If I recall correctly, the thread creator was long longer able to maintain the thread and it was in need if a massive overhaul anyway, so it was recreated. But it's essentially no different. Feel free to hang around and ask anything you'd like.


Congrats on the new thread, Rose! I might post more often in this one.

Lexia_Star got it right. One of the two creators of the old thread was gone, as well as many of the old moderators. And it needed a little bit of updating. Thus, this thread was born. smile We also have hopes of it being updated more often.

And don't get us wrong, Horehronie, we have our selfish moments as well. And even when we're not being selfish, we still get pleasure from our respective roles. ^_~

For the first topic at hand; what brought you to the lifestyle?

I stumbled upon BDSM porn sites and just viewed the pictures. It was mostly femdomme stuff and I knew I was turned on. From that point I slowly started researching. I actually thought I was a Top at one point but when it came down to actually letting out any sadistic feelings I haulted myself and it lost it's appeal. I lurked around the Gaian threads at this point in time. Then I was introduced (through my former Dom) to a website which described submission really well and it clicked in my head. Since then I have grown to realize I am more of a slave than a submissive in my wants and needs and I have had my ups and downs in this lifestyle. I am happy to have finally found the right Master for me in my Daidi though. ^w^

You are right, there are assholes in every community and they need to be dealt with. I also think Nightwolf meant perhaps in an idyllic setting there should be no pressure. An idyllic setting would be nice, wouldn't it? But unfortunately, this is the real world and I'm kind of a cynic. And apparently there's something weird about a woman who likes being tied down and beaten, but will not, under any circumstances, allow anything near her face or neck. And because I'm sort of shy and socially awkward, the expectation seems to be that I'm sort of ultra-submissive when I'm in sub-mode and will let people push me into doing whatever with some negotiation.

Nope. I don't work like that, Kitty's got claws, and if you attempt to breach her boundaries, you get a facefull of them.

I missed this but just to clarify, no, I don't mean in an ideal situation or anything like that. I'm talking about the community over all. There are jerks in the community, but it does not make up the majority. The community, over all, are not jerks. And many of those who are jerkish Doms are not really Doms but horny wanna-be jerks.

I stand by my statement. That the community will not push you into something you are not okay with in an aggressive (aka jerkish) manner. Of course there are acceptations, but that goes without saying.

Although that said, I've seen a heck of a lot more jerkish s-types than D-types. :/

Honestly it depends on who finds out what... and what their .... sensibilities are.
Example A) A puritan mother walks in on you are her child having a bondage session and sex. Completely *consensual between you two, but you are both still under the age of majority. The mother is offended and has the legal right to have you arrested for probably assault. Will she use that right? That is up to your imagination.
Example B) A sex positive mother walks in on you and her child having a bondage session and sex. Completely *consensual between you two but you are both still under the age of majority. The mother is offended and has the legal right to have you arrested for probably assault. Will she use that right? That is up to your imagination.
*consensual verbally between you two, but not legally given you are under the age of majority. You have no legal right to give consent to bodily harm/bondage. The only person who has that right is the legal guardian up until age of majority.

This same law is also why parents can be charged for crimes their children committed.

Do I personally agree with this law? No, I think it is dumb as all hell and think those who can consent to sex can consent to bondage...But at the end of the day, it is still illegal to do bondage, and flogging, and other numerous BDSM related functions and forms while under the age of majority. I cannot condone illegal things, or I am at risk at getting this thread booted and me in trouble.

Another reason the AoM is important is that not all BDSM relationships involve sadomasochism but there are usually contracts (verbal or written), especially in Master/slave relationships. According to the law you have to be the age of majority (or emancipated) in order to sign or take part in a contract on your own without parent/guardian assistance as well. Think back on grade school when your parents had to sign permission slips for field trips. It's like that in the eyes of the law.

I have to disagree with this idea, Coco. Mostly because the "contracts" are not legally binding, so the legality of signing a contract is a mute point.
