Burning sensations aren't fun - if the burning sensations become unbearable and/or causes nausea, vomiting, pressure and/or fullness - go see a doctor about it.
One non-medicine curse for me is yogurt or kiefer milk - as probiotics, they replace the good bacteria that is not present in your stomach during a tummy ache.
Some people say that ginger itself can help a lot.
Ginger ale is another remedy that can help calm the stomach. You can also use 7Up, Sprite, or Lemon Lime soda. It's probably more of the carbonation that helps.
For some people, mint helps, whether it's a peppermint extract or a mint candy and for others it doesn't work so well.
Haha I think I'm one of those people who drink carbonated drinks for these type of stomach aches.. My mom would always tell me to drink coca cola or sprite as you've said above ^^^^^^. ouo
