You should try investing in treatments specialized for fleas.

Try your local pet store
tried that but no store here are selling cat fleas treatment for home.

well dot bother wasting your time and money on intesticides because that litrelly makes the fleas multiply it may say to prevent but it does not. Hoover everywhere wash all sheets. Hoover everyday. Washing powder for you washing machine works shake the powder all over carpets couch and bed matresses then go around the whole house and vaccum all the powder up. It stuns the fleas so you can vaccum them up a bit easier. You can get flea powder for your cat. powder your cat with that once every few months or month. Also lavender repells fleas spray that on your furniture and carpets. I think tea tree oil helps to. Also if your cat goes out put a flea color on it, it may prevent some fleas maybe not all but it will help. dont bother with all these chemical things for fleas because they are no good for you and your cat and they just multiply anyway good luck

I would not use a flea collar on the cat unless your cats already wear collars (also keep in mind they don't make quick release flea collars).

ALL pet stores sell a flea/tick prevention. But you may want to take your cat in to a groomer (if you aren't confident in bathing her your self) for a flea dip.

Most things have to be applied monthly to the cat/s. As for taking care of the problem in the home disinfect every thing, not just the area the fleas are in but EVERYTHING because they will come after you. If you aren't confident in taking care of the problem yourself the next option would be to call in an exterminator.
Invest in flea preventatives.
Frontline, Revolution, PetArmor..
Just to name a few name brands.
Apply it once a month to the cat and it prevents fleas, flea larvae, eggs, and ticks.
You should also take your cat and have it professionally groomed in a flea dip by a groomer.

DO NOT USE: Hartz brand, Sergeants brand, flea collars, nor flea bombs. Toxic crap that does not work and has been known to kill pets.

Apply a spot on treatment to the pets such as Frontline, Revolution, or Advantage

As for the house:

Make your own flea remedy by mixing 3 cups diatomaceous earth (DE) for every 1/2 cups boric acid. Sprinkle the powder lightly, yet thoroughly over carpet, under beds and in closets while wearing a safety mask to avoid inhaling the dust. With a broom, work the granules deeply into the carpet. Vacuum after two days.
After the 2 days, Vacuum twice a day and empty, dispose of, or seal off the vacuum bag every time you vacuum. Adult fleas can easily crawl back out. Wash area rugs and floor mats regularly with hot water or in the washing machine. Dry each thoroughly.

Although not poisonous, the powders should not be applied while pets or infants are present, nor should small children be allowed to play on the carpets until after the residual dust has been vacuumed up. Extra caution should always be applied when using any pest control measure in households where children, elderly people or persons with a history of respiratory illness reside.

You can't slack off when dealing with a flea infestation, you have to hit them with everything you got at once if you are going to win the battle. Afterwards i have found that just keeping revolution on my cats every month prevents another infestation.
