PORTLAND, Maine

(NEWS CENTER) -- Have you ever wondered where Santa would go if he decided to move away from the North Pole?

It turns out Maine would be one of his top choices!

Estately looked at Santa's favorite things and came up with the Top 10 States that Mr. Claus would move to. Maine placed in 8th place.

Factors included in the survey were:

1. Cookie stores per capita

2. Suitable habitat for reindeer

3. Locals employed in manufacturing

4. Enthusiasm for eggnog

5. Percentage of residents with last name "Kringle"

6. Facebook interest in Santa Claus

7. Milk production per capita.

Washington came in first place for the state best suited for Santa. New England dominated the survey - New Hampshire and Vermont were also in the top 10.

What do you think? Could Santa become a Mainer one day?

well ain't that ho ho holly jolly?
That's a funny but cool idea. I know where I live would not be at all suited lol

Santa isn't uptight and bad-tempered like Mainers are. He'd hate living there.

Washington came in as number one, and I think that is a much nicer place for him than Maine. They legalized weed and are fairly laid back. I think Santa would enjoy having the munchies there-he seems like he would smoke pot.

I love my state, but there isn't nearly enough snow fall per year here for the north pole to be located in it (Washington I mean)! We are lucky these days to get 1 significant snow fall a year. Though the reindeer thing makes sense. There are a few reindeer farms on the route to one of my parents favorite camping spots and I used to think how funny it was to see reindeer in the summer as a child xd still... north pole needs snow!!!
