Blue eyes shifted to her right as another being stepped up and past her. With her ears hidden in her hair, this demon stepped to the side. She narrowed her eyes slightly and pushed on ahead. There were many more demons here than she would have thought, a few humans as well. It seemed that the ones holding the tournament had opened it to everyone. Not that she cared. She was here for one purpose only, and it was certainly not to win. Though she was going to do her best to anyway. Shifting the bag she was carrying higher onto her shoulder, she lifted a hand and brushed a few strands of her black hair from her face. She shifted to the side as another, much taller, demon pushed passed her. "Hey! Watch it!" She snapped, letting out a breath quickly and stepped up to the table that was set up for sign ins. She waited for a moment before she signed a fake name and walked passed.

This place was busy, and Kame wondered just what it was that they were trying to accomplish. The dark Tournament was used for a couple of reasons, but she had not paid much attention to what this one was for. She was just here to find, 'HIM'. She was sure that he would be here. There was no doubt in her mind. She was going to find him, and she was going to kill him. Lifting her right hand, she placed it over the black pearl studded, black silk ribbon on her left wrist. It was calm for now, but spiral scars up her arm showed that, in the past, it had not been so docile.

Hiei

Hiei stood atop the highest point of the psychic Genkai's home, watching the flood of creatures pour onto the compound. Hiei knew that there was almost no chance of him being presented with a true, and worthwhile, challenge. Maybe he'd be paired with Yusuke or Kurama in a later round; they'd be sure to, at least, give him a little excitement. In fact, Hiei had been burning for a rematch with Yusuke for quite some time. This was the main reason he'd accepted the invitation to take part in this ridiculous tournament in the first place.

Yusuke and Kurama had decided to throw another tournament. Now that the Kakai Barrier net had been demolished, and Enki, the King of the Demon World, had forbid all demons to harm the human realm, the turn out for this tournament was almost absurd, and full of people itching to prove themselves. Enki had won the tournament for a second time and received three more years as the King of Demons. The peace that followed was so dull, in fact, that Hiei found himself yearning the battlefield almost more than ever before in his life. He was really curious to gauge the skills of the fighters who'd gathered and quite impatient to get past the preliminary rounds.

"Yes," he said to himself, eyeing up a small girl with odd ears and a sense of rage and vengeance in her heart standing close to a mountain of a creature with the spiritual presence of a flea. "This tournament should be entertaining, at the very least."

She was signed up, in the tournament. She just had to keep her power hidden and her eyes open. She allowed her cat ears to lift up out of her long black hair, and her tail to unfurl out from under her tight fitting white dress. Turning from the main group; most of which were discussing who was in the tournament and who they hoped to face, and she made her way toward her quarters. Because there were so many of them it was just a camp site, but she was okay with that. She stepped inside the roped off square and set her bag down. It was going to be a long few days. Se let out a sigh and opened her bag, taking out some bandages and she wrapped her left arm. She knew that it would start to act up here, mostly because she would have to use her power.

Kurama stepped up beside, or below rather, his friend. Hiei seemed deep in thought as he looked down at the gathered crowd. "Anyone in particular catch your interest?" Kurama asked, now looking down at the gathered demons himself. It looked as though a large crowd had gathered, and that there would be plenty of competition. However, for himself, Hiei and even Yusuke, they would hardly be worthy. Kuwabara had opted out of this tournament, which was not a surprise. His first tournament was also his last. He had not wanted to return after his near death experience.

Hiei

Hiei sensed his long time teammate approaching and did not acknowledge his appearance. In response to his question, Hiei simply muttered, "No one like Yusuke." It was well known that the Mozoku would be one of the strongest at this tournament. Hiei would be very surprised indeed to find someone more worthy. "But should we meet in the ring, Kurama," he said, inclining his head slightly, "You'll promise to give me something to remember, wont you?"

"Still," he continued, "There's bound to be someone of interest down there."

