Welcome to Gaia! ::

What are some stereotypes made about canadians these days?

I have:

"eh?"
We ride polar bears to school
we live in igloos
we are all lumberjacks

what else?
Honestly, I love Candia. When I'm older I plan on living there.

But I can give a a lot of stereotypes.
My favorite is that Canadians use monopoly money. [Thank you Weird Al]

Well, seeing as how I am one....

Don't forget hockey!
There has to be a stereotype about that.

My mom and step dad call Canadians Snow Birds because a bunch of them come down to Arizona during the summer or something. I've never been to canada before, but it sounds pretty peaceful since you don't usually see anything on CNN about them.
One of my favorite taglines about Canada is "Living the American Dream without the violence since 1867."

The stereotypes I hear a lot are:
polite
love hockey and curling
are used to subzero temperatures

Canadians are awesome. But just because I am one. I like how even Canadians stereotype Canadians. Like from different areas of Canada. Like Im from southern Ontario and Im always making fun of my newfie friends and making fun of Quebec.

Not always true. Depends where you live. I live in Toronto, in one of the more "ghetto" areas. Was a shooting down the street just last week. And over the xmas break a 9th grader at my school was stabbed to death.

I have this weird thing where I feel like canada doesn't exsist...I guess because it's so neutral and it's like a mix of a few different places.

The only thing I think about canadians is that they make damn good teen dramas.
I think what he means is they don't really get into wars.

"Eh?" Maple syrup. Hockey. Overly friendly.

When I think of Canada, this is what springs to mind:
"Eh"
Polite
No litter
Sucky, but cheep healthcare
Cold all the time like Alaska
Mostly unpopulated
Hockey fanatics

Though I know that those are just stereotypes. I've never been to Canada, but I have a few friends who are from there. smile
i cant tell them apart from caucasians. rolleyes
