My general opinion is that I feel bronies alone are pointless. I have no problem with guys watching a show that is aimed for girls. You're a guy who watches MLP along with other guys and girls and you call yourself a fan if you like that show enough and you become part of a fandom. My issue was why did a bunch of guys find it necessary to break off from the fandom and have a guys-only fandom and not only that but give themselves a name for it. Like they were embarrassed they watched a girls show so they had to find a way to make themselves seem emasculate for it.
This doesn't exist. Not sure where you got the idea but that isn't a thing that exists. Bronies is just a name. The name's just a pun yo
bro pony
bruh

Just a stupid pun trying to deride a giggle out of the unexpectedly adult-male fanbase, it's not exclusionary.

I used to be creeped out by the fandom, and it didn't help that I had a friend who's favorite pony was Rainbow Dash, but seeing a drawing of Rainbow that she did got me curious, and what really drew me into it was when someone in a chatroom I used to frequent introduced me to the Dr Fluttershy video on YouTube. Eventually it lead into me watching MLP:FiM for the first time. I fell in love with it, for a number of reasons. It was also my first real exposure to My Little Pony as a whole, too, since I had never had any of the toys growing up.

Every fandom has the crazy fans, and that's not going to change. And from what I know many bronies actually adhere to the show's overall message about friendship. Besides, most of my interest in the show stems from the quality animation and well-written stories... most of the time. Those reasons are also why I enjoy watching Littlest Pet Shop and Sofia the First. Plus, I just love Rarity and I wish that I could find an excuse to cosplay as her, or at least a nice shirt with her cutie mark.

As a fan of the cartoon, I have no problems with bronies.
There is nothing wrong with enjoying a cartoon geared towards kids, otherwise we would have a problem with all the ATLA fans out there as well.
What I do have a problem with is the amount of pony porn you see circulating online.
Most of them are pathetic and depict the ponies wearing articles of clothing they couldn't put on by themselves or with magic, while others are crossing the line hard into bestiality.
people who draw those kinds of things and those wh drool over them concern me the most.

that isn't a fair comparison tbh

Do you have an opinion (whether positive or negative) about the MLP:FIM fandom?
Negative, mostly. They creep me out, for the most part. I mean, not all of them, obviously, since I haven't met ALL of them, but the ones I've met are just really weird. Like in a really unpleasant and uncomfortable way. And my cousin's little girl is like 6 and legitimately likes MLP, so it creeps me out that grown a** men are into it. I don't know. I don't have a good explanation for it. It just skeeves me out.

Do you think there are any legitimate reasons to dislike said fandom?
Just the douchey guys. But not because they like a show. Because they're douches.

Do you think that brony haters are misinformed/misguided/ect?
Ummm. Just weird, I guess.

And patriarchal scumbags that they are, they even invented an exclusionary gendered title to it. Pegasister.

I just call fans of both genders bronies.

yeah that's what the rest of us do, too. Some people use pegasister because they like it, not to be ******** exclusive. Silly reactionaries think that. Silly reactionaries think everything's ******** exclusionary.

I automatically consider a guy to be a creep when they like MLP. It's just so... *****, it's on the same page as furries are, the sexualizing of it. It's so gross and inappropriate. I would never date a guy who admitted that they are into MLP. Even the guys I know that aren't into it sexually are just... Weird. Women haters, and insecure.

What, really? Never? What if the guy had big square pecs, a hairy chest, and could lift a car? Even then?

In my case, women I get with don't really think it's an issue. I have like 20 MLP toys in my apartment that are in plain view of any dates I bring home. I guess women don't care because they know I have young nieces who visit me, so they just assume the toys belong to my nieces.

Nah I still wouldn't. My boyfriend already has a nice chest and a car, and he doesn't like MLP so I'm good there. Even so, a guy admitting he liked it would be a deal breaker.

Just wanted to say, while the term itself may not be exclusionary, there are those of both genders within this fandom who treat it like it is exclusionary.

But most of us say it's gender neutral. *shrug*

On the topic:
Do you have an opinion (whether positive or negative) about the MLP:FIM fandom?
My opinion of the fandom is both positive and negative. Would that make it neutral? Does that mean I have an opinion? Meh. Semantics. Anyway, the fandom as a whole is okay. I don't have a problem with most of the fans, as I stay within the art circles of the sane side. I do take issue with the fans who try to "convert" non-fans as if the fandom were some sort of cult or what-have-you.

Do you think there are any legitimate reasons to dislike said fandom?
Not as many as some would think. The fandom is just a collective of people who like something. That's all. If there is a reason, it's that one dislikes the fandom because one dislikes the franchise. Or the people within it. Simple as that.

Do you think that brony haters are misinformed/misguided/ect?
Some of the extremists, yes. But I don't make it a point to listen to their negativity. I have other things to do with my life than listen to someone else's tirade over another group of people.

And golf even moreso

So yeah, true fact and well said

Anxious Canine

You can like the show without being a brony.
Just like you can watch anime without being a weeaboo.

They are the extremists of a subculture and the label will always be associated with a specific group of stereo-typing and traits. Often negative. :/

I don't like bronies. They are dull, but most emphasize that they are sooooo unaccepted and insist that they are some new brand of nerd culture. >>

1. I think they're losers, they're weirdos, and I bet many of them are ***** too. I just find the group of people extremely creepy to be honest. The idea of a fully adult male watching a cartoon about ponies aimed at very small children just makes my skin crawl and wonder just what in the hell is wrong with this person.

2. They are adults who are obsessed with a cartoon that is aimed towards very small children. That seems to me a good enough reason to ridicule them.

3. Misinformed? Yeah probably, I know I am. The only thing I know about "bronies" is they like a cartoon show about ponies. That's all I know and I'm sure that's all the vast majority of teenagers and adults know because we have better s**t to do then watch cartoon shows for 8 year olds.

Misguided though? No.
Very small? It's not made for the same audience as Oobi. The episodes have a storyline, and jokes, and at this point are made for the bronies as much as the children. The demographic argument doesn't really work past season 1.

Do you have an opinion (whether positive or negative) about the MLP:FIM fandom?Honestly I have a bad taste in my mouth due to the s**t storm MLP has caused in my family life but that was just one person, overall no I dont hate bronies, I just will never ever again date a person who would consider something like that as more then a just a show, someone that would consider it a -lifestyle-, something they cant live without(but they can live with out their kids or myself-we are replaceable, MLP isn't).

Do you think there are any legitimate reasons to dislike said fandom?
I think to each their own, I can see it both ways. I dislike that 20+ year old guys like the same show as my 1 year old daughter, they kinda ruined the whole thing for me. But I also know not every guy in the fandom is sexual about it, they just like it for being a cartoon.

Do you think that brony haters are misinformed/misguided/ect?
Yes and no. Nothing is black and white, there will always be bad mixed in with good.