At that moment, Hiei's Jagan eye flashed his mind to his sister, Yukina, who was at the foot of the temple. He still had not brought himself to revealing his identity to her, but he didn't know why. It was just not possible.

"We should go. We'll be starting soon."

OOC: In case you saw it, I posted something that was really lame and I decided to delete it and rethink my character. Just a heads up.

Her small camp was setup, and it was just in time. She turned in time to see that others were headed toward the newly created ring. She stepped out of her little camp and followed after, her ears perked forward and her tail swishing back and forth with the movement of her hips. She ignored some of the demons that were close by, instead checking that the bandages on both of her arms were tight enough. She did not wish for the ones on her left arm to come off and reveal the ribbon. Not that many would care, but things got awkward when she had to explain that just that simple ribbon was slowly killing her.

She shoved her way to the front, able to get by rather easily since she was rather short. She stood only five feet tall, though her ears made her a couple inches taller. Still, her small frame and short stature made for an agile and swift fighter. She used that to her advantage a lot. It also helped that she had the reflexes of her neko heritage. She could get by without her powers if her opponent was weak enough. She wanted to avoid using her powers in the beginning.

The red head nodded in response to his friend when he stated that they were about to begin. But he did not move. He had something to say first. "Should you and I meet in the arena as opponents, I will make certain that the fight will be worth your time," He stated, giving Hiei a small smile before he descended to the base of the temple. Once there, he made his way over to Yukina, a friendly smile on his hansom face. "Yukina. It's a pleasure to see you again. Are you enjoying the spectacle so far?" He asked, though he was sure the answer would be a no. She was not the violent type.

Hiei only nodded slightly when his sister addressed him. She responded to Kurama, "It's been a great opportunity to see old friends!" Hiei just wanted to fight. It was then that the small girl with cat ears pushed past them. Hiei's eyes followed her until only his Jagan could see. She rushed to the front of the throng. There was something strange about that girl; something with her power. It felt.... bound? Hiei became very curious as to this girl's story.

A large bell sounded to signify the start of the event. It was time.

By the looks of the large board at the front of the crowd, there were to be heavy preliminary cuts due to the enormous turnout. Like the Demon World tournament before it, it seemed that this bout called for battle royale to determine the strongest of the group.

Bario

After being registered in a tournament he'd only found out about that morning, Bario stood at the back of the group, eyeing up the strange competition. He'd certainly met demons and apparitions before, but he definitely was not well versed enough to stay calm at such a crowd. He'd only known his powers for a few months now and was merely looking for assistance in controlling them when he'd come to this temple, but he was certainly not one to deny fate. He took the tournament as an opportunity to experience the world in a new way. Bario had had a considerable amount of street fighting practice and, though still untrained, he thought he would be able to hold his own. He was concerned that he could still not channel his spirit energy into physical attacks, as he'd seen many apparitions do before, but he'd always managed to beat the situation with a little thinking. Bario's powers were not offensive, but that didn't mean very much to him.

OOC: Had a little trouble creating a character, but I think I finally got one. I'll be more extensive in my posts after my test, which will be soon. smile

The board was up, the names were written. There were to be a series of battle royals to select the strongest of the bunch. Because there were to many, there were to be five per group. Kame shifted as she looked for the fake name she put down, then her eyes landed upon it. 'Yuri'. She was in the third grouping with four other demons, though she did not know their strength, or their power. She did not care at this moment, for there was a lack of a certain name that she had been looking for. However, she knew that he could be using a fake name like she was. She had not seen him, though there were many with covered faces, and she knew that she was being watched.

Rolling her shoulder, Kame found her way to a good vantage point where she could watch the two battles before her own. She wanted to size up the competition. If there were strong demons, she would have to watch herself. If the rumors were true, then the group that had won the dark tournament was here. If that was true, she would have to watch her back. She was still wanted back in the spirit world for the crimes she had committed with her previous employer, the one that she was here to kill. She could not afford to be captured and brought in for her crimes. Not yet.

