ninja A spell that stops time.

Here is what I came up with:

Acuta Memoria means 'sharp memory' in Latin. This charm would temporarily enhance a person's short-term memory. I would use this charm before tests.

Aw... I was gonna say that! xd Um... a spell that made you human for 24 hours if you were not (humanitas) or a spell that made you into any creature you wanted for 24 hours if you were human (creatura)!

A high level spell that is difficult to master among Aurors and Warlocks alike. The user must have a dire need for the spell to work. They also must have a desperate-like and selfless reason for performing the spell. Using the spell to protect a loved one would work better than using it for one's own survival, no matter how dire the situation. Once executed, a bright blue ball will shoot from the wand's end and will explode upon impact, immediately disintegrating anything and everything it comes into contact with-including opposing spells. After execution, the user will become horridly ugly permanently. The more the spell is used, the uglier and more deformed the unfortunate user will become, until they are too incredibly fugly to physically exist, and then die. The spell should not be used more than 2 times in one lifetime.

Mad-Eye Moody was known to have used the spell once in his youth to defend his mistress, who had committed suicide upon witnessing his post-spell appearance. He would regret it into his adulthood and eventually his death.

What would you name it and what would it do?

Mine would be called "Eximius" it means extraordinary in Latin and it would give you some superpower elements for a short period of time. O.O ....

It would be one that would sort Gaians into Aekeaclaw, if only for a day smile

Luminis!
From the stem "lumen" (noun, 3rd declension n-stem), bent it in singularis genitive.

lumen -inis n. [light; a light , lamp; the light of day, day; the light of life; the light of the eye, the eye; an opening, a light in a building]; fig., [clearness, insight; a shining light, glory, ornament].

On other words the same base as the already established Lumos, but with a different light effect. If I have figured it out right (no guarantee for that, Latin grammar and me never got along) it should translate to "of the light" and could be used to light up other objects than your wand.

I would use it to make people glow like the fishes in Booty Grab.

I thought about making a spell that temporarily Transfigures any target into a magical girl.
The incantation would be "Bella Militus", "Bella" from the Italian for "Lovely", "Militus" from the Latin for "Soldier" (Yes, I'm also a Sailor Moon dork.)
The wand movement would be a curved swish to the left, then a curved swish to the right, almost forming a crescent moon, followed by a flick to activate the spell.
Basically, the spell will change their clothes to magical girl clothes, and their wand to some sort of magical girl weapon. How the clothes and weapon appear depends upon the focus and will of the caster.

I am so sorry, so very sorry, but when I read "Bella Militus" I got the mental image of a burly soldier in a drag. I'm a Sailor Moon fan too (or at least I was when I was younger - grew up on the stuff and all) so it's not that I can't see what you're trying to show it's just... Burly soldier in a drag. Make that a sequinned drag. And pumps. Gold pumps.

Oh, and "bella" (from "bellus" wink means "pretty" in Latin so you don't need to refer to it as Italian, just make sure that it isn't confused with "bella" from "bellum" which means war smile
"Militus", however, doesn't sound right. I think it should be "miles" or "militis". You might want to change the soldier to a feminine term as well to show that it is a girl that will end up in a dress - the "-us" is masculine. I don't think there is a grammatically correct term for female soldier unless you can find the Latin word for Amazon but it would probably be more accurate for the given situation I think.

Now I'm even more sorry
I seriously didn't mean to go on and make this a mega-post but when I get into geek mode I can't stop myself and I so love to delve into these subjects. Note that anything or even everything I just said might be completely up the walls wrong because I haven't studied Latin in forever.

Actually, the reason I came up with it was because of a drawing on DevART where Harry somehow turned Draco into a Sailor Senshi. (Super Fuku - but in Slytherin colors.) I figured there had to be some trick to it. I also never learned Latin, so it was the best approximation I could come up with. (I didn't learn any language in high school, but then my school was uber cheap.)
I suppose though, that you could change the second word dependent upon the gender of your target...Can you imagine though if you did that to a guy and he ended up in some garishly frilly pink gown with a giant bubble wand for a weapon? I would die laughing!

(Hah, I think my high school was cheaper still - I went to a public school. Though that's pretty much the norm here in former Socialist!Sweden)
I honestly can't remember that much Latin, but there are some very helpful pages on wikipedia that explains the grammar, as well as a bunch of dictionaries. Depending on how easy you have for learning grammar it's either super easy or super hard.

Hmmm, Draco as Sailor Slytherin. Oh yes. Reminds me of the fic Sparkle Sparkle Princesses - with art!
...
I have to see if I can find the Latin word for "princess" and work it into a spell emotion_dowant
i would have a spell to make gurls fall in love w/ me... hot gurls lol whee 3nodding

I found the link to the picture in question, here it is.

And my school (I'm from America, Massachusetts to be precise!) was an alternative school, we had about 40 students in the whole school, and just to give an example of how cheap my school was, Art Class meant glitter glue, wooden craft sticks and safety scissors. And that was my senior year of high school... sweatdrop
As for "princess" I got two results from my research: Regia Puella and Princeps. (Not sure about the latter.) The first one just makes me think of Puella Magi, and then I think of Kyuubey...and witches...
