."

After he had thought for a moment, Kyo replied, "Well, I kind of do, but it is not all clear to me, even after going to these balls for years. From what I have heard over the years, it has something to do with non-humans, such as ourselves, to be paired with a human or rather we pick a human to become a companion with. I suppose once you have picked a human, you get to do whatever you wish to do with that human. I'm not too sure if there's an underlying reason to all of this though. Unfortunately, that is all I know."

Then, Kyo sighed as he shrugged his shoulders. Kyo then positioned his arm in the same way a gentleman would when a gentleman was about to hold onto a woman's arm.

Lelandra reached the bottom and heard his response to her question on why they were here. Pairings of humans and non-humans, how strange. She thought to herself. She was not sure how that would work, but if she was going to have to pick, she would have to think of who she would pick as her human companion. She noticed that Kyo had prepared to take her arm, which amazed her since no one has ever been kind enough to consider escorting her anywhere. She slipped her arm into his and smirked some. "Thank you, Kyo, for letting me know a little bit about this situation." She then thought a moment. "Kyo, if you would not mind, I would love to have at least one dance tonight with you." She really did not know anyone that well, and hopefully she would be able to not get lost in the crowd tonight.

Kyo smiled as Lelandra placed her arm in his arm. It had been awhile since he had someone to offer his arm to. There hadn't been anyone for years at the ball that would take his arm or anyone who didn't interest him enough to offer his arm to. It was probably because he never really did much socializing with other people before the ball. He was usually by himself at the library reading books or somewhere quiet on the island, whether it was at his mansion or outside of his mansion, when he could write poetry and songs.

Kyo replied, "You're welcome. Why, of course. I would love to dance with you at least once tonight."

Since they had some time before the ball officially started, Kyo walked with Lelandra throughout the castle. They ended up in the rose garden, which was in the courtyard of the castle. Kyo then inspected the roses and found three small roses. He chose a red rose, a pink rose, and a purple rose. He then placed them all into the chest pocket of his suit.

Kyo thought for a moment and then asked, "Would you like a rose? Because I think a red rose would make your dress look even more fabulous."

Lelandra nodded upon his approved response. When he began to lead the way, she realized that they were walking outside. All of a sudden they were in a rose garden, and Kyo was picking three roses. He was very precise about the placement of the flowers in his pocket. She was eyeing a black rose, it was obviously a dead red one, but it still was whole and on the bush mixed in with the reds. Hearing his question, she looked at him listening. "You are right, a red rose would go with my dress." It was strange to her that she was so comfortable with another being. It had been so long since she had any companion or acquaintance other than Halo.

Serena hugged him with a smile as she then looked at him and straightened his jacket. "No way, I look common... you look like a prince come to take a princess to the ball." She said as she nodded. "Mhmm, everyone looks so amazing." She added as she giggled and grabbed his hand. "So go dance!" She said as she looked arund before getting a girl to dance with him. "Go Kai-kun!"

Kyo then picked out a lovely and full red rose for Lelandra. Kyo sniffed the red rose before gently tucking the red rose behind Lelandra's ear.

As he stepped back to admire the red rose in Lelandra's hair, Kyo comment, "Perfect. You look more fabulous now."

Kyo then smiled at Lelandra while offering his arm once more to her.

Kyo asked, "Well, shall we head to the ballroom now?"

As he smiled at Serena, Kai replied, "Thank you. You're like a princess to me still though."

Kai reluctantly danced with the girl that Serena had gotten him to dance with. Kai only wanted to dance with one person and that was Serena. After he was dancing with the girl, Kai came back to Serena.

As he bowed with one of his hands behind his back while his other hand was held out towards Serena, Kai asked, "May I have the honor to dance with you?"

Kai then took Serena's hand while he gently kissed the back of her hand.

Lelandra did not move as Kyo placed the red rose behind her ear. "Thank you," she said in a low voice. As he offered his arm again, she once again slid her arm into his. "Yes, I think we should head inside. I can hear light music." The ball must be getting ready to start, or that was what she thought since she heard the light music. Kyo led her into the house once more, and this time they entered the ballroom to see people in their finest clothes dancing around and chatting. The woman all looked so regal, and the men appeared kingly, almost. For a moment, she forgot about her purpose, then the human influences from the room began to hit her. She knew that the strongest one was the one who she would have to help or doom. Hoping the feeling would go away, she ignored it.

Serena smiled as she watched him dance but he had a weird look on his face, before she smiled at him. "You looked quite nice and she seemed to be happy." She said as she blushed at his actions. "K-Kai-kun...... y-yeah. SHe said as she curtsied to him and then looked at him with a blush"