Though he did not have a third eye like Hiei did, Kurama did not miss the fact that Hiei was watching a female as she pushed passed them. He watched until she was gone, but Hiei still looked after her. He seemed troubled, but Kurama knew better than to bring up something like that. Instead, he returned his attention to Yukina, and with a smile he offered her his arm, to guide her through the large horde to a safe place to sit. "It is good to see you as well. It has been quite some time since we last saw you. How are things going for you?" He asked, casting one last glance at Hiei before he took a quick look at the board. Sixth group. Yusuke was in the tenth.

Hiei

Hiei was spared from remaining in the uncomfortable exchange with Yukina by his being placed in the first group to fight. Finally.

He stepped into the ring with a large sigh of disappointment. The other four combatants left much to be desired. In one swift dash, he had cut all four of them in non-lethal areas and watched them fall to the ground. They would live, but they wouldn't be up anytime soon. He turned, he sheathed his sword and walked from the ring, the count finishing as he reached the perimeter of the ring. He could hear the announcer, Koto, yelling about something, but he'd long since learned to tune her out.

He returned to Kurama and stood, quite silently. Hopefully, things would heat up soon.

Bario

Bario was placed in group number six. He watched, immensely nervous, as a very small man wearing black ended the first match in seconds. Maybe he should back out. Maybe this wasn't a good idea, after all. The second group took a bit longer to finish, but it still left Bario nervous about his, seemingly, obsolete abilities. What was he thinking?

The third group was called and Bario watched it's combatants step forward. The tournament's first female fighter had taken the stage. This would be interesting, so say the least. Would this girl show a pattern to prove that good things came in tiny packages?

He tried to shake his mind free of negative thoughts and began to think of his battle strategies and bag of tricks. The seemed to pale in comparison to a sword moving faster than the eye can see.

Kame stepped into the arena. The other four were bigger than her, in both height and girth. She was slender and short, with cat ears and a tail that swayed slowly. Her blue, almost white eyes scanned the four around her, then the bell rang to start the fight. All four charged her, thinking her an easy target. The placid look on her face changed into grin and her eyes narrowed slightly. As the first demon drew close, Kame jumped up and planted her foot in the face of the demon, pushing him over, leaping off his face in time to drop kick the next one. They were both back up as she landed on the other side, spinning and running at them this time. She moved quickly and ducked under the legs of the third, spinning and bringing her leg around, shattering his knee. She was then on her feet and easily dodged a punch, grabbing the arm of the first demon and throwing him clear out of the arena.

Kame felt a hand close around her tail and heard a triumphant yell from the fourth demon. Kame spun, a look of rage on her face. She grabbed the face of the demon in her left hand, purple energy exploding out of her wrist and forming large claws that she used to crushed the head of the demon. As he fell, she jumped away, keeping her left arm tucked back. The ribbon was biting deeply into her wrist, red starting to show through. She had to end this, now. So, she gritted her teeth and brought her right arm up. In her hand formed a long whip made of green energy. She brought it across her chest, then lashed out with it, cutting down the last two, but not killing them. The whip vanished and she walked out of the arena. She had won, but blood was dripping from her closed fist. She attempted to keep it hidden, she did not need to look weak, not now.

Kurma had to say that he was impressed. He had seen female warriors fight before, but the power this one had was nothing he had ever seen. However, he did notice the blood. She tried to hide it, but he could see it. There was something wrong with her arm, but he could not be bothered with it. At least not right now. So he turned his attention to the next match, the one that was starting right after they moped up what was left of the head of the demon that had grabbed the female's tail. Kurama was sure that others would avoid doing the same in the future, lest they befall the same fate.
User Image
Hiei

If he wasn't interested in the Girl with a Cat's ears before her fight, Hiei certainly was after. What was most peculiar was that she exhibited, not only, traits of Hiei's style in the form of power binding, but also of Kurama with the green whip-like attack. Hiei didn't want to think of the power of a weapon like Kurama's amplified by a technique. But, even so, the blood trickling from her arm was not to go unnoticed, and Hiei wondered what it meant.

"Did you see?" he asked Kurama vaguely, referring to the girl's blood. "I wonder what that's about."

Hiei wondered how Kurama felt. He severely doubted that Kurama would fail so early on, but the match in question was quickly approaching. The fourth round was already beginning.

Bario

After the third match, Bario made sure to tap the winner, the girl with cat ears, to congratulate her. "Awesome job!" he said, but he didn't keep eye contact long enough to speak to the girl. At that particular moment, Bario was sweating bullets, terribly afraid of what was to come. What if one of these huge demons kill him? Was he really ready to die?

He'd barely thought about it, or that's how he felt, before the fifth match was ending and he was wandering his way through the crowd towards the ring. Standing before four other opponents, three of which were fairly scary demons, his nerves shot up more than ever. Even worse than the ominous monsters, the only other human-looking fighter in the ring seemed way too calm; as though he already knew the outcome. Something struck Bario when the two made eye contact. He was out of his league.

OOC: Bario is going to lose this match terribly. Like he has no chance in hell. So, feel free to god mod as much as you'd like in this next sequence; the only thing I want to show is a brief view of his powers. <3

Kame did not stick around to see the outcome of the next matches. She returned to her little camp and dug into her pack, pulling out some fresh bandages and removing the ones now soaked in blood. As she did, the fresh wounds were revealed. The ribbon had started to spiral up her writs, leaving deep cuts in her skein that were wide, and still seeping blood. She stitched them with some thread and a makeshift needle, then wrapped her arm again, flexing her fingers. She let out a light sigh, drinking water from the canteen she had. Finally she returned to the ring, and by then the sixth match was starting. Once more she pushed her way to the front, which was far easier this time. It seemed that her demonstration had been effective, and she grinned. Kisie would know that she was there. Now she just had to wait.

He stood in the ring now, looking at the other four that stood there. Three were large ugly demons, the last was human. Kurama could see that this human was more than terrified. There was just one thing on his mind, and he knew that it meant not killing. At least this human. As the match started, Kurama reached into his hair and removed his famous whip. He held it in one hand for a moment before slashing it out at the three demons. He took them out as Hiei did. Wounded, but not dead. Now, he turned his attention to the human, holding his whip at his side. "I would like to see your power. I can see that you are new to this type of... Event. You have one free shot." He explained calmly, genuinely interested in seeing the power of this human. If he was anything like Yusuke, then perhaps Koenma would have another recruit.
User Image
Hiei

Hiei watched the girl through his Jagan eye as she repaired her wound. He still could not decipher what it could mean, even after witnessing it almost first hand. As Kurama stepped up to the ring for his preliminary, Hiei saw the girl come back to the front of the crowd. Intrigue and a sense of self-security made him confident enough to approach her. Silently and more shift than the eye could see, Hiei vanished into the throng and reappeared a few feet behind the girl. Gently, he said, "Congratulations on your victory. It was most impressive."

He wasn't entirely sure that she wouldn't attack him or run away, so he continued talking, before she could do either. "Yuri, wasn't it? What brings you to this tournament?" Hiei knew that Yuri was not this girl's true name, but he did not pry to see what it was. It had been a long time since he'd been a thief, stealing treasure, power, and thoughts.

Bario

After watching this red haired man cripple the three looming demons, Bario could say nothing. He heard the man's invitation, but could not register the intent behind it, and was sure that he would die in this place. Determined to, at the very least, go out fighting, Bario stepped back once and leaped backwards into the air. A few inches from the ground, he froze in place while a glowing, light-blue, bubble appeared around him. This was his power; force fields.

From the judge of how outmatched he was currently, he was sure not that he'd never fought anything nearly as powerful as this man. But, still, nothing to date had been able to break his shields in any way. If he only knew just how foolish we was.

Still suspended in midair, Bario summoned more blue orbs, shaking all the while. These were small and rotating around the large one that he occupied. With a flex of his energy, he sent a barrage of orbs flying at his opponent, praying that this actually worked. After all, he barely understood how energy worked in the first place.

Her ear twitched, her tail flicked, but she made no other signs that she knew that someone was there. She watched the fight. "Says the man who finished his match before the bell stopped echoing." She stated to his first comment, turning her head to face him. Her eyes focused on him, one ear shifted to the side. "Not that it matters, but I'm looking for someone." She stated, crossing her arms and looking ahead once more. "That does not mean that I will not fight with everything I have. I'm not here to win, but I'm not here to die either." She stated plainly.

Yoko/Kurama

Kurama waited. Clearly this human was terrified, however, he was going to try. He jumped back and formed an orb around himself. This was new, unexpected, but good. Kurama inspected it for a moment, then the orbs that were formed and launched at himself. He lifted his whip and slashed through the orbs easily. He gave a small nod and began to walk toward the human. "Impressive. With some training you could be quite powerful. I think Yusuke might take an interest personally in your training." Kurama slashed through any orbs that might be launched his way. He stepped up to the large orb and placed a hand on it, then brought his whip up and broke through it. He made sure that the human did not fall. "You have much training to do before you can truly compete in a tournament like this. Yu are lucky that I am your opponent." He stated, knocking the man out and carrying him out of the arena. Kurama propped him up against a wall, standing not far from Hiei, but not too close. Hiei had approached the female he was watching and Kurama was not about to interrupt their conversation.

[[OOC: He can wake up at any time. Just saw that as the best way to get him out of the fight without Kurama having to hurt him. ^^]]

Hiei

Hiei considered her response for a moment. "I wouldn't worry too much," he said. "The head of this tournament does not like senseless killing and you'd be hard pressed to find a stronger fighter than him; people will follow his rules. Maybe," his voice dropped in volume, "you should remember that if you want to stay out of the spotlight." Hiei stared at the girl for a moment; she'd already killed a demon, not that anyone cared very much in that particular instance. He also was not certain Yusuke had witnessed it.

At that moment, Kurama ended his match swiftly. Hiei wouldn't have noticed if it hadn't been for Kurama carrying a human out of the ring. He really didn't care to know why.

Turning his attention back to Yuri, Hiei spoke again. "Looking for someone? A friend or and enemy?"

In a state of fear, Bario could hear nothing, and barely saw his opponent blow aside his power and knock him out. All he could feel was blackness.

Suddenly, a light appeared before him and a figure started towards him. As it approached, he saw that it was a silver fox. Before Bario could even think of what it was, he sprang awake, propped against a pillar. He'd not been out for very long, but it was clear that he had lost. The lack of fear for his life was euphoric and he stood up, fairly quickly, and began to walk away from the crowd. He saw his red haired opponent but he didn't look back. He was very happy to be alive, but kicking himself for even coming to this place to begin with. The entire endeavor was a petrifying waste of energy.

Bario found the main steps to the compound. He sighed a deep sigh, lit a cigarette, and began a slow trek down the mountain.

She was silent for a few moments, thinking over what it was that she should say. Finally she decided on the truth. "Enemy."] She replied, thinking back to her kill. It was true that many were avoiding killing if they could help it, but Kame still had some impulse problems. It came with not being able to use her powers the way that she used to. She flicked her tail, her ears turning back slightly. "I sometimes have problems controlling my anger. And grabbing my tail without my consent is an insult. I was fighting. Things happen." She stated, though it was clear that she was not sorry. She had been killing from the moment she could stand.

Kurama listened to the conversation between Hiei and this female, Yuri. Kurama had a feeling that was not her real name, though it was not his concern. Instead, he turned to watch the human walk away. He let out a gentle sigh before following after him. He stood at the top of the stairs, pushing his hands into his pockets. "We can help you. To control your power, to help you get stronger. This tournament should not scare you away. It should show you that you need training. You will get that here. You just have to wait for this to be over."
